+ -1 moreTheir work made a huge difference for us. He explained to me they did. Before there was a 12 inch vent coming from the furnace and it went to a box. It 3 12 inch vents coming from the box, so we had no air pressure. Don Hoffacker's made a bigger duct coming from the furnace and smaller ones coming from the box, which gave us some air pressure. They had to do the work on their backs in a crawl-space. They had 3 of their guys come to do the work. They did the work and did it when they said they would. Also they explained to me what they had done, and they explained to me how to adjust the vents for the different seasons.
Description of Work: Don Hoffacker's Air Conditioning and Heating came out and did work on our air conditioner. They redid the vents for the heating and air conditioning in an addition that had been added before we bought it. The vented from the furnace to the addition.

+ -1 moreI was very, very impressed. From the beginning, they were able to schedule us very quickly and I was very impressed with the professionalism of the woman I spoke with on the phone. When Tim arrived, he quickly diagnosed the problem, explained what was going on, and fixed it quickly. He stayed to make sure everything was working after he fixed the igniter, and was friendly, courteous and professional the whole time.
Description of Work: Our furnace was broken, and Tim from Don Hoffacker came to check it out. He discovered that the igniter was broken, and found a part to fix it.

+ -1 moreHaving done some furnace work about 2 weeks ago, it was necessary to contact Hoffacker's to return to determine what had made my furnace stop working. I stopped by their office and they immediately contacted a service mechanic who then arrived at my home in about 25 minutes. The mechanic quickly determined that the problem was in the thermostat, which he replaced. The mechanic, Richard, was professional, efficient, and very informative. I was able to get my furnace working within minutes, after he had done another checkup of the working system of the furnace. As I have done in the past, I highly recommend Hoffacker's.
Description of Work: Furnace check-up after previous work completed about two weeks ago to my satisfaction at that time. Replacement of thermostat.

+ -1 moreTechs and office staff were very nice and professional. Tech spent time to teach me about the furnace and how to manage the ducts / dampers. (Recently moved from old house w/ heat pump only).
Description of Work: Technician called to diagnose sporadic shutdown of furnace. Problem was not displaying on 1st visit, but technician completed a preventative maintenance (which apparently isn't much on a furnace). $85. Problem displayed after 1st technician left. Office sent the next available person in following am. Problem observed and solved by replacing pressure switch (interlock for blower motor). $190. Service was good but cost was high. Part goes for about $50. My total cost was about $280.

Description of Work: The technician was on time and explained things to me that I could understand. I have 2 zones so I had 2 units put in. The guys were very courteous and kept me informed. When I had the WSSC inspector in he said all praises for the company and how they did great work. I would highly recommed them for any HVAC needs. Their prices are fair and ther work is fantastic!

They were courteous, professional, and centered on my concerns, And something else that I noticed: these people were proud to be working for their company. That's a tribute all the way to the top, to Don Hoffacker who, incidentally, took the time to send me a personally signed Thank You card for my business. Well, thank you, folks.
Description of Work: My 18-year old furnace failed on a Saturday evening in January when the temperature was headed down into the teens (great timing). I called Hoffacker's because the firm has an excellent reputation on Angie's and also in my community... and was connected to their answering service. I appreciated speaking to a live person. She was sympathetic and informed me that a Hoffacker's technician would contact me at 8 AM the next morning (Sunday), which he did within a couple of minutes of 8. He committed himself to getting me on their schedule for Monday (I already possessed a recent furnace estimate from them, so he could access the necessary information.) Two technicians arrived promptly on Monday morning, removed the old machine and installed a new Bryant furnace. Heat never felt so good. I was pleased with the efficiency, courtesy, and speed with which they worked. The next day I noticed that the furnace seemed to be working at too a high of a noise level, especially noticeable with the large air intake grille in my hallway. I phoned Hoffacker's and spoke to Glenn, the manager. He said something to the effect of "Sir, we will send a crew right out to your house and they will fix this situation to your satisfaction." I liked his attitude very much. Well, the crew of two, led by Brian, arrived on schedule and agreed that the furnace was running too noisily. They quickly adjusted it to a slow speed and made certain that this setting coordinated with my air conditioner's needs. (Excuse my technology.) When they were done, the system ran quietly again. Finally, the hall air intake grille was in poor condition, probably contributing to the noise, and Brian offered to order a new one and replace it, which a third crew did about a week later.

+ 0 moreThe water heater was previously too close to furnace, making it difficult to replace furnace filters. The estimator said there was no problem in moving the furnace a few inches to make it easier to change filters. The first thing that the team leader fro the installer said was how much extra time that would take and perhaps the estimator should come and do it. The installer eventually did all work as promised, including a relief tank on top required by code.
Description of Work: The water heater was replaced along with the furnace.

+ -1 moreThe service tech, Dave, was great. Unfortunately, the office staff were not as reliable or professional, and I got some confusing messages as confirmations. Suggest they do some quality control on their office staff, making sure that all messages left contain complete and clear information. They also kept calling my home number when I asked them to call my cell, so that I missed the call that Dave was coming an hour early! However, when he arrived, he was courteous, pleasant and professional and did a great job.

Description of Work: It was a hot day in the Washington area and our air conditioning started to leak water from the second floor, were the air handler is located. He took measurements and got information to do the estimate, and then installed the programmable thermostat. Brian was so upbeat and professional while he programmed and explained the thermostat, and then gave me estimates for three, not one, different models of heating systems. Brian is a real asset to the company. I'm completely satisfied.

I had used Don Hoffacker in the past and received excellent service for a reasonable price. Hoffacker?s price was in line with others but included a 10 year labor warranty from Bryant and a Bryant digital control. The installers were very professional. They installed the air handler in a very tight space but did an excellent job.

+ -1 moreThe cooling in the upper floors of our townhouse was insufficient, so I called Hoffacker's to get a quote for the possible addition a second HVAC unit. Instead, they recommended that I install a unit to convert my Bryant system to perform a second zone function. Since installation, the performance change has been very effective and efficient. The crew arrived on time, did good work, and was very polite and professional. They also provided some excellent recommendations for adding a very small and efficient unit in the future is we decide to cool the loft area.

Description of Work: Company addressed issues with HVAC in our rental unit in Germantown, MD. Don cleaned and serviced unit, adjusted fan speed, etc. to ensure the unit was fully functional and operating properly. Turns out the unit had a bad blower motor. + -1 moreWe have two thermostats in our house: one on the top floor that controls the air conditioning and one on the ground floor that controls the heat. Apparently the wire between the furnace and thermostat on the second floor shorted out in a couple of places. The technician determined this during the first service call for a reasonable flat fee of $89. Because the wire winds its way through our house, replacement of the wire would result in multiple walls and ceilings being cut into. For this reason the technician suggested using a wireless thermostat. The technician said the receptionist would call back with prices and options for the wireless thermostat within a couple of days. Several days later (before they called), it dawned on me that we could use the downstairs thermostat for controlling both the heating and air conditioning. I was a bit disappointed that the technician didn't offer this suggestion. On the second visit, the technician laid new wire to the downstairs thermostat (no walls were cut into for this). A week later, the receptionist finally called back with the prices for the remote thermostat. So, overall, the work was done well. The technician was professional and helpful. The cost was reasonable. The receptionist was not prompt with the remote thermostat info and the technician lacked a little ingenuity for not coming up with the final solution. But, still, I'm happy with the result and would use them again.
