I like the servicemen. They work well they bring the exact items that is need for the work. They also check the thermostat without me asking them to. They are very prompt to answer the phone or the e-mail. They also keep appointments on time.

It went very well, see above. Very pleased with the service. Also, Pete, who arranged the job, was great to deal with as well.
Description of Work: Our upstairs furnace & airconditioner were replaced. Dale & Alex, the technicians who did the job, were friendly, professional, strove to keep the house clean, informative. They are tidy. We have a service agreement with them for our heat pump and air conditioning. They usually come out within the window they tell you. The technicians that come out are very good. They also have people working on weekends for emergencies.

They are excellent even though they are a little bit more expensive. They have very high quality services and I just like them. They clean everything and spend quite a bit of time for the check up. They are good.

The entire experience was great. We have used their team previously but this time was fantastic. Our heat pump went out immediately after moving into the house. We brought out 2 other vendors and neither one of them came close to the responsiveness, and professionalism that these guys did. They came out on Thursday night and were able to replace the system on Saturday. They were about $1k less than their competitors and they couldn't do the repair for another week. Can't say enough about these guys.

I have used Parker Pearce for decades because they are extremely responsive, come swiftly, are timely, very professional, and I am very comfortable working with them. When my heater or air conditioner stops working, they do not leave us in the cold in winter or in the heat of summer. However, they do have their flaws which is why I have rated them as a B in the past, and I would still give them an overall rating of a B (although it would be a B+). With this major job of replacing my furnace and air conditioner, it started with their coming for the routine work under their annual maintenance contract. They examined the equipment, noted it was 15 years old, and advised that if we did the needed work on the air conditioner they still could not provide that it wouid not leak by the end of the summer. They indicated that 15 years was about the end of the line for most air-conditioning/heating systems. After Parker Pearce made a good presentation on the replacement options, and their much higher energy efficiency compared to my old unit (as well as the increasing cost of refrigerant), I agreed to buy the top of the line model. They promptly scheduled the work for within a couple of days, and sent out a three person crew. By the end of the day, everything had been replaced, and they left. It looked like they had done a great job. However, that evening we tried to take a bath. There was no hot water in the house. In working on the equipment, they had disconnected the water heater and had not turned the heater back on. At 1030 in the evening I called them. Parker Pearce promptly sent out a repairman, and within an hour he had arrived, He turned on the water heater, and the next morning we could take a bath. The Parker Pearce crew had also advised me that the light bulbs in the ultra violet light unit needed to be replaced, and the next work day I had them send our a repairman for that purpose. The repairman advised me that the kind of unit I had was no longer being sold by them because of bad experiences concerning bulbs going out and ballasts needing replacement, and he recommended what he said what was a much better unit. Since replacement of the bulbs would have been $450, and the new unit with (unlike its predecessor) a lifetime guarantee on the ballast would cost me $900, I purchased the new unit. In removing the old ultra violet unit, the repairman had exposed the inside of the duct which he now showed me. Since it had significant dirt hanging on the walls, he strongly recommended that a duct cleaning job be performed. I said I had read that duct cleaning was unnecessary; he said that was because many companies did not do it right. That was the extent of his simplistic argument. I was not convinced, and declined the duct cleaning. Afterwards, I looked at the EPA Manual on duct cleaning, which indicates that determining whether duct cleaning is really necessary requires quite a sophisticated determination; the repairman's pitch was more just a pure sales pitch. Overall, I rate Parker Pearce as quite a good company, with great promptness, but they have a few flaws which keep them out of the top ranking. However, I am quite satisfied with their work over the years and will continue to use them. UPDATE: the work did not pass the Montgomery County inspection on the first try, so I have downgraded the quality to a C from my original review. Parker Pearce had advised that I needed a chimney company to bring the furnace exhaust flue in the chimney up to code, so I hired Winston's Chimney service to do that work after Parker Pearce did its work. Winston's crew came out promptly and installed a new chimney flue liner. The problem was that where tubing from the furnace (installed by Parker Pearce) joined with tubing from the chimney installed by Winston?s, the joining did not meet code requirements. The inspector alerted Parker Pearce and they came out a few days later and quickly fixed the problem. While the inspector contacted Parker Pearce to fix the problem, to my mind Winston's was equally at fault since they did their work after Parker Pearce had done its original work, and the problem was the way the Winston's work and the Parker Pearce work joined together. With the County determining that on the first try the work did not meet code requirements, I feel I have no choice but to rate both companies as a C on quality, even though I will continue to use the services of both companies in the future.
Description of Work: Replaced airconditioning and heating units with new Lennox equipment. Replaced ultraviolet light system.

Work was completed on the arranged date; the system has worked well since. Installation staff were polite and professional. The work site was left in a clem condition. The company initially filed the request for a city inspection with the wrong authority, but remedied the problem when it was brought to their attention.
Description of Work: installed a new high efficiency gas furnace and electric AC unit, replacing an 18 year old furnace that had been installed by the same company.

We started way back with another man who had his own business when we firs tmoved here. He sold out to Parker Pearce. We've always had both air conditioner and furnace serviced every year. We've also had to have a new furnace and air conditioner, which we bought through Parker Pearce. We've been very pleased with everything that they've done. They come out and look it over and if you need any repairs, they will tell you what the problem is and how much it will cost. Then you make up your mind whether you want to do it or not. Their prices are comparable to everybody else. They're very reasonable. The cost is pretty much the same each year. The bill that I just got for the next two checks on the furnace and air conditioner is about $192.

Based on an earlier visit a few years ago, I signed up for an annual contract. I've been very happy. The contract does not make it easy to schedule a routine inspection on short notice, but responsiveness to problems has been terrific.

There was a parts availablilty issue, which threatened to derail the installation, but they drove 50 mi away to find a unit and assigned an extra team to get the stuff in in one day. There were some quality issues on the installation including air and refrigerant leaks, which they addressed promptly and politely over a few follow-up visits. While I can imagine somewhat better technical service, I am going to stick with these guys.
Description of Work: We've used these guys for 20 years on two houses and two equipment installations and, while I haven't always been completely happy, they are extremely reliable, pleasant and generally quite good at their job. It is clearly a service-oriented company, which reacts very fast and stresses the consumer experience. Latest job was installation of new inside and outside cooling units and a gas HWH in our new old house.

We contracted with them to install two Nests in place of existing thermostats. The gentleman installed them well enough, but we have what we think is an extra thermostat in our family room but we were not sure. He seemed unable or perhaps unwilling to help us understand what it was and whether we needed a third Nest. I called the manager to get someone to help us with this and he never returned my call. We won't ever use them again.

Service Experts came out to give me an estimate on repairing my house heating system boiler, which had stopped working. They came back with and estimate for a full replacement of the boiler system of between $9,000 and $12,000. I received two more estimates. One was in the same range as Service Experts. But the guy from Vernon Heating and Air said, "Your system is fine but your gas regulator is shot." He jury-rigged it so that it would work for a couple of days while we waited for the part to come in and ended up getting it done for about $1,500.
Description of Work: Service Experts came out to give me an estimate on repairing my house heating system boiler, which had stopped working. They came back with and estimate for a full replacement of the boiler system of between $9,000 and $12,000.

0Twice in the past few years I have scheduled an annual maintenance visit and they did not show up. The first time they gave me a two hour window. I left work and I was home for that window but they did not show. When I called, the person I spoke with told me that they showed up earlier than the specified time. As a result they moved on to the next person. When I protested, the rep said "You can't really expect us to be there precisely when we say we will". My feeling is a time window is not precise and if they will not honor the time window there is no sense in specifying one. Today I had a similar issue. I called to confirm an appointment that I had made over a month earlier and they said it had been canceled. I told them that I did not cancel it and that they had made a mistake. After 15 minutes on the phone, they told me that they had figured things out and that we were still on for the appointment. Again, I left work early but they did not show. When I called, the rep said the appointment had been canceled. I told them that I had spoken with them the same morning and that they had promised to come. The rep was unhelpful. Bottom line, if you are a single dad with a child in chemo and need a company you can rely on, this is definitely no the one to use.

Since the visit was routine, it took several weeks before they could come out. The serviceman who came was extremely polite and made a good impression. Part of the servicing was to make sure the humidifier was working. He checked out the humidifier and set it up properly. However, he failed to note that no water was running to the humidifier. Several weeks later after he left I noticed that the humidifier did not seem to create any humidity, and I called Service Experts to obtain a follow up visit. This time, within a day after I called, a new serviceman came. In a few minutes he sized up the problem, which was that the water valve connecting the humidifier to the water heater was too small and probably clogged up. Since Service Experts do not do plumbing, he advised me to get a plumber, which I did. Service Experts imposed no charge. (As noted above, I have an annual contract with them.) The plumber came and quickly replaced the valve with a larger one, which solved the problem, and water is now flowing to the humidifier. As I recall the plumber's charge was about $200. In short, Service Experts performed in a satisfactory manner but since they did not pick up an important problem they did not perform in an exceptional manner. I have had Service Experts for many years. My long term impression is that while they may not be the best company in town, they are quite acceptable. They are quite pleasant to deal with, and quickly responsive when there is a need for prompt action. In short, I feel they provide me with satisfactory service and see no reason to change.
Description of Work: I have an annual service contract with Parker Pearce. As in past years, this fall they came out to my house to do their annual fall check up on my furnace with humidifier.

It went extremely well. The service technician arrived on time the first day and a few hours early the second day, he fixed the A/C and had it running quickly. He then provided information on how to make sure it did not happen again. Very pleased, excellent service.
Description of Work: A/C died on a very very hot weekend day, Service Experts came out to the house within a few hours of my telephone call and diagnosed the problem. It required that a massive chunk of ice melt and he said he would be back the next day to get the system going after the ice had gone. He arrived early in the morning which was very welcome and he fixed the system and had it running in short order. He told us why the issue had occurred and told us how to make sure it does not happen again. A very good service indeed.

When I called to make arrangements to have the thermostat installed there was some confusion between NEST and Service Experts where my records were not transferred. I had to call a couple of times to get the install appt scheduled. After Service Experts received my information they were able to come out that day and complete the install. Total time was 20 minutes.
Description of Work: Service Experts Heating and Air conditioning is the local NEST thermostat installed. I purchased the "White Glove" install service from NEST and Service Experts was contacted to install my new thermostat.

Im very happy with my new contractor and paying much less. Its too bad, I had no problems with Service Experts in general, but the price increase after over 20 years as a customer was cause for me to look around.
Description of Work: I have had a service contract for many years and everything was always handled as agreed. This year they quoted me a significantly larger service contract price which prompted me to look elsewhere. I found a much lower price with another highly rated Angie's list contractor and they came and did a great job.
