Description of Work: RAS provided the abatement service to my basement. Further radon tests after the fix showed the radon went from 7.0 pCi/L to 0.9 pCi/L. Did a neat job, answered all my questions, and were prompt in dealings.

Description of Work: I contacted Radon Abatement Services through Angies List when my long-term radon test results showed that our basement showed radon above the EPA recommended level. Mr. Swett replied right away, asked me many questions about the design and construction of the house, gave me a quote over the phone and followed up with an e-mail quote. Based on my online research about radon abatement, I felt that the price was reasonable, and we settled on a date for the work. | |Mr. Humphries of Radon Abatement Services and his son came right on time, did all the work as planned, showed us how the the abatement equipment worked, cleaned everything up, and gave us a short term radon test to use soon to make sure the exhaust fan was removing enough radon. They also gave us a long-term radon test to use in the future to ensure a totally accurate reading. | |I cannot imagine how this installation could have gone smoother. I can recommend Radon Abatement Services without reservation.

Description of Work: They were very professional and neat. They resolved my radon issues. My basement was at 5.7 which dropped to .8 and the crawlspace which was 2.7 dropped to .4 . I would definitely hire them again.

See above. Radon Abatement is heavily booked, but fit me in. It seems to be an excellent firm.
Description of Work: I have a radon system installed by another firm, and the fan failed after a number of years. That firm would not return any of my calls. Radon Abatement responded promptly, replaced fan, and upgraded the system to what it should have been from the beginning.

John and his crew of 3 came to our house as scheduled. They did a great job and cleaned up carefully when done. They were here about 4 hours. The system is quiet and seems to be functioning as expected. I was pleased with all aspects of this work.
Description of Work: We had radon abatement installed. With a split level, we had 2 suction pipes installed in the basement floor and one under the family room slab. The suction fan is installed outside the house.

John is busy and perhaps that is why one client thought he was surly. He is no nonsense, but we found him to be friendly and very helpful. He came out within a week of our request, did the job in a few hours and was very complete about telling us what we needed to do for next steps. He also pointed out that we had asbestos floor tile that we needed to be aware of and that when the basement was remodeled (before we moved in) that one of our outlets was unsafe. We really appreciated the info especially since we have a toddler and one on the way. I would highly recommend John and will have him come back when we get our house resided to reinstall the outside PVC pipe. I wish that all tradespersons were so easy to work with: on time, on budget, quality work and helpful. Perhaps John wants to move into other trades?
Description of Work: John installed a single pipe radon mitigation system in our basement. The job was difficult because we had very little space for the pipe inside and out. John was only able to install one pipe, but dug an extra deep channel for the air intake and was able to mitigate our radon from 26 to under 1. We are currently doing a long term test to confirm results.

John and his crew arrived on time, was very professional and clean. Did the entire job in about 2 hours.
Description of Work: John and his crew sealed our unfinished part of our basement and any cracks in the floor to prevent any radon gas coming into the basement. PVC piles were installed from beneath the concrete floor to the outside of the house in the back where a fan and on/off box were installed. The pipe went up along the backside of the house up to the roof where any gases would be released. Before the job, John went through the installation process and after the job, he gave detailed instructions on the operation of the gauge in the basement, the functioning of the radon fan, and after installation radon tests that should be done and sent in for test results which he will also get a copy of from the lab.

John Swett came out with his crew after providing an over the phone estimate. It's a flat-fee service based upon the foundation ($875 or $1175). The warranty/guarantee of parts and workmanship are all included in the written estimate as well. A true no-hassle/haggle experience and John was a true professional. Be sure to ask for John and check out their website as it provides a very clear breakdown of what radon abatement entails both from a health and construction perspective. Great work.
Description of Work: Drilled a hole and installed a PVC pipe beneath the foundation and ran it outside of the home. A continually running fan is also a component of the system.

Job professionally done. Only issue is that he is very busy and a bit surly. Have not had new radon test done yet to see if results are low, but he guarantees that number will be under four.
Description of Work: Installed radon remediation in basement. Drilled hole in concrete floor (could not find drain pipe but said not an issue), installed PVC pipe thru basement to garage (where radon vacuum indicator installed) and pipe on thru ceiling of garage, into garage attic and out on back side of garage roof. Sealed cracks in basement and around basement slab and sealed sump pump cover. He arrived with two helpers and finished job in about 2.5 hours.
