"Thank you [Member Name Removed] for the kind review. We pride ourselves on customer service and try to always treat our customers as we would like to be treated."
It went very well!
My house (and the roof of my house) uses Structural Insulated Panels (SIP) for superb energy efficiency. After 20 years a small leak in the roof developed and caused a wet wood area that attracted carpenter ants. This effected only the top layer of the SIP.
Bloomfield's crew quickly understood and adapted to this unusual type of roof system. They found the leak source, removed the old shingles and the deteriorated plywood/OSB layer down to the original foam core. They then replaced the plywood with new, attaching the new wood to the original foam with spray foam for good adhesion. After that work was completed the remaining repair work was just like installing a new roof in the small patch (area) that was damaged.
My roof system has a 12/12 pitch which makes access and repairs very difficult. The two man crew brought a man-lift with them and accomplished the repair in a timely fashion.
I've known Jeff @ Bloomfield Construction for over 20 years. I've used his company on a previous home, and I've referred my friends to him for complete roof replacements. I've personally experienced nothing but good service and received glowing reports from my friends.
"Thank you so much for the kind words [Removed Member Name]!"
"As a "general contractor" we couldn't even get someone out there to look at that small of a job for $125.00 let alone perform that job. That price seems very cheap and I question if a licensed and insured contractor was utilized? Either way I am sorry you felt the price was too high but with licensing, gas pricing, and health insurance requirements now brought on by our President there are minimums that need to be met on small jobs for us to remain profitable. We are glad you found someone willing to help you out and sorry you felt we over quoted your repair."
Great attention to detail. Excellent sub-contractors.
"Thank you so much for the favorable review! Decisions can be hard to make when you are remodeling & updating your home. You were a pleasure to work for."
The roofing job entailed removal of old shingle (two layers), replacement of some underlayment and fascia boards. New shingles and installation of roof vents, and replacement of gutters.. The work was quite satisfactory. However, it took the crew almost three weeks to complete on a 1500 sq ft home (plus attached garage). I have seen similar jobs done in the neighborhood in two to three days. During this whole time a dumpster was parked in our driveway, preventing access to the garage.
Work crews did not always show up, on time or at all. At the first drop of rain, they quit for the day. When I contacted the office, they did not seem to know whether their crew was on site, or not.
The work of the subcontractor who installed new gutters was absolutely atrocious. Immediately after installation I had to call them back to reinstall a portion of gutter that was not draining. In the re-installation they managed to split a fascia board. Other problems with workmanship are still causing problems to this day, e.g. joining sections of downspout with thru nails which caused total plugging of downspout with debris years after the job was finished. Leaks at every corner which has caused rotting of wood.
When I originally complained about workmanship of the gutter subcontractor, Bloomfield Construction arranged for the sub to come and repair, but never followed up with their own personal inspection.
"This review has come 13 years after the work was completed? I checked our records on this file and there is no way we would take more than 3-5 "working" days to complete this roof unless there was a ton of rotten roof boards or weather related issue. I agree it is not more than a 3 day job in most cases. When we start a job our crews will call the office if it looks like ran and only stop work if they are told too by management. We make this call at times so we reduce the risk or water damaging to ceilings and insulation . As far as the gutter problem goes we do show a call into the office on 11-22-2000 for standing water and leaking of a few corners. Our gutter crew was sent out 2 days later to take corrective measures and the homeowner was present at this time. A water test was run and everything was fixed while the customer was present. The ranch style design of this home doesn't allow for the placement of many downspouts. This will almost always result in some standing water in gutters. Without the improper amount of downspouts and with many corners the water has nowhere to run and will sit. We always recommend additional downspouts to help prevent this problem, however sometimes homeowners don't want downspouts placed and new water running in areas where there are patios and sidewalks. Besides a call in Jan of 2001 for an ice dam on the flat roof porch we have had no communication form this customer. We try to service everyone that calls us with problems as quickly as possible. There is a reason we are currently celebrating our 20th year in business...because we service our customers!"
"Thanks [member name removed] for the kind words. We take pride in our work and always make sure the correct products are installed on our customers homes."
"Employee Chris is no longer with the company."
