I love House with a Heart!  The owner, Sher, is an amazing animal advocate.  She takes care of each visiting pup as if they were her own.  All the dogs sleep in her home, some in private rooms, some in groups, depending on the dog's and owner's needs. There are plenty of outdoor places to play and plenty of indoor places to relax.  You will not find a more loving, accepting, caring place to board your dog.

It's the best. She has a big nice place where they can be together. They're not in a cage, it's more like a wooden barn dorm. They get to go out in this big yard where they are treated really nicely. It's the least expensive place in this area. Sometimes you think you need to pay more to have her play with your dogs but she doesn't. You should go visit before you decide to use it.

I will never bring my pets anywhere else, this is like home away from home. Great setting, limited number of dogs and individualized care. Love the facility and the owner!

House With A Heart (should be called Sher With a HUGE Heart - she is the owner) is more than a boarding facility, it's also a pet sanctuary that provides a permanent home for senior, handicapped, and otherwise unadoptable dogs. In addition, if they have all the animals they can handle, they have a list serve where they send out information to see if people can help out with an adoption of their own.
As for the boarding facility, Sher has a limited number of boarding spaces in her home with much larger rooms/kennels than one typically finds in standard boarding facilities. Her love and kindness to the boarders is so evident, and while leaving our dogs is always difficult for us, we never, ever worry about their well-being. There are always volunteers on hand, and the dogs have outdoor play time throughout the day. While the cost may be a tiny bit higher than other places (not even sure about that), a portion of the boarding fees is tax deductible, as the proceeds go to support her amazing rescue work.
The only difficult part I have leaving this review is that HWAH will become so popular, we may find it more difficult to make a reservation ;-). However, the work Sher does and the kindness she exhibits FAR outweighs my little concern! I can't say enough wonderful things about Sher and House With A Heart, but you won't ever be sorry using this facility.

We left our 4 dogs at House with a Heart and they came home happy and received all their medication while we were gone. They were able to stay in the same pen while they were there. I love the idea that the boarding supports the sancuary and that all the dogs seem very loved and cared for. Being able to deduct soem of the boarding fee means more money in my pocket. I am supprised because the boarding fees are so reasonable. We will use them again next time we go out of town.

It is a private shelter for senior pets. My daughter volunteers there. She started going there as a part of college project but she stayed on after the project was over. The lady will foster the animals out but she will cover all their medical bills as long as she could get them into a good home. She won't adopt them out because she wants to make sure that she could keep an eye on them. I like the love and attention that the animals are given there. They are respected till the end of their life. This is an ideal place to leave a pet that is let without someone to care for them.
