GROOMERY

We were very pleased. We have long-hair cats that mat easily. Their coats were trimmed and dematted and were very soft after the grooming.

We've used them for years.

The waiting room was clean and tidy. They are friendly and would recommend them to a friend.

Our dislike is location, but the like is the quality. Dislike is the price, but the quality is good.

They always do a good job for a decent price. We always pay cash. They're very friendly and very professional. We've been happy with the quality of their work. We would recommend them. They always have her ready when they say they will and we usually do it by appointments. We drop her off in the morning and she's ready for us by the end of the afternoon, which is all we ask.

The overall grooming job was pretty well done, and my dog seemed to be fine with the experience, even after what happened.  The groomer came out and met us and spend a good bit of time bonding with my dog at first, and discussing what I wanted done for the grooming, so I think that part went very well.  I liked that my dog would not be caged at any point, which is always high anxiety for her.  The scheduling experience was fine, and I liked that I could have a two-hour window appointment -- and I thought the price was  reasonable.  The reception area didn't seem very clean (a lot of hair) and smelled slightly, but I've seen worse.  The person at the reception desk wasn't particularly friendly, but I can live with that.
However, what I can't live with is that the groomer cut one of my dog's ears during the grooming, perhaps clipping an artery there according to my veterinarian, and my dog was still bleeding when I picked her up.  The groomer told me immediately upon arrival what had happened and was very apologetic, and then she also called me the next day to see how my dog was doing.  My dog is fine and doesn't seem traumatized at all, and I know accidents can happen -- but I don't know how I can take her back there again after what happened.  So I'm once again on the hunt for a good groomer in my area.

Roy is excellent - simply amazing! They do an excellent job and are reasonably priced. He's very good with our challenging dog.

It went well. I've been going to them for about 3 years now after SEVERAL horrible and unsatisfactory grooming experiences at other establishments. The Groomery has taken care of my fur baby with reliability and great results every time. They pay attention to detail and follow my specific requests. I also like that they try to get my dog ready by my time preferences. They do sometimes take all day when they have a busy schedule but that's my only negative thing to say. The receptionists are always friendly and helpful. I will be going back.

I had been using The Groomery for about a year and was always pleased with my dog's haircut. He is not a common dog so finding a groomer that knows his cut is difficult. The groomers always did a great job, but my dog always seemed very stressed and unhappy when I picked him up.

At first I did not think much of it. My dog developed skin and ear infections that required medical care after nearly every visit. It took me a while to make the connection because I thought he picked something up in rock creek park on the weekends, but we didn't go to the park for three months because he was injured. I took him in twice during that three month time and he developed the skin and ear infections again. He also had a sore on his hind leg when I picked him up, which was from the clippers getting hot and burning his skin.

The final straw happened last December when I took him to be groomed and when I picked him up they had him sequestered away in some room because he was barking. When they let him out he went to the water dish in the waiting room and drank the entire bowl of water, which tells me he was in that room without water! Also, a few days after his grooming he started scratching his belly where he'd develop the skin infection, so I bathed him with the shampoo from the vet. When I took him to the bathroom to get into the tub (something I've never had trouble with) he balled up on the floor In a manner that suggests he was strong armed--he cowered! He NEVER displayed that kind of behavior before. He absolutely hated the bath! It broke my heart seeing him react so scared and frightened. I was p***** seeing my 70 pound dog react so timidly when he'd normally jump in the tub with an and quot;inand quot; command.

So, with that, I will NEVER take my dog to the Groomery again.

Also, the staff is unprofessional, unwelcoming and downright rude! They don't even seem to like dogs and they have this weird attitude that seems like they are all about making money.

If they showed the least bit of interest in the animals as creatures and not as dollar signs I'd give them a better rating.

I'd rather my dog have a and quot;badand quot; cut than be unhappy.

I took my 80-pound schnoodle, who I have always scissor-clipped myself because I didn't like that shaved look to the Groomery because I was having hip problems and unable to keep up with his grooming. I asked them to clip him, using the longest possible blade and comb out the mats he was developing in his ears and tail. The people in the reception area were very helpful and friendly.
When I picked up my dog he looked gorgeous! They did a wonderful job and he looked very happy and proud of his look. He didn't look shaved at all, but had a very detailed clip and cut look. His cut has lasted for 4 months and I just scheduled an appointment for him at the Groomery for next week.

Excellent work, just as we wanted

My 2 dogs are 13 and 14 years old. The older one is extremely timid and frightens easily. I discussed my concerns and was assured that they deal with this regularly and it wouldn't be a problem. I chose the Groomery because it got such good ratings and comments on Angie's List. When I called to make the appointment the person I spoke to made it seem like they would have nice accomodations with beds and lots of attention. The place wasn't clean, there was urine on the floor and the smell was bad. We had never used a kennel before so maybe that is normal. The dogs were both sick for 5 days after we got them home with vomiting and diarrhea. We ended paying for a vet visit and medication. One dog also came home with the wrong collar (hers had her name, rabies tag and license on it). It took 2 days for them to figure out they'd sent her collar home with the wrong dog and we had to go back and get it.

Excellent place to leave your dog while you are on vacation. We love leaving our dog there because he gets to spend time outside with other dogs. He isn't stuck in a cage for hours on end like he was at other places. Also, the cost is EXCELLENT! Highly recommend!

It was easy to make an appoinment, the price was cheap compared to what we were spending in Bethesda, and they did a great job. I was most impressed when they asked for a picture of the haircut we wanted for our cat.

They were able to give me an appointment with no problem. The groomry is in a house with resident animals roaming about. All very well behaved. They had a tree in the parlor and it was very comfortable. The dogs came out looking beautiful, not traumatized at all and a festive scarf around their necks.
Granted this was years ago but it's worth checking them out to see if they still have the same great quality work.

I was nervous dropping the dogs off at first but the staff was friendly and the other dogs coming and going seemed happy. They were groomed very well and I was called promptly when they were ready for pickup. The cost was also very reasonable.

Excellent place to take your dog for grooming!

the dog, a large puppy, is happy to go there and gets enough exercise so that at the end of the day she's content and tired. it is obvious the staff enjoys being around the dogs. they are nice combination of professional and easy going/casual. i am continuing to use their services and am very pleased (more important is that the puppy is happy to be there).

They do very well with the groming and they are very good with my dogs.

Dropping the dogs off is easy and the people at the front desk are generally very friendly. My little dog is very skittish around other animals and certain people but he always comes home happy. My labradoodle is about 70 pounds and we take her for daycare on a fairly regular basis and she LOVES it. She comes home so tired, it's wonderful! She has an abundance of energy so anything that can tire her out is amazing. I have never used the grooming here but I can give boarding and daycare an A+.

The Groomery is in a old house and the waiting room is clean with no animal odor and has a lot of personality including a resident kitty. There were other dogs there when I arrived so I had to wait a little bit, but not that long. While I was waiting, a groomer came out and talked to my dog and told the receptionist that she would like to groom her. We discussed what I wanted done. I wanted the dog trimmed but not shaved down. The groomer said the dog had matts and perhaps it would be better to shave her down and start over. We came to an agreement that she would try to dematt the dog as long as the dog would accept that. I agreed to let her do what the dog would accept. I also wouldn't want the dog to be stressed. She also told me that the cut I wanted was high maintenance and I needed to have the dog groomed every 6 weeks if I wanted to keep the dog's hair that length. I agreed to that. She told me all the charges involved including the hourly rate for dematting.
I was pleased with the results when I picked the dog up. Her hair was short but not shaved and she didn't seem stressed. She had a cute kerchief around her neck and smelled quite nice. I made an appointment for 6 weeks later.
