Don Hoffacker’s Air Conditioning & Heating

I called Don Hoffacker's after another (highly rated) service provider gave me a bad feeling, a high service call fee, and a non-comittal time frame. The receptionist was great - she was very up front about the pricing and promised a tech that afternoon (between 2-4). The tech "Carl" showed up within (although toward the end of) the promised window. Carl was very conscientious about telling and showing me exactly what he was doing and why. I explained up front that I was moving soon and was not keen on making any expensive repairs. He initially thought there were two potential causes of my problem - one expensive, one not. He ruled out the inexpensive cause pretty quickly and I was expecting a costly repair estimate, but he was careful to point out a couple of less expensive (though stop-gap) solutions in case it was the bigger problem. After further examination, Carl actually ruled out the big issue. Turns out my problem was actually minor, and Carl pointed out some "self-help" remedies to boost perfornance of my system. In the end, my only cost was the initial service call charge, and I got a big education. I felt the company was extremely reputable - they were upfront and honest, and offered realistic options based on my personal circumstances. Although it was obvious I knew nothing about AC repair, they didn't try to take advantage of my ignorance. To the contrary, they did everything they could to help me learn how to take care of my system and avoid unnecessary costs. I would definitely use them again and will recommmend them to all of my friends.

I called Don's and the lady who answered was very friendly and explained their pricing and what came with it service wise. I opted for the maintainance check for fall and spring since that package would include a discount on any services required. They were able to go out and check on the house the next day and my renters said they arrived on time and did the routine maintenance check as required. I feel like I got what my money paid for and nothing major was wrong with the AC unit. I will use them again in the futue for any AC needs.

We've had problems with our air conditioning since we moved in two months ago. We had to have the thermostat replaced, and a new fuse installed after our power went out in early July. We had someone come to look at it, who replaced a small amount of refrigerant, but it only worked for about a week or so before it stopped keeping up with the setpoint. We called our home warranty company to come out and assess the situation, when we found that it wasn't installed correctly. However, it wasn't covered, and the company that assessed this situation couldn't fix it for 3-4 days, and we'd already been without A/C for three days. So, I found this place on Angie's List, and they said they could come and look at it between noon and 3:00. Brian showed up at 11:45 and found that the A/C unit didn't have the correct amount of refrigerant for the length of line, and wasn't charged properly. He added 3 pounds of refrigerant and made sure it was charged before he left. It's now nice and cool inside!

The fan in my AC unit outside stopped working, and of course it was on a Saturday! I called them after checking their reviews, and left my information for someone to call me back. They never did, so I called them again on Monday morning, and they set up an appointment for Tuesday between 9 and 11 am. The technician came shortly before 11. It was the capacitor which was bad. He quickly replaced it, pointed out some electrical switch outside which would need to be fixed, gave me an estimate for that one, and left. I had a $ 20.00 coupon that I downloaded from Angie's List, so I used it as well.Very good experience with them, except for the fact they forgot about me during the weekend!

Frank came out to assess the initial issue (freon leak) and provided sound advice on whether or not to refill it, to by a window unit or try to manage until a new unit could be installed. He priced out a new unit and they were able to install just two days later! The team worked on financing offers from the dealer providing the lowest out-of-pocket cost for us. Now that's customer service. Mike S., Craig and Mr Don came promptly on the day of the install and got everything set up and the house cool again! They were very professional and courteous. My prior experience with another 'big named' vendor left my feeling unhappy with the customer service I received. That led me to Angie's list and thankfully I found Don Hoffacker's, which happens to be very close to our home too! You have a new customer for life!

They sent a guy out the next day. He was supposed to come between 3-5, but came at 2:00 because I had told the dispatcher I would be home at 2:00. How's that for service?He was polite, efficient and very knowledgeable. He gave me a lot of info about our system, fixed it in about 1/2 hour and left with recommendations. Could not have been happier with their service

The repairman showed up during the time window and was very knowledgeable and professional. He came to do the A/C check-up. He fixed some minor problems with our equipment. We have a two zone system, so he had to go up into the attic to check the second unit. He changed the filters. He explained in detail his findings on the state of our A/C. We were very satisfied with the service call.

The technicians(Joel,Mike & Alex) showed up at my house as scheduled**approximately 0830**and immediately began tearingout the old furnance and air conditioner.They were able to complete the demolition of the old system and install the new system all in my day!I,mention this only because other AC companies had told me it would take a minimum of 2 days too complete the job.They worked in an expedient and professional manner and left the work area spotless.I was most impressed with the overall workmanship of the Techs**everything was installed neatly and uniformed**no evidence of shoddy work.Before they left,they gave me a tour of the job and were able too patiently answer all my questions and concerns.The air conditioner was already cooling off the house as Joel was explaining the operation of the thermostat! From their great sales staff led by Carl Boxall who knows the ins and outs of all systems and the professionalism and knowledge ofthe installation techs**I think we have a winner!

July Storms knocked out power and the subsequent power surge damaged our A/C unit over the weekend. I called Don Hoffacker’s on Sunday and left a message at their answering service. They called me back first thing Monday morning and were able to schedule an appointment that same day. The technician was in contact and able to squeeze me in even earlier than anticipated. He was prompt and efficient - had our A/C fixed within an hour. He replaced a part and topped off the freeon. I asked for a quote on replacement for the A/C unit as it is quite old but have yet to receive a response.

Great company to work with. Much lower estimate than the competition for the same equipment, responded very quickly both to do the estimate and to install, especially given serious heat had just arrived and they were very busy. Did a good job installing, answered questions, have been available for follow-up. Definitely recommend.

I have been using his services for many years on several different occasions. I think he is excellent. They aren’t cheap, but they do great work. They are always on time and do a great job. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

I called Don Hoffacker's and said that our A/C was broken. A person (rather than a machine answered) -- she said to first check the circuit breaker (which of course I should already have done but I have not been thinking straight as a result of 6 days without power!) and - VOILA! - problem solved in 2 minutes for $0. How much better can it get?

The technicians arrived on time,were courteous and fully explained everything they did. They even made a slight modification to the filter housing, at no extra charge, so I can now use a standard size filter.Sofar the unit is working perfectly, just in time for the 100 degree heat. I will definitely use them again.

The person who came out was on time, called half an hour before arrival, was very knowledgeable. He explained everything about the system and what he was looking for. Great experience. Would highly recommend.

I found him on Angie's List. He is excellent. He treats the customer as a person. If the person complains about something or wants to do something, he is ready to help. I would use him again.

In all our dealings with Hoffacker's over the years - they installed our heater/AC system years ago - I find that they are prompt, helpful, friendly, competent and fair. What more could we ask?

My A/C broke down Sunday June 10th. I called a company from whom I purchased 2 "Big Deals" for an A/C clean & check. They were not polite, not professional.....and they disappointed me in showing up. Monday evening, I searched Angie's List for an A/C company with A's in every category. Don Hoffacker's Air Conditioning & Heating had all A's. I called them, left a message, & early Tuesday morning, they returned my call. Hoffacker's technician, Mike, was prompt, professional, nice, and knew exactly what the problem was. This company did not disappoint and I asked to schedule them for other non-emergency electrical work. I am sure they will call. I am sure they will be professional. I am sure they will get the job done. I am sure I will continue to call them again & again. This is a company that deserves A's in every category.

The work will take place this week. I'm certain it will go fine.

In both cases I felt the technicians gave good advice about maintaining older appliances which pre-date my residency in the house.

Overall they were professional, curteous and effective.

Except for the price, I was satisfied with their work.

I could not be more happy with this service. I called Don Hoffacker's on the recommendation of my home inspector because my furnace would not ignite and blow warm air. I had another company come out to look at it and they not only couldn't pin point the problem after charging me $100 for 30 minutes of "troubleshooting" but they recommended costly work that would not have fixed the problem (cleaning the inducer and heat exchanger). It took them a few days to come out since it was not an emergency as it is not that cold in May and they were servicing air conditioning units first (as they should). Harry came to the house and was very friendly, professional and knowledgable. He listened to everything I had to say and answered all of my annoying questions. He showed us everything he was doing and explained it in laymans terms. He really went above and beyond what I had expected. For example, I asked him if he could easily check the heat exchanger without out pulling the whole thing apart. He immediately removed the blower motor/fan and basically climbed into the furnace to take a look. it was that that time he noted that the blower motor was installed upside down and immediately fixed it. I will definitely go to Don Hoffacker's to service my AC and to replace my systems when the time comes.

I called them on a Saturday morning and they didn't have any availability until the following Tuesday. It wasn't a serious issue as the outside temperature was in the 50s. If it was the middle of the winter it would have been a problem. The serviceman arrived on time on Tuesday and tried to get our heat going by bypassing the bad cirucit. Unfortunately, the entire board was fried and he was unsuccessful. He said he didn't know if they would have it in stock, but someone from the office would call to let me know when they could get the part and come back to install it. I ended up calling the office because I didn't hear from anyone. The woman told me that they would have to order and she would get back to me about when it would be in. I had to call again to find out when it would be in. When the part came in, someone came and installed the new part. He was very thorough and double checked the AC and the heat several times to make sure everything was working correctly. The technicians are wonderful, the office is a little less responsive than I think they should be.
