This is the third time I have used Horton Electrical for electrical projects in my home. The owner, Chuck Horton, responded within a day of purchasing the Big Deal. Chuck was able to fit me in within a week of purchasing the Big Deal. On the scheduled day of service, Chuck arrived on time, was personable and professional. In my opinion, Horton is the best electrical company in the Baltimore area. They are very honest and complete the work in a timely manner. Their work is of the highest quality. You won't be disappointed in this company.

I first met Chuck Horton when we bought an Angies "deal" for two hours of work. He impressed us with his professionalism, and when this year we purchased a portable generator to run our home in the event of a loss of electricity, I saw a deal on Angies List for the installation of a manual transfer switch for $875.00, which we would need unless we were to leave a door or window open and run extension cords throughout the house -- even then, we would not be able to connect manually to our furnace or hot water heater.

Because we were pleased with Mr. Horton's work I called him and asked if he could match the price. He said he could. Then I called back, and asked if I  offered him $1,000 would he also install new outlets in the basement and the garage so I would not have to keep the sump pump, the kitchen stove and the dehumidifier on long extension cords, plus provide more outlets in our garage. He said he could do that.

--

He came on the scheduled day, (we asked him to come early since we had a doctor's appointment early in the afternoon. When I got up at 7:15, to be ready when he came around 7:30, he was already at the front door waiting.

--

He used his cell phone, with an assistant at the main panel, and went through the house checking what was connected to each circuit. Then, together we chose the circuits that would connect to the manual 6 circuit generator switch. Then he went to work;  He completed all the work -- walked me through every step of moving the generator from its garage storage, the proper procedure to connect it to the new outside 240 weatherproof outlet, and the steps I should take in starting the generator (with no load on it. Then we turned off the main power box (which he explained we would not have to do if the power was actually off, took me to the new manual transfer switch box, and showed how each circuit switch was labeled (sump pump, refrigerator, hot water heater, bedroom area, living room and kitchen area. I discovered and he explained, that these circuits actually covered more than the label depicted - for example, the dining room is on the living circuit, etc.

We showed me the three position on the switches and explained those. and I switched them to - on - and we walked through the house noting that everything we had requested was operating, and the additional items on those circuits.

While we were in the basement he showed me the new outlet for the sump pump, and tested it, so I could see the pump was getting the power, and the power outlet for the igniter on the gas stove (the electric cord comes through the kitchen floor - but instead of needed a long extension cord to reach the outlet on the far wall, it now has its own outlet.

Then we went outside and looked at the watt gauge on the generator - and it showed we were not placing too heavy a load on it, and there is more than enough wattage remaining to handle the surge that several of the items require to begin.

After that he showed me that he had hooked up the stationary wire to the "trickle charger and maintainer" equipment I had bought with the generator, and told me about its use. He had changed the 2 outlet box to a 6 outlet box, as I had requested.

--

We went inside and reviewed all the work,  and I told him I would write him a check for the agreed upon $1,000.  he said, the job did not take as long as he thought, and the bill would be $950.00.

He cleaned up from his work, gave me the manual for the Reliance Transfer Switch before he left.

We will certainly call Mr. Horton is we need additional electric work.

Horton Electrical Services is an excellent contractor and I highly recommend them to anyone that needs electrical services performed in their home. Chuck arrived at my home on time and was very pleasant and professional. He went above and beyond the call of duty to work with a tricky configuration in my home in order to provide me with exactly the electrical services that I requested. I am so happy with the results and the service that I received that I bought another Angie's List deal right away so that Horton can come back and help me make my house even better. Thank you Horton Electrical Services!

He was earlier than scheduled which what a plus. Work was completed quickly and it was the temperature was in the 20's. He's a great guy to boot! He didn't rush, but was efficient. The work was done in a reasonable amount of timeh. I asked him about additional projects I was interested in getting done and plan on scheduling those projects as well. I have since saw that there are other electrical work to be done. I highly recommend Horton Electrical.

Purchased a big deal, 99$ for 2 hours of electrical labor.  Owner was professional and friendly from start to finish.  Showed up early and finished before the 2 hour limit.  All issues were resolved.  I was extremely happy with the work done and the company.  I would recommend to friends and would use their services again.

I bought the two hour deal for $130 knowing that it would take longer for the work that needed to be done. Chuck, the owner, was very responsive and scheduling was done promptly. Brad and Chris came to the house on time and were very professional and conscientious. Finding the source of the dead outlet was tricky but they were able to figure it out. I would definitely hire Horton Electric for any future jobs.

Mr. Horton arrived punctually and immediately went over the work I wanted done.  Once he had a clear picture of what I needed done, he went right to work, installing two new outlets and a new light, all of which included running conduit to the main electrical supply.  in addition, he replaced three very old light fixtures with new flourescent lighting, changing my basement from a dim work are to a brightly lit functional space.  I am still smiling each time I flip the switch and see how bright it is.....
The work he did was professional and good quality.  He also has fantastic customer relations skills.  he was patient with my barking dogs and my constant questions.  I was so pleased, that I definetly intend to have him back to complete future projects.  Thank you Mr. Horton!!

Scheduling was good. They were accommodating to my schedule. There were additional costs for the labor of having to run the new electricity. I was a little surprised at how high the cost was, but I just wanted to have the work done. They were absolutely wonderful! I would use them again in the future.

The electrician (there were two) called before arrival and were waiting for me when I came home. The kitchen and stove outlet repairs were done by one electrician while the other replaced the outside light fixture and changed the breaker in the utility room.--the deal was $130 for 2 hours of labor.  The work was completed within an hour and 100% to my satisfaction. Professionalism and impressive quality work -- Best deal yet!
