Went very well. Getting a set date to install was slow, due to backlog as a result of Hurricane, but they always responded quickly to our calls. Work was absolutely done to standard and all inspections done without problem. Good company, family owned and mostly staffed. Referred to us by others who also liked them a lot.

When we lost power after the Derecho last year, I toyed with the idea of getting a backup generator.  We don't lose power that often, but we have a sump pump and when it rains, the pump goes off all the time. I decided to wait, but 2 more big storms and power outages later, I decided it was time.  I got a number of quotes from both independent electricians and large and small companies and in the end chose JBI Services.  I wanted a company with a lot of experience installing and servicing generators. They have great reviews on both Generac's site and Angie's List and their price was very competitive (not the cheapest and not the most expensive), What really made me pick them, however, was their willingness to come out multiple times and work with me to find the best placement for the equipment. Everyone else just wanted to put it in the easiest place.  JBI even built a nice tiered base so the generator could sit on a sloping hill.
I gave them a B for responsiveness solely because before the install, it sometimes took a little extra time to get a return phone call or email, but nothing outrageous, so more like a B+/A-) . Installation went great and post install, they've been very responsive. Maybe it's because they're family owned, but they just seemed willing to go the extra mile for the customer. They even handled all the paperwork with the gas company! I highly recommend them.

We have not had the job done as of yet, but probably would not select this contractor since his price appeared to us to be a bit on the high side.

Work was done expeditiously, neatly and cleanly.  Price was considerably lower than other estimates.  This is the second time we have used JBL (the first was for a standby generator for which we have already provided a rating) and we plan to use them again.

Initially, very well, but later would not facilitate warranty and would not honor service calls.

JBI assisted us with sizing and siting the unit.  There bid was comparable to one other and much lower than a third.  However, they engendered a high level of trust.
The work was done when scheduled and as bid.  The crew was friendly, worked quickly and we were kept informed.  When the work was done we had to arrange for 2 inspections before the unit could be activated.  Also, JBI arranged for an inspection of the trench used to bury the power and gas lines before they could fill in the trench.  Once the trench was filled in they seeded the area. 
We had a brief power outage on 6/14 and the system worked as specified; it provided power automatically 30 seconds after the commercial power supply was interrupted.

I selected JBI based on price and level of expertise (they have both gas fitters and electricians on staff whereas other companies that install generators were just electricians who "contract out" the gas fitting portion of installation.)  Dan, the Sales Director, was very knowledgeable and explained, among other things, that JBI installs an upgraded battery, usually the first item to fail.  They also service the generator every six months, whereas others only service this model yearly.  Generators were on backorder due to Hurricane Sandy, but this was not a problem for me.  I signed the contract at the end of January and the generator was installed at the end of April.  The installation was seamless except one of the electricians accidentally fell into my china cabinet and some crystal and other items were broken.  They were working in a very tight area, so I was not unduely upset until I ran into problems getting compensated; this took a month and weekly phone calls.  I finally reached out to Dan, and had a check in my hand the next day!  I feel it is necessary to mention the difficulty in responsiveness as a courtesty to other Angie's list readers.  That said, the workers were all very nice and cleaned up both inside and outside of the house.  The installation looks very neat, and so far the weekly "test" is running smoothly.  I rarely even hear the generator (windows are closed along the side of the house where the generator is located) when it goes through the weekly test cycle.  Now, I am just waiting for the next hurricane!  Overall, I rate this a positive experience.

We were very impressed. The company did a great job with installation - the work was done neatly and efficiently, and at a competitive price.  The company was very responsive to all our questions moving forward from the estimate to the signing of the contract, although there were sometimes signficant delays in communication which we attribute to their work load and we sometimes needed to prompt follow-up. All of the specifications and details were laid out thoroughly and clearly in the contract and other materials they provided. Our one complaint was a lack of communication about the installation schedule and the need for someone to be at home to provide indoor access - as a result we had to arrange to be away from work for two days instead of just one.

Our experience with JBI has been refreshing!  Ian was very responsive in preparing the initial estimates and surprised me with an early delivery of the 17KW unit. His crew was efficient, polite and professional at all times.
Both my wife and I are pleased with the unit, even though so far it has only been tested upon installation, and the self tests it performs. Now we will not dread the power outages that have affected our area over the past several years, and looking at projected weather estimates of the possibility of severe storms still is bothersome, but not in the same way as in the past.  We will have no problem recommending JBI to anyone who is interested in finding a fair and competent dealer.
We are also having JBI install a replacement air conditioning system in the next month and trust that it will go as well as the installation of the generator.

JBI performed all services in an exceptional manner. This includes everything from the first visit to get the estimates, securing all county permits, putting in the concrete pad, the transfer switch, the gas and electrical connections and the clean up of both the outside and interior work areas. JBI even placed fresh mulch around the outside work area. The only delay was due to the backlog of orders for generac generators but once JBI received the 27kw generator it only took a few days for the installation. Their workers were very personable and did a very professional job. If you want a generac generator, have JBI do the complete installation.

We are very pleased with how this project went. I checked out several contractors and we selected JBI because we appreciated the straight forward manner Ian had with estimating the job. We wanted the job done by one company that could take care of everything, and they did! They set a date, came on time, and stayed with the job all day into the evening to complete it. They also cleaned up the work area after the inspections.

Everything was as expected.
