Very responsive and alert to my detailed concerns. The lead wasn't Jim but rather Greg Stimpson for this project. Greg was on top of the project from day one and listened attentively to all the questions I had and tried his best to satisfy the concerns along the way. The project turned out great, and Greg went above and beyond to make sure it did.

Jim and his staff were very prompt, courteous, very flexible to accomodate my schedules and did a fantastic job overall. The price quote was the lowest among the 3 contractors we looked into. The best part we liked was that Jim suggested improvements that we would never have thought about. We give Jim and his staff 5 stars for their work and professionalism. We will surely use Jim's services in the future when we remodel our master bath. Thanks Jim. -Deepa & Vikram Krishnaswamy

We met with Jim and liked him immediately. He was punctual, professional, and easy to work with. He acted as the general contractor for the various trades. We gave him a budget and he worked with us to meet it. As an architect, I appreciated his virtual showroom, where you can select the exact plumbing and light fixtures that will go in to your renovation. We purchased tiles from a distributor that he recommended. We also selected counter top materials on our own that he was able to match through his own fabricator. He has a wonderful eye for detail, as well as the technical competence to get the job done. His sub contractors are some of the best we've worked with. They were always punctual and professional and cleaned up after themselves. They were also fast. We started work in November and completed all of the work in February. That includes the blizzards inbetween, as well as the week that Jim was down due to a bad fall. We will definitely be customers for life and plan to call on Jim again for any work that needs to be done in the future.

The whole project was smooth from start to finish. Jim is very easy to work and his price was competitive. He provided an itemized estimate so we were able to make adjustments that best suited our budget. Jim had some great cost-effective ideas to maximize floor and finished storage space. His crews came in and literally attacked the basement and work progressed at a steady pace the entire life of the project which is surprising because the county inspectors were throwing curve b**** from time-to-time. Extra ducting had to be run to satisfy the HVAC code and ALL smoke detectors had to be upgraded. I was expecting a delay of a few days and a pretty significant expense but no work time was lost and the extra cost was really just a few hundred dollars. All of the work is top notch. The bathroom especially is amazing considering we were on such a tight budget. The job took approximately 4 weeks from start to final inspection. Because the bath in the basement is so nice, we are now looking to have the two additional bathrooms remodeled. I won't bother soliciting bids, I'll just call Jim.

When we talked about doing the deck in the back, and I have an architect that I work with, somehow, it was kind of strange and I'm not quite sure how the whole architect thing came out, but my husband talked to the architect and I think the architect assumed that he was actually going to be doing the work and providing the drawing both to the contractor and to us to actually do the work, but we never talked to Jim Graves and said "yes, you're our contractor. We want to go with you and go ahead and get started on the plans for the deck." It was very strange, so he kind of jumped the gun on that one. We ended up having to pay the architect to do the plans when we didn't really want them. We really didn't need them at that point. There was some miss-communication. I guess Jim Graves had given the architect our name and phone number and said call them to set up a time to do the drawing for the deck. Somehow, he did that, but we still ended up having to pay for that even though we had not signed any contract with Jim Graves Construction and he didn't start any work at all. It was kind of an odd situation.

The service and work done by Jim, his employees, and subs was top notch from start to finish. Of the three contractors I received estimates prior to start of the job, Jim was the one who took the most time to understand my needs and bring his considerable expertise to bear on recommendations for a solution. I appreciated the fact that he was able to work within our budget and time constraints while still providing quality service and results. Even though it was a relatively small job, Jim was involved every step of the way and kept me informed of any issues that came up. He made sure to follow up on all the work that was done to ensure quality control. His people were very professional and did as much as possible to minimize dust and debris from the work; at the end of each day they did a thorough clean up. I would definitely recommend Jim Graves Construction and will consider his company for any future work.

They did a great job. The results were great and they handled several unique challenges of the job well (tiny space...walls needing more framing than expected, etc.) The staff were very friendly and professional and Jim (the owner) was very hands-on and made sure details were great. Also, Jim worked with us on our budget constraints which was very much appreciated.

I called Jim while he was on vacation. He answered all of my questions right away. I was so impressed with the phone call, that I set up a time to meet and go over the project. The first day he arrived, Jim called his plumber off of another job to come take a look at the bathroom. The plumber arrived within 15 minutes. He and Jim began to brainstorm different options for my bathroom. Within a couple of days, Jim sent me an e-mail with the different options, and pricing. He and his contractors completed the bathroom around my schedule. After the drywall was installed, I painted it myself. Jim did not like the way the drywall was sanded after I painted it, and sent someone to resand and paint for free. I HIGHLY recomend Jim Graves for any home project. His resume speaks for itself!

Customer service is Jim's game and he is a master. He listens carefully to what the customer wants, makes sensible suggestions, and pays very close attention to the details. He has a great eye for design. Jim was also very patient when we made changes mid-project or had trouble making a decision. He employs very skilled workers who are polite and professional and respectful. They came into our home, got the work done efficiently, and cleaned up according to Jim's standards. When you are working with a house as old as ours, surprises are bound to pop up. Thankfully our surprises were managed with minimal angst because Jim and his workers know what they are doing, can think out of the box and do their jobs well. The final cost was a little above estimate because of the changes we made. We feel we got more than our money's worth and we are already planning some more work for him. I have recommended Jim to several neighbors.

From the beginning, Jim was very easy to work with and was readily able to adapt our ideas to the project. His advice was always spot on and he stirred us in the right direction on choice of colors, types of materials and what truly needed to be included in the project. The results are fantastic. The shower in the master is awesome with two shower heads, sliding glass doors and gorgeous tile work. The guest bath is not as big but the classy cabinets and mirror are every bit the equal of the master and the tile enclosed bathtub with sliding glass is beautiful. The Patio is much better than expected and has really improved the back of the house. His crews were very professional and he demanded perfection from all. Keeping the site clean was also a big plus, with plastic installed on floors and rumble removed as soon as possible. The lag in meeting the proposed completion date was caused by suppliers not being able to meet our demands. It was a lot of work but we couldn't be more pleased with the showplace results. I highly recommend Jim and his company for all your remodeling plans.

We hired Graves Construction to upgrade an old basement bathroom. Overall, this was a very smooth process. Jim is friendly, flexible, responsive and easy to deal with. His contractors do a good job and clean up when they are done. The price for the job was competitive and the work was done exactly as stated in the contract. I have no problem recommending this company and will use them again in the future.

The project was finished on time and on budget. If that isn't enough, Jim and his team are, to a person, professional, thoughtful, and dedicated to making the client happy. When problems occurred, as they will on a job of this size, Jim was there to manage things and find creative solutions.

Mr. Graves was contacted to complete a low budget bathroom remodel. He was told to keep the price between $6-7K. Mr. Grave's proposal came in at the target price and included complete demolition through painting. The job was scheduled quickly and was completed in 7 days as promised. The crew arrived daily on time, were polite, and kept a very clean workspace. Tarp was laid from the front door to the bathroom to protect floors and there was little to no dust. The workmanship was excellent. Most of the fixture and finish choices were left to Mr. Graves to make and he has excellent taste. This was a low budget job with a very high end result. Mr. graves was so pleasaant to work with that we are trying to find more work for him to do just so we can keep him around.

Our bathrooms were the original ones from when our house was built in 1971. The master shower was unusable due to missing tiles in the wall, and the hall bathroom leaked every time the shower was used, which was several times a day, causing damage to the wall, floor, subfloor, and the living room and downstairs hall ceilings. Jim and his men came in and completely replaced both bathrooms with modern fixtures and attractive tile and paint. They worked on the bathrooms one at a time, starting and completing the master bath first so that we had a working bathroom at all times. They retiled the shower and floor with ceramic tile, installed an ADA approved comfort height elongated toilet, and new vanity and sink with granite counter top, and a grab bar on the wall for help in entering and exiting the shower stall. They painted the walls and trim and the door, inside and out. The finished bathroom is beautiful and very convenient. After completing the master bath, the men completely gutted the hall bathroom, removing the fixtures, rug, floor and subflooring and replacing them with a new tub, an ADA approved comfort height elongated toilet, and a vanity and sink with granite countertop. They also installed new valves, fans, lighting fixtures, mirrors, medicine cabinet, and a GFI outlet in each bathroom. In the hall bath they installed a new door and lever type door handles. They installed an access panel in the hallway outside the second bathroom for easy access to the tub valves, and repaired the ceilings in the living room and downstairs hallway which had been water damaged. They also repaired two other ceilings which were not connected to the bathroom work. The second bathroom is also a beauty to behold and very convenient. The whole project took about four weeks from start to finish - it would have been finished sooner but we had to be away for a few days during the four weeks so work had to be delayed. The workmen were all very polite and friendly and arrived on schedule every day and were very willing to answer any of our questions. Jim kept in close contact with the men and was very reachable by phone and email. Nicole was my contact person in the office and was very helpful, as was Jim, in choosing styles, etc. for the bathrooms. We are very happy with our bathrooms and would recommend Jim Graves and his men to anyone wishing to remode their bathrooms.

Jim came out immediately to give me an estimate. He spent a great deal of time listening to what I wanted, made creative suggestions, and made what is normally a stressful event a very pleasant experience. I picked out most of the fixtures which accounted for a great deal of the budget! Jim will, however, do all of that from start to finish if you choose. He and his employees even cut a whole through my master bedroom closet, so I could get the 375 pound cast iron soaking tub I wanted. As in any project there were glitches (with the hand cut tile and marble floor) but Jim addressed every issue, and made it a priority to make sure we were happy . The result a beautiful bathroom! PS` We live in a 1954 split level, not exactly a mansion, however Jim & his staff were very respectful of our furnishings, floors, etc., and cleaned up every day.

From the start Mr. Graves gave us confidence that we were in good hands. He understood what we wanted to do, and seemed sure he could provide what we needed. Where we were unsure, he had good suggestions. He provided us with scale drawings and 3D views to help us visualize our plan. He gave us several places to go to look at tile, cabinets, granite, etc., and also put us in touch with a designer at one of the showrooms who was invaluable in helping us put everything together. The work went pretty much according to schedule, in spite of the workers running into various problems such as uneven walls and windows, and problems with the existing ductwork and wiring. Mr. Graves took it all in stride. He was very involved in the early stages of work keeping a close eye on his workers. In the middle phases of the project we saw less of him and his workers asked us about many details which we weren't sure about. At one point the plumber arrived to install the toilet and fixtures, but was unable to because the tile installer hadn't finished the grout, and this did cause a delay. The only other complaint we have is that the workers were less consistent about cleaning up after themselves near the end of the job. In the completion phases Mr. Graves was very focused on the finishing details and everything came out very well. He was very attentive to any problems we saw, noticed small details that we didn't, and was very willing to make adjustments as needed. Our bathroom, which started out cramped, and outdated, with a tiny, dark shower and toilet space, is now open, airy, and beautiful! We are very happy with Mr. Graves, and with our new bathroom, and would not hesitate to use him again.

It went very well, except for the flooring. The subcontractor experienced several delays in delivery and placement, the cost was higher than the estimate. Considering that this was only a partial renovation (sink, cabinetry, and lighting remained) the price was a little high, but probably because of the experimental nature of the work. Jim Graves was great to work with. He provided good advice and minimized disruption. He did the demolition, placement of toilet and most of the tile work on a weekend since that was the only bathroom in the condo.

Jim is a true professional. He knows his stuff and the people who are employed under him are great at what they do. I appreciated the fact that he provided an honest estimate of what will be required to get the job done right the first time. He explained each step as well as answered any questions that I had. The project went as planned from start to finish and the basement where all the water damaged had occurred is better then the original!

Our experience with Jim Graves was great. He worked with us to get the price where we wanted. For example, we did the painting to save some money. He also worked with a granite company we chose and made sure that all the work they did was up to his very high standards. His people were always there when they said they'd be there, they were respectful of us and our belongings and they did high quality work. They were clean and made sure that dust and dirt from the construction were minimized. When faced with a problem (like uneven walls or floors) they came up with solutions that met our needs well. They also worked fast. We couldn't be happier with both the results and our overall experience with Jim Graves and his crews.

Everything went beautiful. Jim planned for worse-case scenario since we had no way of knowing what the floor joist problem was going to entail. As luck would have it, the floor joists were an easier fix than anticipated, so materials and labor came in under the estimate. Jim tracks his projects carefully and keeps in contact, so you always know what to expect. Everyone who worked on our living room was hard-working, exceptionally professional and very helpful. The tear-out began on Monday morning and by Friday afternoon, my husband and I had a new-looking living room! Because everything went so well, we immediately asked if he would handle a bathroom remodel for us.
