Animal Boarding Kennels
I left my two dogs at Walk in the Woods kennel while I went to visit my grandkids in Connecticut. I have done this several times before and I have considered them excellent up until now . I left the dogs on a Monday, i was going to stay for a week.... Feeling worried, I called Tuesday several times but could not reach them. There was no answering machine to take the message. I tried Wednesday, and finally got through to an employee; in the late afternoon; who said ' You are probably calling about your dog; haven't they called you? He is missing in the woods., is he chipped? They called my vet to find out, but never called me. I tried to call the owners- no answer. I had saved up for my ticket...$320, round trip and now I had to buy a ticket for $700 one way to get back the next day(because he had been 3 nights in the woods I wanted to get there as soon as possible). I googled the map of the area and photocopied his photo to take with me. I emailed neighbors I called the shelter I called the dog training club.. At Cleveland the connecting flight was cancelled and I had to rent a car and drive 5 hours. When I got to the kennel, an employee met me and told me the dog had jumped a fence on Monday night. The dog is a rescue dog and had broken a back leg when hit by a car before I adopted him and never jumps more than 1 or 2 feet; he cannot. He has a lot of trouble jumping into the car! My neighbors and their kids rallied together and went to the kennel; by the time I got there, late Thursday afternoon, my friends had called the kennel for a live trap- the owner's husband did set that up with chicken he bpught when it came. An employee showed them where to search.... One friend took my other dog into the woods, calling for him, and others drove the roads, looking for him. They already had talked to neighbors, made a rescue poster with a photo, offered a reward. I told the owner's husband-- I just don't understand why I wasn't called. He said there was no point. He also said "it isn't the first dog and it won't be the last." He didn't explain what happened- he set the trap and drove away. It was already getting dark and I was beginning to see how vast this area was- woods, fields, wet and muddy It felt hopeless, but my neighbors and I found himfound him; hungry but unharmed. I got him back. Yet the owners never called me to ask if we had found him; never spoke to me.That was the strange part.

We are always pleased with the quality of care and the professionalism of the entire staff. Our dog is always excited to pull into the drive way and can not wait to see the staff. The length of stay has been as little as a weekend to as long as twenty days. We have always been given a detailed account of how our dog is doing when we call to check on him. The staff accommodates his personality and makes sure he has his favorite toys and is exercised. They are meticulous in giving needed medications. He is always ready when we arrive to pick him up.

Great quality, cleanliness, professionalism and a place our dogs have always loved to go. We never worry about the care that our dog is getting. Highly recommend!

his dog was very aggressive, so i would stay to hold him. the groomer said i didn't have to stay, that she would be alright. about 45 minutes later i get a call that they can't get him on the table, that he is trying to bite them. i had already told them that. i went back and stayed to hold him, with a muzzle on. i told her he had bad hips, but everytime she went to cut the hair under his belly, she would jack his leg up and he would cry. the other groomer kept hitting the dog she was cutting with the brush she had, and i was standing right there. my dad's dog was a handful, but if they're that rude when i was right there, i would hate to see how they were when no one was there. i e-mailed the owner, who i had grown up with, and she would never write or call back.

"This dog was VERY mean and we did the dog a YEAR before, with some problems, but was done. Dog should either be tranquillized or done at a vets office so no one gets hurt."

Excellent. I emailed the owner for a boarding reservation and she answered the same day. When I arrived at the kennel I saw the facilities and runs and talked to the caregivers and groomers who were there. They were very accomodating to my dogs' special needs -( food, rugs, toy.)and I was impressed with the professionalism and the manner that they were grooming, exercising and handling dogs. They really cared about the pets and it is a clean, happy facility. They were strict about the health records and I was glad for that. I was able to call during the week to check on them- but I didn't need to- these are very experienced and expert dog people. My dogs were ready when I went to pick them up and they were brushed and happy- their toys and blanket were washed- and it seemed they had a great time and could have even had more spa services. They had as nice a vacation as I did. You can trust this kennel!!!

This is one of the best kennel s I have ever used to keep my dog. Cathy Steiner the owner is a caring woman who makes sure that every animal that stays there is treating like a king or queen. Our dog was returned to us very clean and happy and I wouldn t hesitate to tell anyone about her and plan to use her services again shortly.
