They have a nice place for the dogs.Very clean and neat. I think that is something you look for.You can't ask the dogs. We look at the place at first, to see if its professional and clean, but the price sticks in your mind the most. Pets they are very happy to get out, and see you. She was clean and neat and everything. She wasn't mistreated. Nothing happened while she was there. Just watched her, something we couldn't do. It was ok. I have nothing to compare to the price. In my mind its high, but I don't know why I am thinking that.

The people are very friendly. Didn't take long. Very friendly people. They could lower their price. We haven't been to another vet, so we can't compare, but it seems to be the going rate. Its like going to a doctor. The waiting area is nice and clean. They took her right in. They seem to know what they are doing.

The services have always been very professional, and the last one was too. The veterinarian even called a few days later to follow up on my cat's progress.

My regular vet's office is not carrying the canine influenza vaccine so I had to find another vet. I chose A-Paw veterinary as they were done the road from me. I do not recommend this place to anyone. I have a Great Dane/Lab mix that can be hard to control when she is nervous. I would not recommend A-Paw to anyone. My appointed time was 11:30 a.m. and the staff sent me into an examining room. It took them 1 hour to see me. Apparently, the vet who was to handle my dog was on an emergency. Emergency I understand. However, I poked my head into the hallway and asked if it was their practice to keep a client, particularly a new one, waiting 1 hour. My position is this. A vet tech or someone else could have said that my vet was on an emergency and either had another vet help me or ask me if I would like to reschedule. In my book, they had 5 more minutes and I was going to walk out of the place. I have contacted another vet to see if I can get my dog her second shot. I would not recommend A-Paw Veterinary to anyone.
Out of four stars, I would give them 0!

Dont endanger your pet by using Dr. Strother. My dog is a tripod with herniated discs in his neck and a persistent myobacteria infection that must be monitored biannually. He normally sees a specialist in Virginia, but he was due for a blood test to check on his myobacteria infection and I thought I would save myself the 2-hour-each-way drive and have the test done locally and then send results to the specialist. I made an appointment saying I only wanted the myobacterial blood test. I had one of the first appointments of the day, but Dr. Strother was over an hour late. By the time he arrived, my dog was beside himself with fear. Dr. Strother said he was late because he had been reading my dog's chart. Then he started asking me questions that proved he hadn't read the chart or even looked directly at my dog. I took the time to walk him through my dog's medical history and repeated twice that I just needed a blood test for myobacteria. He insisted that he had to do an general exam before he could do a blood test. Then he said that he needed to do a complete blood panel and that would tell me what I needed to know about the myobacteria. I said I just needed the myobacteria test but Dr. Strother said I had to do all the other tests at the same time. $600 later, my specialist tells me that Dr. Strother didn't do the right test, and that I didn't need to pay for a complete blood panel or an exam to get the information I needed. I just needed the one test I had originally asked for. I ended up just driving to Virginia to have the test redone. Im still furious. Either Dr. Strother was deliberately trying to get me to spend money on tests I didn't need, or he really didn't know what he was doing and was just guessing. It's shameful either way.

Our dog needed a pre-boarding evaluation prior to his stay. This also
included a veterinary exam. He required a fecal parasite screen prior
to boarding so we had that done there as well. All his other shots were
up to date. We were able to tour the facility at the time of his exam.
The pre-boarding evaluation and fecal test cost about $60.00. The vet
and technician were friendly and calm and were very good with our dog.
The facility was small but clean. They have a fenced-in outdoor area
and the boarding fee included 3 daily walks. We decided to board our
dog there as the facility was close to our house, the staff was good
with our dog, and their hours for pick-up and drop-off were convenient.
Because A-Paw is a veterinary hospital, we also had peace of mind
knowing a vet was on the premises. We picked up our dog early on a
Saturday morning and he was nice and clean. A brief, written summary
regarding our dog's appetite, biological functions, appearance, and
weight were noted on the invoice. Our dog appeared happy and healthy
after his boarding experience.

I have discussed this company before but just wanted to say again that my dog is now a year old and they have treated him like a king from Day #1. LOVE this wonderful vet hospital.

I love this veterinary clinic. Over the phone, the receptionists were friendly and full of information. We arrived at the clinic 15 minutes early and were greeted by caring receptionits who clearly loves animals. The reception area is beautiful and very well decorated. We were seen on time, first by a Vet Aid who just gushed about how cute and well behaved our puppy is. She kissed him and he snuggled up to her. She proceeded to offer so much information and answered all questions that my husband and I had. Next, the vet, Dr. Johnson came out. She was dynamite, well versed and clearly competent and knowledgeable. Our puppy was diagnosed with ear mites. My husband and I were told not to be worried. We were shown how to apply his medicine. They had us make an appointment to return in 2 weeks. This is clearly a clinic run by staff who LOVE pets and it showed in such positive ways!

Recently they have tried to get us to pay for procedures that seem unnecessary. It s a little excessive to spend $25,000 on a 17 year old cat. They are an average vet, they aren t exactly exceptional in terms of customer service. You can tell that they care about your animal though and when we call with a problem they are able to fit us in the same day. They could be a bit more conscious about their customers and they re a bit pricey too.

I really like them. They are compassionate and caring. They don't push services on you.
