The Sila HVAC representative was courteous, professional and thorough. He advised me that a part will need to be replaced in the future, but no action was needed now. He asked me if I'd like a quote and the company called me with a quote the very next day. Noticing that the furnace filter was about due for a change, the HVAC representative went ahead and did that, too, and let me know he had. I appreciate.both his work and the heads-up!

The original reason for the appointment was for a tune-up of our heater. We had been having difficulty with a rattling noise in the pipes. We have an old baseboard heating system from the mid-60s and I do not think it has received much professional attention in the course of its life. We are the second owners of the property. When the repair man showed up (on time), he completed the tune up and then addressed my concern about the pipes rattling. He examined the system, diagnosed it as air in the pipes, drained the system and replaced the rubber washer that created the seal between the pipes. This was where he said the air had gotten into the pipes and the water had leaked out. His handwork has lasted all winter (the first appointment was on December 4th). I will be arranging another appointment with this company as the noise has started again and I believe another rubber washer has failed as I have heard what sounds like water draining from the pipes the past week when the heat is not on. The initial seasonal tune up was about $60.00 and the cost of the additional work was around 200.00.
Description of Work: A seasonal tune-up and then rubber seal/rubber washer replacement to make the system airtight again.

The check up went well. From the very beginning with the Office Manager confirming the appointment, to Dave the Technician, was very professional and thorough. He was very attentive to all of my questions and concerns. I had a thermostat that was frozen & useless. Dave had the type of thermostat that we were interested in replacing, so that was an additional cost that we were prepared to pay for and purchased. I will use Sila again in the future and would highly recommend them to friends & family.

Whenever I had my furnace serviced, they had the whole thing done. Here, the guy comes out and just tunes a little bit. He never checks the oil and never checks the filter. I think it was part of the deal. I didn't know about it. They didn't service fully. I had a guy come out and looked at everything, but he still hasn't got back to me with an estimate. Although, I told them I will not be doing it until fall. He did what he was supposed, but I didn't understood why he did an incomplete job.

They told me what the problem was. The serviceman knew exactly what the problem was and told me that the part was hotter that it should be and that it would stop working at some point. The noise stopped once I had the part replaced. They also gave me a price for the repair. He was a very courteous gentleman and communicated with me which is always important. I was pretty confident with them and pleased with the service. He showed up when he was supposed to be here and asked me if it would be okay if he came a little earlier which I was okay with.
Description of Work: It was a deal for $99 for a furnace or boiler tune-up. They changed the filter and my furnace had been louder than it had been and they did the inspection.

Fabulous. Very professional and approachable. Checked each radiator and found one that was apparently shut down years ago (before I moved in; always wondered why that room was so cold - and have had other technicians check the furnace annually for ten years). Great job.

My furnace had gone out, late afternoon on 1/06/15. I contacted Sila the following day, to see if I could get anyone out to check the issue. Sila was able to schedule a visit by a tech early the next morning. On 1/08/15, the service tech (Dave) arrived promptly @8:30am. He was able to discover the problem fairly quickly and said he would have to replace the thermocouple. The whole process was completed in about 15min. After this was done, the boiler flame was ignited once again and Dave stayed an ADDITIONAL 20min after that to insure that the radiators were getting warm. In addition to the quick fix, Dave gave me a discount on the thermocouple, since he already had a new one out of the bag. This generosity saved me an additional $100 on the overall cost and I was extremely grateful for that. I thanked him for the prompt response and the quick fix. I will have no hesitation in calling Sila again, if needed. Great service!

How did they do? In a word.. "EXCELLENT"! Lets face it if you are reading this on Angie's List you probably have searched several high ranking providers in your area. I did the same thing relying heavily on the Angie's List grading system and the user comments. So to make things a little easier I will eliminate the "fluff" and give you the reason why I rated them "A" in all categories and while I will use them again. - COMMUNICATION: From the first inquiry to the end of the project they answered the phone, addressed questions & concerns, and provided answers that not only made sense but were followed up by action. They didn't give you answers you wanted to hear and they actually listened to what you had to say. VERY PROFESIONAL! - ESTIMATION: This was a relocation of a unit that has some weight to it. Not exactly an easy move. Most company's required a crane to move the unit to the third floor. Translation... VERY expensive. Some said it would not be possible at all and I should just landscape around the unit and move on. I even had a couple of providers tell me they could do it over the phone without an inspection. A recipe for disaster. Sila Baltimore spent some time... in person... evaluating the request using logic and common sense and provided me with a solution that was workable and within budget. No crane. No landscaping. Just years of experience and a willingness to work with the owner to get the job done. - PEOPLE: The uniformed representatives never enter your house without shoe covers. Who does that these days? They project manager who conducted the estimate returned prior to the work being preformed in order to ensure a smooth evolution. When the work was being preformed the crew covered floors and protected surfaces. When the work was done everything was cleaned and left in the original condition. They worked straight through the project and stayed on schedule. - COST: Budgeted $3,000 Actual $2,980. I got the full range of estimates for this project. I contacted about 5 providers and received 3 quotes. Sila Baltimore was in the middle BUT I'm confident the work will last so in the long run it probably saved me money. I was a former Marine who is a small business owner. I can appreciate the value of a professional operation and by no means am I hemorrhaging cash. I did the research and I knew what I was getting into. This company is the real deal and I would highly recommend them for your project.
Description of Work: Relocate condenser unit from ground level (backyard) to roof level (3 stories) rerouting coolant lines through a historic Baltimore townhouse.

Provider was punctual. Provider did diagnostic and discovered that the thermostat wasn't working correctly and the coils were dirty. Quoted price to install new thermostat, which I declined. Price was $200 to clean off the coils. Provider wouldn't apply the Angies coupon and put $300 on my credit card, saying he didn't understand the Angie's coupon stuff would have the office call me to clarify. They didn't call--I had to call them next day.The office was courteous and did correct the error on my card.

Vacuumed out air conditioning/heating vents and changed the air filter, which I had already purchased. I was looking for a service that would make any needed adjustments to the duct work in a downstairs bedroom to improve the heat flow in winter. The service man suggested I keep the HVAC fan on and said he could not access the ducts because they were inside the wall. I would have paid extra to have this done. The cost was just $60.00 so minimal service was provided.

Sila sent out a guy (sorry, I forget his name) shortly after we purchased the Big Deal. Which was good because there was still some warm days left in the season and our AC was busted. The repair man was friendly, professional, informative and transparent as to what was being done and why. Our AC fix was due to a burnt power feed wire (thanks to a friend-of-the-family install). He charged us a reasonable rate to make the quick repair as well as adding a tuneup for the second unit. At the end, we had a good assessment of where our systems stood and had the peace of mind that we were in good shape for the upcoming winter. Very happy in the end...
Description of Work: We purchased a Big Deal for a Seasonal Furnace or Air-Conditioner Tune-Up. But, we had an existing issue with our primary unit, where the AC didn't work properly. So, we ended up having both units "tuned up" and a repair made to one of our units.

I'm very happy with my A/C installation, but there was one hiccup. The guy who did the estimate and scheduling told me the blower unit could be in my attic, but it didn't end up fitting there. So I lost a closet and gained a big air duct that will require dry walling when I get around to it. Other than that, the installers were hard working and clean (they tidied everything up at the end of each day's work), and the A/C system works great.
