Elite Lock & Key

Quoted price on phone of $95 and appt made for 10:30 am. I called at 11:30 am when he did not show up. Elite staff said two people called in sick and they resheduled for 1 pm. He arrived at 1 and proceeded to change the outside lock. when he was finished he told me it would be $195. I asked why he did not inform me before he proceeded with the work that it would cost more than double the estimate. He explained it was more involved than originally thought but did not explain why he did not inform be before doing the work. We agreed on $150 which I paid him. The work was good quality but between missing the original appointment and not telling me it would be much more expensive than quoted, I could not recommend this merchant.

Was prompt, professional, and left things better than they were.  Although not an emergency they came out the same day I called and were even available earlier than my appointment when I called and told them I'd be home earlier than expected.

On time, on budget - straightforward and simple to work with.

They did excellent work. They were on time. They did what I asked them to do.

The technician showed up on time and was courteous and professional.  He rekeyed several doors to the outside for the price I was quoted.  When one of the new keys stuck in one of the locks, he took the entire mechanism apart again to make sure that all keys were working smoothly in every lock.  He accepted my 10% off Angie's list coupon (the web coupon looks like a place holder, and I had to call Elite to confirm it was 10% off), and was out of the house in less than an hour.   Would definitely use them again.

Elite was able to schedule a locksmith to come to our house the same day we called, even though our locksmith requirements weren't an emergency. The locksmith was very professional and helpful. 

He re-keyed our front and side doors and replaced the locking mechanism on our sliding patio door.  The only criticism we have of his work is that the next day, the tumblers on the front door seemed to have slipped and our key wouldn't unlock it.  When we called Elite about it, they sent him back to fix it within a couple of hours. He was very courteous and we haven't had any issues with it since.

It's a family-owned company, and I like that.  I like a smaller company because I feel we get more personal service.  I like to talk to people.  They did a great job at a fair price.  Their prices are within a reasonable ballpark of all other locksmiths because I have gone to other locksmiths.  They were on time, friendly, and very professional. 

Not only did my dead bolt fail but so did my door handle! I called Elite and they sent Seth out, who showed up within 30 minutes (and their shop is 15 miles away). He was extremely pleasant, patient and professional and actually was able to rebuild the door handle and latch rather than replacing it. Thus saving me another $70-80! I would not hesitate to call Elite (and especially Seth) again.

This is the third time I have used Elite since moving to Baltimore in May 2010. They re-keyed all the locks and replaced some locks and doorknobs when we first moved in. On each occasion they were remarkably prompt, courteous, firendly, responsive, professional, and reasonably priced. We closed on our house on a Friday and did not call them until Friday afternoon to rekey the locks. They were out bright and early the next day. They are open Saturday and do not charge extra for Saturday service. In my experience, you do not get this kind of consistently good service from a company unless it is run right from top to bottom. They were originally recommended by the listing agent on our house. I do not even think of using anybody else.

Quick response; locksmith was present within 2 hours of phone call. I was told the charge would be $75 for service call and then $10 per cylinder. I asked if they could rekey so that both locks would be on a master key and was told that this is what they do for the majority of cases. I asked if this affected the price and was told it did not. Turns out that one door was $27 for a new cylinder + $10 for a rekey and the other door was $10 for rekey only. At the end of the transaction, the locksmith asked if I had been told the keys themselves would be free. I said that it hadn't been mentioned one way or another, and he said that they would be $2 each but "some of the secretaries seem to be telling people that they're free." Overall, service was very prompt & quickly performed. Pricing details from the "main office," however, didn't seem to be completely transparent. I'd ask more questions next time....
