Mercury Home Remodeling

After researching windows and patio sliders, I found that Sunrise had the projected frame window that I was looking for and they put me in touch with Roger. He contacted me right away. I had another estimate from a very reputable company but Roger was more responsive and thorough in his estimate. The planning process took some time as I was choosing between the factory made projected frame window vs a site constructed one.  There must be several dozen emails between Roger and I for details and pricing options for the box bay window. He is very patient and answers all questions, and I had a lot.
I was not able to be home during the installation but Roger was communicative with choices by emailed pictures. There were a few little items like nonaligned door handles that was a minimal site adjustment issue, which Roger quickly took care of.
We are really thrilled with the results. The box bay adds so much light and space in a highly used area of our home. We have them open a  lot to hear the birds and get fresh air. The sliding door is truly one finger operation, a huge change from the two handed, full body planted effort that it took to open the previous door. The Provia French door will be a great entrance to a future deck.
Everything was tidied up well at the end of the installation, they swept and damp mopped.
Charges were just as expected for the contracted work. Roger had added an allowance for a torsion box support for the box bay that he did not need in the end, so credited that back to me for the final payment.

It was a good experience. They had a little mix up with some of the windows that didn't come in exactly right but he was prompt in doing that resolved. He was willing to make everything correct.

The contractor, Roger, president/owner of Mercury Home Remodeling, came to the house to examine the type and condition of windows and doors needing replacement.  Over a period of a couple of weeks, we discussed various options for the new windows and doors including restyling a kitchen window.  We chose an appropriate window style that met our budget.  One of the nice things about working with Mercury was being given choices without feeling pressured to buy the most expensive styles. Roger was very up-front about the characteristics of various windows (insulated frames vs. uninsulated frames, for example), which enabled us to make a comfortable decision that balanced quality and value.  
The installation was completed very quickly and the installers were friendly and professional. The work was completed within the amount of the initial estimate and without charges for possible extras such as rotted wood (old house = rotted wood, comes with the territory).  In one case, they went above and beyond the contract to remove some wood to open the space for the kitchen window.  They also repaired a sill and an existing window frame without additional charges. 
Also, I was very impressed by Roger's handling of a small problem with the manufacturing of the windows.  The windows themselves were the right size (custom-made), but there was a small misalignment of the grids. Roger has worked with the manufacturer to resolve the problem immediately, including remaking some of the windows with almost no turn-around time.  Given that every window is measured by hand and custom-made, I was not surprised by the misalignment -- I was, however, shocked by how fast they were examined, remeasured, and replaced!
I've worked with Mercury on several large renovation projects and have recommended them to others.  It was a pleasure to work with them, and I will use them in the future.

The gutters had been replaced a few years ago, but unfortunately they were installed badly, and as we learned from Mercury Home Remodeling, they were the wrong size.  So, we elected to replace the entire gutter system after a new roof was installed.  Roger, company president, shared numerous options with us including installing larger gutters to accommodate the amount of water running off of our steeply pitched roof.  He also recommended a type of gutter guard that would not clog.  The estimate was extremely competitive for the products we selected. As always with this kind of project, it's possible to run into problems with the existing structure. Roger provided estimates to cover any issues that arose.  We did have to replace a small amount of wood that, in the end, cost much less than expected.
The gutter system works great and looks fabulous.  The gutters and downspouts are actually attractive and the debris guards are working well.  The crew that installed the gutters was courteous and professional. They were careful to cover areas where they worked and to remove all debris. Given that we have dogs on the property they gave extra special attention to cleaning up all nails and any other sharp objects.  The job was done in two stages (gutters, then debris guards) on the timeline that was agreed, and the work was completed well within the estimated time.  I recommend Mercury highly. 

Roger Blitz, company owner, and his team were great from start to finish. Roger took the time to discuss various options during several phases of the project so we were very confident that we were getting good value and quality for what we spent. The estimates were spot-on accurate, and in several places where we thought we might have contingency costs (for example, replacing any rotted wood that was not immediately visible), the decision-making process was transparent, and it was obvious that we were charged only for work that needed to be done.  The small additional cost for wood replacement was well within the estimate provided.
 
The work was high-quality and the customer-service was superb. Roger was in contact with us frequently while we were waiting for ordered materials, and while the work was being done he made a point of being onsite often and staying in touch by email and phone.  All of the work was completed in a timely manner, and there was great attention to detail and quality. Clean-up was so thorough inside and out that we didn't have to do anything.  Everyone who worked on the job was courteous and made sure to keep the dogs safe and inside the property gates. Working with Mercury Home Remodeling was a wonderful experience.  I have referred them to several people and look forward to working with them in the future.

Roger Blitz from Mercury took a different.  He offered to have a crew come out for half a day and remove the existing fireplace which I had planned to replace.  With the fireplace out the the way and some wallboard removed, his crew could provide a thorough inspection of the damage so he could provide an accurate estimate.  He also indicated that he would organize the estimate in phases, grouping the necessary work based on urgency, in order to accommodate my budget.  As it turned out, the inspection took only half the expected time, and the result was much better than anticipated!  The damage was limited to directly under the fireplace.  Therefore, I was able to schedule a complete residing job including plywood/tyvek and a new window, repair to the interior ceiling and walls, a new chimney flue and fireplace with a tile surround, painting and wood floors.
The crew from Mercury did an excellent job on everything.  They were careful to capture pictures of the damage during deconstruction, and even corrected some issues with the existing windows installed by the previous contractor. Roger stayed in touch during the entire project, coordinated the fireplace installation with a sub-contractor, and organized the team's efforts.  he was careful to correct any issues (always minor) quickly, and was both easy and pleasant to work with.  John, who headed the crew, was friendly and skilled, and always took time to discuss next steps and give advice on decisions I needed to make.  He worked closely with me to design a tile surround that matched other tile work in my home, and did an excellent job! 
Bottom line, Mercury worked with me to correct a very difficult situation, stayed on budget, provided skilled labor at an excellent price, and completed the job as expected and on time.  I couldn't be more satisfied. 
I recommend Mercury highly and without reservation.

The team of workers including the plumber worked cooperatively in getting the job done and each one cleaned up the work area each day before leaving. They were professional, business like, but friendly!
