We needed a new roof. Upon inspection, we discovered that the decking on our existing roof had some mould, so that needed to be replaced as well. Power Home Remodeling is very aggressive about selling their services, but they hire all subcontractors to do the work. There was inadequate communication between the salesman, the project manager, and the guys who actually did the work. This was in Fairfax, VA in 2013. Guess what!? They didn't replace the moldy decking. We were also told that they would not need to take off the gutters, but that's the first thing they did - this ruined the warranty on the gutters. First, we had to remediate the mouldy roof decking. This cost quite a bit more to do later rather than as the shingles were being replaced. Then, they didn't replace rotting wood in one of the soffits. Whoever heard of a roofing company that doesn't do a professional, thorough job? The following year, a raccoon chewed into the bad wood and moved into our attic to have her babies. It cost another couple of thousand to have a pest control company remote the raccoon and perform exclusion work. Third, when the the roofing subcontractor mis-estimated shingles, they tried to tell us that no one could tell the difference between the architectural shingles we had ordered and the flat ones he had used in two patches. Power promised when they sold us the roof that this would eliminate the problem of ice dams and icicles. That wasn't true either. The insulation is better, but the icicles are worse. Power sent a company person to inspect so they could sign off on it, but basically don't believe everything they tell you. Lastly, before the process was even finished, Power sent a second "quality care" salesperson to push us into putting a positive review online on Angi. My husband did this, but I wish we hadn't. This second review is a follow-up on the first, but I wish I had written it sooner.

First of all, do not believe positive reviews this company has on Angi.com or other sites, or any of the awards they receive from the sites. They pay for positive reviews, which I'll get to shortly. This company engages in sleezy sales tactics and grossly overcharges people. A sales rep will come to your house. Give you an estimate that is way to high and say it's good for a year. He will then give you another number that he says is good just for the day if you sign up right now. Then, he'll knock about 5% off of that price if you promise to write a review. And the price will still be much higher than what you should pay. Oh, and all the while, you'll face bad faith sales tactics like badmouthing the competition or, "our roof is the only way your house won't fall down in 10 years." OH, and if you don't go with them after that appointment, they'll have ANOTHER sales rep call you to set up another appointment, where they might sweeten the deal a bit and still be overpriced and still waste a couple hours of your time when you have to endure their nonsense. No thanks. Not how I want to do business. On the plus side, the only thing earning a star is that both of the guys who I met with who read their scripts were on time, friendly, etc. This review isn't about them. It's about how the company teaches them to sell roofs.

Was in desperate need of getting my back door replaced. Saw a neighbor getting his windows replaced and I asked him for the contact information. Best decision EVER! I got the door and windows replaced for a GREAT price! They just installed everything. EXCELLENT work. Friendly and respectful staff. Oh, did I mention GREAT WORK... Definitely recommend Power Home Remodeling.

Before the installation, they doublechecked their measurements to ensure that the correct materials were delivered. They also kept us up to date on installation dates and when there was a delay, notified us promptly. The teams installing the windows and gutters were professional, efficient, and knowledgeable. We had a wonderful experience all around with Power. All the crews came on their scheduled dates and times. From start to finish everyone was very professional, polite, diligent, knowledgeable, and neat and precise in their work. All the teamwork on this large (to us!) project was simply amazing. I have no idea what this type of work entails but I do know a "well-oiled machine" when I see one. Our roof, trim, gutters, attic, and siding look stunning and my husband and I are extremely pleased with the outcome. From the 1st meeting with the 1st PHR's representative, I was sold. I was so impressed with everyone's kindness and professionalism, making me feel very secure. Our coordinator showed us a few videos of the process. Every question we had, he answered without hesitation and he provided samples as proof. We signed that day and within one week, we had a beautiful new roof with an even more wonderful guarantee. The crew arrived on time, they were all courteous, kind and clean. The entire project took one day. I was contacted by several people during the course of the day and after, in person and by phone, to make sure everything was going well, then after the crew manager walked me around the house to make sure I was happy. The perimeter of my house looked as though the guys vacuumed my lawn it was so clean, better than before they start. We are both so happy with our new roof and our entire experience, we will definitely use PHR for our next project... siding.

Scheduling was easy, the follow up for confirmation is where the trouble occurred. Was told that the estimate could not be scheduled unless both me and my spouse were both present. When I explained that not only is it only my name on the deed, but I paid the mortgage entirely by myself and my spouse did not wish to be there, I was told that they could not do the estimate because "company policy" requires both spouses. This to me reeks of a high pressure sales tactic. They know that in general one spouse may be more prone to making quick decisions or that a "divide an conquer" strategy is best employed. This company lost out on a chance to gain my business.

One of my worst Customer Relations experiences, ever. It would appear as though Power Home Remodeling outsourced their Customer Relations Management to a telemarketer. Upon searching for roofing companies on Angie's List, I was immediately contacted by this company, which not only wanted to set up an appointment but started asking aggressively about my credit and how I would be paying for the job. They did not keep 2 appointments. When I asked simple questions about the job that they for some reason could not or would not answer, they hung up on me. Twice - no kidding. Never talked to the same person more than once. Unbelievably bad experience - would not touch this company again for anything.
