My experience was fantastic. Everyone from the team was professional and prompt. Throughout the process they explain exactly what they were doing and kept me in the loop if they found additional issues. They are extremely responsive and are very polite.

Work was completed satisfactorily, with follow up visits to fix minor issues promptly.

Exceptional customer service from our first email and phone contact. A wind storm had caused siding damage on our house. Mike responded quickly. The repair was done to a level beyond my expectation. I would definitely recommend the Shanco Companies for any future repair or remodeling project.

After initial roof install, roof continued to leak around chimney which was the main reason I replaced the roof. Project manager contended that since he was onsite during chimney flashing install, he knew that chimney flashing was done correctly and problem was bricks and mortar of chimney. Had I known that he should have performed a leak test before making this assertion, I could have saved the $650 the chimney company was more than willing to take for alleged necessary chimney repairs. After the chimney crown was reconstructed and small areas of the mortar ground out and tuckpointed, the chimney continued to leak onto my new cellulose attic insulation. Then Shanco sent two men to do a leak test around the chimney and do the necessary reflashing of one chimney corner. But water continued to leak onto my cellulose insulation so they sent a service manager to recaulk the nails surrounding the chimney. The leaking seemed to have stopped with light rain and the owner appeared to be genuinely interested in making sure that the job was done right. I thought the job was finally done on 3/26/2012 and that I wouldn't need to check the chimney and attic for leaks after every rain. However, when I happened to go into the attic on 12/26/2012 during a heavy rain, I noticed that rain was leaking down the back wall of the chimney onto my attic insulation in the same area as before the service manager caulked the nails surrounding the chimney in March. Again, the owner sounds genuinely interested in solving the problem. The service team is due to perform another leak test next week.

Shanco was good about scheduling an appointment. Mike came to my house for the estimate. He was friendly and provided good information. He said that he would write up an estimate and email it. After waiting more than 2 weeks for the estimate, I emailed Shanco and received no reply. I didn't bother to contact Shanco again. If a contractor isn't responsive during the estimate phase, I'm skeptical about them being responsive during the services phase.

Michael was on-time and very informative. He photographed the areas in question and spoke with us in great detail outlining our repair options. At no time did we feel pressured, and, in fact, the contractor recommended a more conservative repair regime than expected. The work was performed at the appointed time, and was completed quickly. All materials were removed from the premises at the conclusion of the task.

I would recommend Shanco for installing siding and will consider them myself for other home improvement jobs. The agreement they made was clear and they fullfilled their end of the bargain completely and professionally. In doing their job, they found an issue with roofing and provided an estimate to correct the problem. The estimate was very reasonable, and the work completed was well done. They were very responsive to my questions and made a few changes to planned work based on our discussions. Since these changes, except for the roof issue mentioned earlier, did not involve material or additional time, they were done within estimated cost.

Work was not performed. This was a one time event during big storm event. Brad suggested what to do but a work was not required at this time.

They arrived on time, and dilgently worked on the job. I believe the approximate time they left was around 4:00 pm.

The project estimator was professional, punctual and thorough in evaluating the job. He willingly spoke with our insurance company before beginning and after completing the project to assure that our claim was maximized. The installation crew was efficient, diligent and cleaned up each day. The project manager and roofing team leader had great communication skills and checked regularly with us to make sure we were satisfied. We are very pleased with this company and plan on using them for more projects.

May 2013 Update: Great! The paint matches the trim color. They caulked all the seams. Looks good as new. When complete, the guys cleaned up all the debris including sweeping off the top of the shed. Aside from the initial hiccup in receiving the quote we're satisfied customers. Updated ratings to reflect the entire experience with Shanco. December 2012 Update: After posting this review we were contacted within several days. We were offered an apology and were provided the quote. Because of this we've changed the responsiveness grade from F to C, overall experience from C to B, and added a price grade since we received the quote. As the work involves some exterior painting we won't be pursuing this work until spring. Should we go with Shanco for the repair work, we'll update the review again. Original review: We called Shanco to get a quote on having fascia boards/rakes replaced. The estimator arrived several hours before the appointment time, he called that morning to say he'd be early but we didn't receive the message in time to be available, so we were unable to meet in person to discuss the particular areas of concern . He left a note saying he'd been by. Fortunately we were able to follow up later in the day to get additional information about the materials that would be used. He was very helpful and explained all our questions over the phone. We came away from the phone call with a good impression. We were told a quote would be prepared but we never received one. We called again two more times over the course of several weeks and left messages but the calls were never returned. Based on all the reviews we expected better, and pursued doing business with Shanco more than we would have another company.

The work was performed to our satisfaction and the price was less than the competing offer. We are happy with the outcome.

It was great. The salesman visited the property in person to assess the situation, and we have been very happy with the professionalism and craftsmanship of the installers.

We got several estimates, and this company seemed the most knowledgeable. They were not the least expensive though. They did the work well. They did it quickly and efficiently, and it seems to be holding quite nicely.

They are the best and I would use them for anything.... They did a great job on the windows. They are a high class company. They preform fantastic work. You can trust there work.

Shanco is wonderful! We found a hole in our roof near the chimney that looked like a squirrel had been inhabiting. Shanco was one of 3 companies to survey our roof and provide us with an estimate. Brad, from Shanco, was the only person to say 1. we didn't need a complete new roof since everything except for the hole was in good shape and 2. we needed to get our chimney looked at since the crown was cracked and mortar was falling off. We had to get the chimney repaired before the roof could be fixed. Everyone we spoke to at Shanco has been extremely professional, polite and genuine! Since they offer services for home remodeling we would like to work with them on other projects in the future.

Mike Hilderbrand was very helpful and responsive as we worked out the gutter replacement and gutter guard proposal. I was especially grateful when he noticed some roof shingles needing repair and included it at no extra charge. The crew did an excellent job.

This was a great project from the get-go. The sales rep did not try to sell a complete re[placement. Explain that since it would be classified as a repair to the exsisting structure , no permits were required. Answered all my questions in simple terms and was never in a hurry. Brought the job foreman with him when it was time to sign so I would know who was going to be over seeing the work. On the day of work, the crew arrived on time and went about their task, quickly and efficiently. I was home (tho didn't need to be) and I hardly knew they were there. Upon completion, the foreman walked me through and answered all my questioned. when a mistake was noticed later, the company came back out quickly to correct it. The company will also be sending reminders/offers when it is time to seal the deck next fall. Something I would certainly overlook. I will definitely call Shanco first for my next remodel / upgrade project

Salesman very knowledgable. Communications with office could have been better as call was not returned and email not addressed. Both needed my followup. Work crew was very professional. Did a beautiful job on the house. Did an excellent job cleaning up. I would recommend without reservations.

Since my first review, I was contacted by the company apologizing for the missed communication and they expressed interest in coming out to diagnose the damage to my house. I took them up on their offer, and am very happy with the result. Mike, the project manager, took the time to diagnose exactly where the leak was coming from. I had three other companies out, all with different opinions, but none of them actually tried to recreate the leak to ensure their solution was correct. The culprit was a leaking window. We ended up having Shanco install four other windows on that side of our house, as they were all 20 years old and not in the best shape. The communication with Shanco was excellent. They kept me up to date every step of the way, from quote to measurement and install. The installers showed up on time. They cleaned up very well - even vacuuming and covering up furniture in the area. The installation looks very good. All in all, I'm very satisfied with this company, and am glad we were able to work together. I would recommend them to family and friends, and plan on using them again in the future.

We were very pleased. Even though they were backlogged due to the derecho, they came out and gave us a quote within a few days. Once we decided to go ahead, they let us know that they were pretty backed up, and gave us the option of waiting for them to do the work, or letting them use a subcontractor. We agreed to use the subcontractor so long as they took responsibility for the work, which of course they did. We scheduled the work for about a week out, but the next day, I got a phone call saying they had a job run short, could they come out and do it that day. They did a great job, for exactly the quoted price. They were easy to deal with via phone and email.

It went excellent. They were good on timing and detail. We had some minor things we wanted done and they came and changed it. They were wonderful to deal with.

Shanco was prompt in estimating work required. Mike Hilderbrand is always great to work with. He provided a very competitive bid to replace with a new system. He explained the process and requirements extremely well. Installation appointment and time frame was scheduled. Work crews showed up punctually and quickly performed the job. Their carpenters even repaired a broken wooden gate. I would definitely recommend their services.
