Description of Work: I had a complete HVAC system replacement. Our previous system was 18 years old and we pushed it as far as I would want to before this year's winter.__|We had the following equipment installed._1. Bryant Evolution System; Two - Stage Heat Pump/Condenser - Model 286BNA048_x000D_|2. Bryant Evolution Variable Speed, Fan Coil Furnace/Air Handler - Model fe4anf005+UI_|3. Bryant Steam Humidifier - Model UMXXSTM3034 4. Bryant ERV Ventilator - Model ERVXXLHB1200_|5. Bryant Evolution System Control - Model SYSTXBBUID01-D__|Don Hoffacker's salesman/Lead Technician was extremely knowledgeable about the system he offered us. He had more knowledge than any of the other folks we got quotes from. (Brian)_|Don Hoffacker's offered the best price for what we were looking for. They also offered 0% financing for 12 months through GE Capital._|The service team came out on the date agreed upon and completed the job within that one visit, including removing the previous system. (Brian, Scott, Phillip & Mike). They were thorough, professional, courteous and were able to place equipment according to my wishes with no problems. The end job looked superb._|There are only three things that we are not completely satisfied with._|The first was the Bryant Steam Humidifier. It works very well but it is noisy as well. We could hear it running at night while sleeping in our bedroom as if it was in the room with us. It would go "Thunk!!!" everytime the water would shut off in the system. Brian came back and removed the feed pipe off of the intake shaft and that has helped reduce the sound but we have chosen not to run it at night at all instead.__|The second thing was an oder in our storage room whenever we run the ERV. When it isn't running the oder goes away. Fortunately the oder is contained only to the storage room._The third and most important thing is the cost of running the system. We have purchased a system that is far more efficient than our previous one and we realized there would be additional costs in running a steam humidifier and ERV but the cost have exceeded our estimates We thought at worst, our costs would be break even but we have found our costs are far more than that. For example: Last year this time, we spend $446.74 for electric. This year we spent $538.48. Granted, this year is much colder than the last. We used to allow are system to run at 72F when everyone is home and 68F when everyone is sleeping or away. This year we have it at a constant 68F. We might raise it when we have guest. We also stopped running the ERV when the temperature goes below 40F and only run it in 'Low" fan speed only now. When running on automatic it would run almost constantly, regardless of outdoor temperatures and always at 'High' speed._We have noticed and improvement in air quality. You don't have lingering cooking smells or musty or stale air smells in the house with the ERV running. The humidifier has stopped all the winter bloody noses from dry air. I might be rating Don Hoffacker's unfairly with the 'B' ratings but we are disappointed with the operating costs of our system so far.

Description of Work: The technician arrived a few minutes early and went straight to work. He answered all my questions and offered suggestions for making my system work more efficiently. He was very polite and courteous, and cleaned up the area when he was done.

Description of Work: Came out and diagnosed A/C problem. Installed temporary new motor to bring A/C relief with option to convert to new A/C System - allowing us time to evaluate whether or not we wanted a new system without having to be under unnecessary pressure. After researching options and pricing, decided to have them install completely new A/C AND gas furnace system because rebates and tax credits available at the time made it the most sensible decision. Therefore, we benefited from using Hoffhacker's service because they did not charge us for the temporary motor installation that allowed us to regain our summer A/C temporarily until we made the decision as to whether or not we would have a new system installed. (Note - We would have had to pay for the new A/C motor, had we not gone ahead with the new A/C system, but it gave us the comfort and peace of mind to make that decision carefully.)

Description of Work: He fixed my AC and then cleaned the outdoor unit for free. He waited patiently to see how well his repairs chilled the air and then asked if he could load coolant for a reasonable fee. Great guy. For once the extras provided cost very little extra and helped avoid a return call for poor cooling. This seems to be a somewhat smaller company than ones I have used previously. They were so nice from beginning to end. I will be using their services in the future.

Description of Work: Once again Hoffacker's excellent, prompt, fairly priced, professional repair shows customers how MOST service contractors would work back in the 50's-70's. They are "Old School" in the best sense of the term... Honest, no confusing sales nonsense, straight to the point, giving you the facts (good or bad), and not hesitant to offer advice that saves you $$, when they COULD make big $$ for themselves instead. It makes me sound (and feel) like an old codger... but dammit! Why are people like this so RARE anymore? Why is honest, transparent, ethical workmanship, done like Don's group of guys, the exception and not the rule? Richard was on time, worked quickly, laid out the possible solutions, fixed the part (picked from a well-stocked van), closed it all up, cleaned up after himself, and presented the (very reasonable) bill, all in less than an hour! Showed me the (obviously broken) part, even though I didn't request to see it. Why? Because he cares about his work, and cares about my satisfaction as a paying customer! Simple as that. And to complete my transition to "old codger-dom", try holding this experience up to your last visit to Best Buy or your Car Service shop. Makes me wanna' smack those smarmy little whippersnappers upside their condescending little hollow brain-bucket with a cane! Description of Work: My gas furnace was not working needed a induction assembly. I called to scheduled service, Tim came out to replace the part during the install another part was accidently broken. The company had the part shipped overnight and installed within 2 days. Because of the mishap with the install they waived the service charge and discounted the part. On 1/22/13 my furnace was not working properly totally unrelated to the part installed. I called them and service was scheduled for the next day again the service was excellent. I am so impressed with this company that I have decided to get a maintenance service contract with them.

Description of Work: We made the appointment a week in advance. They called to change the time, 1 day prior. They didn't show up and didn't call.

Description of Work: We called them on a Saturday because our 13 year old Air Handler died. Their service technician, Mike, arrived that afternoon and was able to temporarily resurrect the unit, although he told us it would last "between an hour and a week". We asked about replacement units and I researched replacements, deciding to replace the Air Handler and Heat Pump with the units they recommended. All of their personnel presented themselves professionally and were polite. The installation went very well and our upstairs is warmer than it ever was with the old unit. They covered the walkway to keep our floors clean, cleaned up the driveway, walked us through operation of the units, and removed the old equipment. Top notch company and service, even sending us a Thank You for using them.

Description of Work: I called this provider on a Saturday morning and they were able to send someone within two hours. Tim greeted me. He was very personable and very knowledgeable about heat pumps. I don't like the way heat pumps work very much but my little heater wasn't sufficient for the entire home. Tim was able to get it working within no time. I could have gone through my home owners warranty but I couldn't find any reviews on that company so I wanted to select a company that I felt comfortable letting into my home. Tim did a great job and gave me a quote on a new system that was considerably less than that of what I had budgeted. Simply because you have a home owners warranty does not mean you have to use their affiliates. Home owners you have a choice!

Description of Work: We have a 2 zone HVAC in our home. The upstairs zone has been working, just not well enough to keep up with over 90 degree days. After a poor experience with a company that works for my husbands company Landlord, I came to my favorite place, ANGIE'S LIST. I picked this company due to reviews, location and coupon. They heard my story about my autoimmune disorder which is affected by heat and offered to send someone after hours. I elected to wait until the next day. Glen was eatly for our appointment and phone communication was superior he spent over 1 1/2 hours checking out the system. He made several great suggestions like an attic fan, more insulation and a hard starter in case it wasn't always coming on as often as it should. He could not have been more honest and helpful. We are trying his suggestions now. We asked for a new unit proposal in case we decide to replace the unit. He provided a fair quote for us Also, told me about coupons they had available for this service as well. If we do decide on a new unit , we WILL use this company. Also, for any future issues we may have This is a first class company with fair pricing. I highly recommend them.

Description of Work: IOur 30 year old heating/air conditioning unit was about to die after multiple ressucitations over the years. Don Hoffacker's service was the highest rating in both Angie's List and Washington Checkbook, and I can see why. They were prompt, thorough, polite, clear about exactly what they would do and how much it would cost, and arrived on time. They cleaned up thoroughly and had a team to do the job. I cannot say enough good things about them. I wish all of the contractors I hired were like them. There would be only happy customers.

Description of Work: I have a service agreement with DON HOFFACKER'S AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING and have twice yearly free checkups for my HVAC unit. Scheduling an appointment was easy. The technician arrived on time, was very professional, helpful, and knowledgeable. I used to have service contract with a larger company but when I had difficulty making appointments (Two of which that company had canceled- once without notifying me), I switched to DON HOFFACKER'S AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING. I am glad I did. The technician even gave me suggestions as to how I could save on heating bills by choosing where to install the air filter. The technician did a full inspection of my heating system, air filter, coils, fan, motor, etc.
