Very quick service, no wait. Higher price than shop used last time, but had 2 1/2 hr wait the.

The owner Ken and all his employees are wonderful. I was in and out in less then an hour. It's a pleasure to work with them. I left feeling safe and cared for.

This place is great: it's a small business, they've been there 80 years, and they know their stuff.  Their business model appears refreshingly simple - stock a small selection of excellent tires, because why would anyone waste time stocking bad tires as well just to have a broader selection?  I called around to several tire places yesterday and even made a tentative appointment with the Silver Spring branch of a huge nation-wide chain of tire providers (who are, perhaps not coincidentally, just across the street).  But in the end this chain outlet's pricing was not only confusing, but I would have also spent nearly as much, so there would not have been any real savings by going to a giant chain.  So I went to Tires of Silver Spring instead, and I'm glad I did.  It's homey and friendly, and they also did the job quickly and with good advice and good humor - things I doubt I would have gotten at the chain outlet. David 1 Goliath 0, and an A+ goes to Tires of Silver Spring.

It was difficult because we needed new lug bolts, so he sent me to the mechanic across the street. The technician was very accommodating and actually installed the tires at the mechanic's garage. It took around an hour and they were very professional.

Got a flat 2 days ago; spare put on. Looked up tire places on Angie's List. Went to Silver Spring Tires. Very nice man inspected all my tires (I had been told at the gas station that there was something wrong with second tire, and that I should replace that along with the flat one). Was told that iI just needed one new tire. He said it would take about 25 min. Went to a nearby coffee shop; returned in 25 min. Car was ready; discarded flat tire gone; spare replaced under floor in back of station wagon. Owner accepted my credit card, and I was on my way.

No frills just fair and honest people.

Local shop, one of two of the longest run local businesses in Silver Spring. Lots of character, but more importantly, enormous expertise. Service was prompt and professional. If you care about your car, especially your tires, take advantage of the years of knowledge resident in Tires of Silver Spring. Tires weren't cheap, but they are good quality. I now understand how the tire pressure gauge works in my Toyota. Saw the model. Really enjoyed the experience and highly recommend it. I went on a holiday so had no wait and could chat while the work was done. In business since the 1950s, this business has seen many things change around it but has clearly remained true to its original character. I am sure it can get busy, and then there may not be any time for the extras, but if you time your visit right, you will get your money's worth and enjoy a scarce commodity: a local shop which values knowledge and quality. And a sense of humor!

This was a very good experience from start (I phoned and he told me to bring the car right over.) to finish. Ken was knowledgeable and professional -- explained everything he was doing. I was at a loss when he asked for the key to the wheel locks since I was pretty sure I never put the wheel locks on the car when I bought it 5 years ago. I drove back home to find the key and discovered I was correct -- the locks and key were still in their original package. I then realized that when I bought new tires two years ago from the dealer, they had simply put locks on the wheels without telling me. Thank goodness I needed this repair -- if I'd had a flat tire out on the highway, the key would still be sitting at home unopened!! Ken assured me that my original intuition not to put locks on the wheels was correct -- in case of just such an emergency on the highway.
Not the least impressive thing about this experience was listening to Ken deal with other customers -- he's a natural problem-solver, who helps his customers work out the most practical and least expensive way to do a repair.
I was in and out very efficiently. I will never go anywhere else for tire repairs!

The service and the price were excellent. The gentleman was very knowledable about the tires, and the work was completed quickly. This business has been around for some time, so the service is always outstanding.

Good, Fast, Quality Service

I arrived on a Saturday afternoon without an appointment. They quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed it for half the price of what others charge. The best part of the experience was interacting with the owner. He has this gruff Nick Notle thing going on. He's full of really entertaining one liners. If you play along, you'll have lots of fun!

Have purchased quality tires from Tires of Silver Spring in the past at excellent price point.

Today went in to purchase tires following the advice of an oil-change outlet. The owner, Ken, noticed some dry rot that he guessed was the reason for the oil-change outlet's recommendation. But , said Ken, the dry rot was still minor and that, paired with good remaining tread, made a change not necessary. In fact, he said many outlets would have resold my used tires on the secondary market. Ken's advice was to wait a few months and bring them in on a *dry* day for another evaluation. Tires of Silver Spring will gladly evaluate tires (no charge) as well as put air into tires (with only a $3 tip to the worker).

Several months back an attendant at a service station decided (on his own) to take a look at my tires. He walked back to me with a nail tack in his hand, saying that he'd removed it from a tire and offering to have his station plug the hole to prevent a flat. In addition to not wanting an unknown service station to touch my tires, I was a little suspicious about the origin of the tack and whether it had ever been in my tire. (Had a kid in the car at the time.) Anyhow, immediately took the car to Tires of Silver Spring, which inspected the tire but could find no sign of damage. And - months later - still no flat. When I *have* had a slow leak, Tires of Silver Spring has (properly and safely) patched the tire - not just plugged it.

Fair price, fast service, very nice staff. Would definately purchase tires from them again.

Excellent. I arrived at 8:30 AM on Saturday and got right in. The owner was prompt and assessing the situation and describing my options. The repairs were made in under 30 minutes. As other reviews noted the owner can be a taciturn but it is nothing major and does not detract from the work.

Fast service and helpful but must ask questions because the owner doesn't give full and complete explanations. Owner is a little cold til you get him talking. Can't really complain though --- did what I asked and complete job done quickly.

They were very nice and prompt. They informed me I had the wrong size tires on my car. They were very informative with different choices from economy to top end. They had tires installed and ready within 45 minutes. I go the top end tires.
