Scheduling is pretty easy; I just call the referral line and they will get me scheduled with an appointment. Depending on what I need, it can be a couple of months out for a visit which can be frustrating but that is the way it is with health care. It's fine. The providers are well trained and they have a lot of different ways to get in touch with them. I can email a physician or look up my prescriptions online. It is totally affordable and reasonable. The physicians are pretty friendly and pretty responsive. You work with a resident first so you get multiple levels which can take extra time. Everybody is thorough and it's good care.

University Of Michigan Medical Center is a teaching hospital. They're ranked number 1 in States for a lot of things and ranked Top 10 in the country for a lot of specialty. I just like the doctors up there. They're very personal and friendly which are always good things. They were the best ever.

I would recommend them. They are very thorough. They have the best doctors and I feel very comfortable with them. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else for a hospital. They really target problems and they deal with them head-on. They don't push things around. They tell me immediately what the problem is and how to deal with it. They give you their best effort to deal with it, which I appreciate. There is always room for improvement and I want them to keep improving. Their punctuality has improved a lot. I don't have to sit and wait like I used to. I am in 30 minutes or less. I would recommend them and I will absolutely continue to use them.

My overall experience with them was mixed. It goes from very good to very awful. The last that we've been there was good. I saw my doctor, a General Practitioner, and adjusted some of my medications. I will probably use them again. I don't really have a good alternative. I am very upset about the way that medical care is organized. I have medicare and I have Blue Cross as a supplement and the hospital bills in a very crazy way. They will bill 100 of dollar for something and they will tell me that they've negotiated with medicare or with Blue Cross and they charged a whole lot less because of this negotiation, so I am left with the feeling of what is the price and they charge something like thousands of dollars and something very little and it is paid for by the insurance company, so I don't really understand what is going on. It is all behind the scene and I think that the insurance companies are being ripped off and I am very unhappy about that. My toe is hurting me again. The nail is going back in and it split and I'd like to see somebody but I don't really know whom am I going to see. The doctor that I saw initially, I don't think did a very good job. I didn't like what happened about the billing I don't think I want to go back to see him again.

All of the doctors that I have worked with there have done a good job. The wait time is pretty short and the staff is friendly.

I highly recommend University of Michigan Medical Center. The heart transplant went well. Their service is patient-oriented. They realize that the patient is the customer and they give first-class treatment and attention to their customers. I’ve been to a couple of other hospitals in the area and they were not as good as the University of Michigan Medical Center.

In March of 2007 I was admitted to the hospital with multiple blood clots and possible lymphoma. Surgery to biopsy a tumor on my trachea was unsuccessful, and I was on a ventilator in an ICU for a month. My brother, a physician in another country, phoned and was told by a doctor to come visit me, so he dropped everything and came, just to find out I didn't wish to see him. This cost him thousands of dollars. The doctor who informed me I had cancer came into my room at about 8:30 at night, awakened me and told me of the diagnosis, then said "I'm sure you have plenty of questions, but it's almost 9 o'clock and I have to get home because my wife's going to kill me" and then he left the room. The head nurse came in to scream at me one morning in front of the pharmacy tech and the respiratory therapist because I went to sleep with a note on a clipboard stating I didn't want to be awakened because I'd been taken for tests in the middle of the night, and she took issue with my wanting to sleep undisturbed after the tests. While in the hospital, I acquired 4 infections, none of which I had while entering: an ear infection, pneumonia, a staph infection and the day before I was discharged I was told I had a urinary tract infection. Because I was bed-bound for so long my muscles had atrophied and I had to undergo weeks of physical therapy, both on an inpatient and outpatient basis. When I complained to Patient Relations after my discharge from the hospital, I was told they'd "investigate" my case, and a month later received a terse letter stating they felt I had no grounds to complain whatsoever! I do have lymphoma and sought treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston once Patient Relations indicated that I was essentially nothing more to them than a whiner with a "personality conflict" with their staff. Oddly, I've been treated very well at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

I really think that the office is very professional. The environment is very clean, I have been to other centers that are not so clean, but they are organized. Some receptionists are downright nasty but their receptionists are very nice and the nurses are all very friendly too.
