I did not use them because he kept pushing me to make a decision right on the spot. the more I said no the more he offered "deep discounts". The price kept changing. Will not use such a company.

The process of working with Power HRG was very easy. I had an evening appointment scheduled at 7:00PM in the evening so I would not have to miss work and the team was there on time. After I decided to purchase the roof, I was immeidately scheduled for a follow-up inspection. Again, the inspection team was on time (that process look less than 30 minutes once they further assessed the work that needed to be completed). At that time, my install appointment was also scheduled for the following Monday. The day before the scheduled install, I was contacted mid-day and informed that due to the weather (it was suppose to snow several inches..which it did) that the team would like to reschedule the appointment (that was not an issue for me and I appreciated them calling me on a Sunday versus waiting until Monday morning). The install was schedule for 3 days later. The day of install, the team arrived promptly at 9AM and the foreman introduced himself and told me a bit about what they were going to do that day (they had to remove 1000's of pounds of slate before they could start on new roof). The team finished the roof in 1 day and clean everything up (nails, dust from the slate, everything). They sent a QA manager (Adam) out to the site to meet with me late that afternoon to ensure everything was going as planned, he set up my warranty, and make sure that I was satisifed with the working being completed. The team left around 6PM and I had a complete new roof.
Description of Work: The Power Home Remodeling Group installed both a new roof and gutter guards on my 1939 home. I had a 75 year old slate roof that was getting too difficult to repair. The new roof looks awesome and the team completed the work in just one day (which was great, too). I would recommend Power HRG anyone looking for a new roof in the area. I read some of the comments from other folks here on Angie's List that rated the price as a "B". I think the price I received was very competitve and there weren't any hidden charges. I would rather pay a bit more and know what I am paying than pay a little less and get hit with additional charges when the work is completed.

The sales rep came to do the estimate was very professional and thorough. After a HOUR LONG presentation the rep gave me a quote that was a bit high (28k for 2,600 sf roof). I explained that I liked the product but the price was too high. End of story. Three weeks later we get a call that we qualified for a discounted estimate and schedule another rep to do an in home estimate, the person on the phone stated this estimate would take 5-10 minutes. Rep shows up 45 minutes late, proceeds to do the same presentation of the last guy even though we tell him we know the product. After we finally get the quote the discount is significant the price now 18k but still too high. I tell the rep thanks but the cost is too high, this is when things got weird. The reps demeanor changed from nice to defensive and he became argumentative to my refusal. This is when I told him it was time to go. In all this companies sale techniques are too aggressive and their prices are very high.

Christian and his group showed up on time, and like a well choreographed dance, it was a simple wham, bam, and before my fiance and I knew it, they were done. Outstanding politeness and professionalism, they respected the landscaping, the house, and they cleaned up after as if they were never there.

This has been a nightmare, solely due to PowerHRG. Salesman wouldn't take no for an answer, which is fine, he's a salesman. However, he knowingly made promises to get me to sign which PHRG couldn't keep at a later date. I agreed to pay substantially more $ than other quotes b/c they assured me their product and services were better. I can't speak to the quality of their product (I'm not in the insulation trade), but I do know their service was horrible. Salesman promised me (and charged me accordingly) that they could insulate my entire attic; contractor's who were assigned to do the work later told me there was no way and the salesman was off his rocker. Salesman told me I would be getting batt insulation and foam-board in addition to the 'blow-in' stuff; contractor had no record of that and refused to do it. I had to argue quite a bit with PHR and they sent the contractor back later to do it. The PHR rep was accommodating and trying to make the best of the situation, problem was the salesman agreeing to things they couldn't do from the get-go. What angers me the most is losing out on rebate money. I live in Maryland and our power company (Pepco) offers up to $2000 in rebates for insulating home. Apparently PHR is supposed to file the paperwork for this, however turns out (even though they claim to be a huge company working all over the east coast) they aren't qualified to do the work for the rebate and thus I will not be getting any money back. $2000 is quite a chunk of change to lose out on at the last minute. I mentioned multiple times to the rep that getting the rebates were VERY important to me, however he knowingly didn't tell me PHRG wasn't qualified b/c obviously I'd immediately say no and go with another company which was. So in summary, I paid more, got less work done and don't even get the rebates I had counted on from the beginning. Couldn't think of a worse experience...

Project had to be delayed twice due to weather but on third try work was done. Supplies were delivered ahead of time so that they were on site for workers. Workers were on time , polite and professional. They did a very good job. The work looks better than the work done by the company who put the old siding. They cleaned up all materials and took it away. I found all the people that I dealt with at Powell to be professional and concerned that the project was done right.

Dan came to the door Weds night and made the "we are in your neighborhood, would you like a quote" pitch. I agreed since the roof is 19 years old and we'll need to replace it sometime sooner than later. Dan scheduled an appt on Thursday and Ben came out to create the quote. He was a bit late (17 min) and I told him he had exactly so much time until my next call (I work from home). He took that well and gave me a fast (<10 min) explanation of the company (which had many strong points; look into the NARI certification) and then we went out to look at the roof together. Ben's conclusion was that the roof LOOKED FINE and that I really didn't need a new one any time soon. He then explained to me how to tell when it was time to replace (3-5 more years) and gave me a planning ballpark of what the cost might be. NET: good credentials for the company, what appears to be good technology based on the website, and above all they DID NOT WASTE MY TIME. Hi-five, guys...and when the time comes I'll definitely ask for a real quote.

The initial sales call and estimate takes a few hours, so just be prepared. But, the windows are great, and the company was in contact to confirm the install, crew showed up on time, they worked fast and really cleaned up after themselves. No complaints and we plan to use them again when we're ready to replace the rest of our windows.

Power Group is great! From the sales to the final nail - all went smoothly. We asked for reminders that the materials were going to be delivered - we got it. We had another installer working at the same time. Power took the lead and made the necessary coordination. The crews were extremely professional. The workmanship is superb. Power has a great quality control program. We received calls and visits from quality managers throughout each stage. We are extremely pleased with the work.

Our roof measured approximately 4500 square feet; this was a major project. The roof was completed in two days. The remainder of the project was completed in another five days. All schedules were met excepting one day due to rain. All debris resulting from this project were removed in a tidy manner. The project managers, foremen and crew were professional, courteous, knowledgeable and willing to do more than required. We believe the workmanship is of the highest quality - Only the displaced woodpeckers and wood-boring insects will be disappointed in the results.

My husband and I were thinking of starting to look into having someone come take a look at our roof and suspected mold problem, when one of PHR sales representatives came canvasing our neighborhood. We listened to their presentation and Googled/Angie's Listed the company before deciding to go ahead with the project. I was a little skeptical on the material "upgrade", especially since we weren't able to get a second opinion, but I am VERY happy with the end result. When they did the initial inspection of our house, the guy crawled into the attic space in our closet, our garage and the playroom (all very difficult to get into.) They did find mold and took pictures of it on the spot so the roofers would know which areas to treat. The scheduling of the project went smoothly and everyone showed up on-time or early to do the work. The only two issues I had were the price, a little on the higher end - but we opted for the top of the line product, a 50-yr roof. Also, we go the 3-D shingles and the new insulation instead of regular tar paper. The second issue I had was with follow-up. We had a conflict with the final run through that was originally scheduled. They had someone call us to reschedule, but nothing was done beyond that. We never had someone come out to do the final inspection. Overall, I am very happy with our new roof. We get so many compliments on it from our neighbors.

I received a free estimate and after going over with the representatives and reviewing the condition of my roof, i decided that i wanted to replace the roof sooner rather than later. After the initial sales discussion, a rep came to go over the logistics of how the work would be done; timing etc. The work was scheduled and the crews showed up on time, were very professional, efficient, and courteous. I really enjoyed the process. At the end of each day, the crew for that day would completely clean up all around the house and leave no debri or material - they answered any and all questions I had. The work is completed and my house looks so great - better than new. I love the work they did and it really enhances the look and value of my house and the neighborhood.

Summary: Power Home Remodeling Group (PHRG) provided upscale products with upscale pricing. That is, they used high-quality materials, had excellent installation staff, and did a wonderful and fast job; and, the cost of the work is commensurate with that high quality. We wanted a high-grade product, and we paid extra to get it. We still feel it was worth the extra money. Sales: Very friendly sales people, although they are VERY persistent. Be prepared to spend some time with them. They also have many ways to reduce your price, so be sure you know how you feel about that tactic before you meet with them. They were on time for us. Quality of materials: PHRG used high-quality materials that look like they will last a long time. On the roof they offered a 50 year warranty that covers parts and labor that is transferable. We have not had any issues with the materials or installation, although it has only been a short while since installation. Roof installation: They sent a team of 12 workers to do our roof, and did the job in one day, including removing two layers of shingles and replacing all the wood decking under the shingles. They started at 8:30 AM and finished by 5 PM, including an incredibly good job of cleaning up. The only material we've found is a few small pieces of plastic backing that probably blew around - no shingles, no old wood, and no nails. Door installation: They installed our new carport door in about 2-1/2 hours. They replaced the whole doorway, put in the new door, trimmed it out very nicely inside and out, and cleaned up everything. Great job. Again, we paid a premium price but feel we got a premium product.

A representative came around while I was unloading groceries from the car and asked if we wanted an estimate for any window work. Since we were looking into this at the time, I said sure, why not. I stood there for ten minutes with melting ice cream in my hands, looking longingly at the door, while the guy called headquarters to set the appointment and made chit chat. First red flag. The representative arrived for the appointment right on time, and despite being a little schmoozy, was nice enough. He took the measurements of our window and offered to give us an estimate for a new roof while he was there. Our roof is about 15 years old, so my husband said "if it's just an estimate, sure." After we went inside, the guy spent another HOUR AND A HALF giving us a presentation about the materials and the process and their warranties and their licensing. We asked at least four times for him to wrap it up and give us the bottom line already, but he just kept saying "I'm almost done." At the two hour mark, I told him that my husband was jet lagged from a recent trip to Asia, that I have to get up at 5am for my job as a nurse, and that it now past dinner time, and we really need to end it NOW. Instead, he pulled out a heat lamp and asked for a plug so he could demonstrate some feature of the windows. My husband said, "Please, no, we're really not interested." The guy insisted. My husband said no again. The guy walked over to our outlet and plugged it in anyways and continued with the demonstration. My husband said aloud, "I really don't like this, that is not okay." The presenter completely ignored us. About ten minutes later, he FINALLY started to punch in the numbers -- this took half an hour, and I begged him to just email me the figures and we'd get back to him. Nope. Then he tried to sell the "efficiency" price (i.e. Buy it Now). It was seriously like a Cutco or a time-share presentation for windows and roofing. All in all, he was there from 5pm - 7:30pm, on a Monday night. The worst part was -- we actually liked the product and were okay with the price (which reflects a high-end product that we would hope would last the next fifty years in the house). But the hard sell combined with the complete disregard for our time and our wishes completely turned us off. After he left, we were both furious with how the whole night had gone. An estimate should take 30-45 minutes, tops. If your product has special features, leave me the brochure and I will research it on my own, or ask you questions if I want more information on the spot. At the very least, respect your customer's requests to end the meeting. So unhappy with this company.

This review is a modification of an earlier review that we wrote before we were award of several problems with the job. Power does extensive marketing — that is their #1 strength. BUYER BEWARE!! Door-to-door salesman… stays forever. We did look into the attic and saw black mold. The roof needed to be replaced, so we went with Power. In the contract we specified that we wanted the decking replaced as well. The contract also specified that they would not take the gutters off (we had Long gutters) as that would void the gutter warranty. The first thing the roofers did when they came out to replace the roof was to remove the gutters. The roofing company that came out to do the work was actually a subcontractor. They worked hard as a whole. They decided the decking did not need to be replaced, and presented that point. My husband and I still maintained that the decking should have been replaced, but we let Power make a professional recommendation, and it wasn’t done. They only replaced three boards that were bad, and said the rest were fine. The new roof looked good, but they were short some shingles and decided to replace a patch on the back of the garage with non-architectural shingles, which didn’t match the new roof. They hoped we wouldn’t notice, but we did. So they replaced that patch with the proper matching shingles. We had specified that we wanted soffit vents on the section of the roof that didn’t have those, so someone had to come out later and add those, which they did. So far, so good. Then, the Eclipse company that was going to follow up with insulating the roof came out to begin their work with the solar shield. They inspected the roof and could not agree to work on it because of the existence of mold. They could not guarantee their work. Needless to say, we were shocked. We had to have Serv-Pro come out to do mold remediation, at an added expense of $4100. Service-Pro did an excellent job, and we would recommend them highly. Following the mold remediation, the Eclipse folks could come out and began their Solar-Shield insulation job, which was not only to provide insulation but also to prevent ice dams. This work progressed as planned. A month later, in February of 2014, we heard a very loud gnawing sound in the middle of the night. The next morning I called a Conner’s Pest Control to come out and inspect. We had a female raccoon who had moved in, gnawing thru decayed wood in the soffit. The roofing company was supposed to replace any wood they found to be bad. They apparently did not think that was their problem, or they didn’t bother to find it. But they were a subcontractor. We had the decayed wood replaced and a one-way trap installed for the raccoon. She left and did not return. Thank you, Connor’s Pest Control! Since we got this new Power roof, we have had really impressive ice dams. Power came out and blamed the gutter system. We never had ice dams this bad before we did the new roofing and insulation. But Power says it’s not their problem. Unbelievably, they still call my husband trying to sell him things. We know better now.
