Very knowledgeable and very friendly in helping me with my needs.

I had a new bike that I had recently assembled, but managed to mess up the gearshift in the process, and it wouldn't shift properly. I emailed the company about my problem, brought he bike into the shop for service, and, because the problem was easily fixable, they worked on it right away. I had also managed to get the U--lock jammed under the saddle and they removed the seat and pulled it out. Very quick, personalized service, and I am a satisfied customer.

Everything went fine. they did what they said they would. and I did not have to go back for any corrections.

I brought my Trek in by riding to Silver Spring from Kensington albeit slowly and arrived 5 minutes from closing. I thought I was leaving the bike, but the mechanic and staff insisted they would do it right away and get me back on the road. My neighbor from Kensington arrived to give me a lift back. A pleasant surprise: after 15 minutes, my Trek was ready to rip into upper gears for the ride down the hill to Beech Drive. Silver Cycles was recommended by the An Lach, the long-time owner of Bike Express in Kensington that closed down July 31, 2013 unfortunately. That was a good recommendation!

I brought the bike in. I was told I could wait or leave it. I said I would leave it. The mechanic said that it would take several days because it would be put and quot;In lineand quot; in the backlog, or I could wait for 20 min. to have it done. I decided to wait. The estimate was $65. He did the job very fast, for what would have been for me a difficult repair considering I don't have the specialized tools and wouldn't know exactly what part to order. He showed me the destroyed bearings after removing the bottom bracket. The total charge was $52 for parts and labor, which I thought was fair. The owner was very friendly and we chatted for awhile.

They were exceptional, they were very accommodating and they know a lot about their products. They value their customers and we were impressed when we went back to check out the bikes, they already know our names. They really go out of their way to provide us with quality service.

I brought in my bike for a chain adjustment. I could have done the chain adjustment myself, but since I was in the area, I thought it would save me some time and aggravation to get the chain fixed at the bike shop. The staff were accommodating and did the work fast, but their attitude and professionalism was lacking. I was even advised to give the employee who worked on my bike a tip, which I (perhaps foolishly) did. I have never been urged to give a tip before and I found it very unprofessional indeed. Tips, I believe, should be entirely voluntary and should reflect superior service. I had not asked for any special consideration, nor did I feel I got any, so I felt that I was goaded into paying more for the service I received. This is not the first time that I feel I've received less than adequate service from this bike store, but it will be the last: I will not be using Silver Cycles again.
