Fantastic. Doug came out and walked the property lines with me to be sure we both understood what was required. I had some trees that would need some trimming to accommodate the fencing and we looked at exactly what would be needed and he included that work in the project. He produced two options based on the type of fence I wanted and provided the estimate before he left. We discussed the details, agreed to proceed and Doug came back and marked the property lines for posts before he started. He and his he and his crew arrived promptly to get started and worked quickly, taking care to move anything in the way to safety. The fence was done, start to finish, in 24 hours. It looks fantastic and is even better than what I was hoping for. Doug's communication is excellent as is his attention to detail. (I wish there were Doug clones in other areas of contracting. The world needs more Dougs.)

I first called Doug last summer to get an estimate, and talked with some other fence companies too. Compared with the competition FBD prices were similar but Doug took much more time and care with the estimate, and asked a lot of questions to make sure that we got the fence that we wanted. We ended up waiting about 9 months from the initial estimate to scheduling the work. Doug visited us again to reconfirm, and offered to honor his original estimate. He called us regularly with updates and scheduling information so we always knew what was going on. Work was done a couple of weeks after we agreed to proceed- given all the rain this spring this was very fast. The whole process took 2 days. The new fence looks great!

When Doug of FBD (Fences by Doug) originally came to our house to give us an estimate he wanted to make sure we got other estimates and were fully aware of our choices for fencing before we made a decision. Doug highly recommended that we get a survey first before starting on the fence. (The other company that came by for an estimate told us that a survey was not necessary and that we only needed to agree with our neighbors regarding the exact property line.) The best thing we did was to get a survey. The original owners of our property planted Hemlock trees along what they thought was just the inside of the property line - we were told that they were "our trees" - so we originally wanted our fence to be built such that the trees were inside of the fenced area. After having a full property survey as Doug recommended, It turned out that the trees were on the property line on one side and were partially on the neighbors property on the other side. To make a long story short, we had to rethink the whole project. After long discussions, my spouse and I decided that we wanted to preserve the trees, and to build the fence on the inside of the tree line, essentially giving up at least a foot of property along the property line, but the benefit was having the trees functionally extend the height of the fence on the outside. Doug was surprised at our decision (the alternative was to cut the trees down and to get every inch of our property). Doug worked with us to trim the trees and build the fence as close to the trees as reasonably possible. The quality of Doug's work was truly outstanding and the fence was stunning on completion. The outcome is much better than we imagined. The driveway gate is sturdy and secure. The wood he used is high quality with boards that are thicker than those of most other fences we have seen. The 9-inch overlap and french gothic posts created an elegant fence that will last for many many years. Doug was onsite during the building of the fence and worked with his crew to finish the job in a reasonable time (on days that it was not raining). We highly recommend Doug/FBD.

Doug, the owner, was contacted by my wife. She made an appointment for an estimate. Doug showed up on time and gave us the lowest estimate of three. He was very thorough in his explanation of the work required. He explained many options on fencing, mentioning the good and bad for each style; a very professional meeting, but yet still informal. My wife and I never felt pressured at all. In fact, Doug strongly recommended we get additional estimates before making a decision. His was the first company we contacted. We agreed to have FDB Fence company do the work. They arrived on the date promised, completed all the work as promised. The fence is fantastic! The quality and workmanship is superb. We are 100% satisified with this company. My wife and I highly recommend FDB Fence Company.

Doug was punctual and professional. Definately low pressure, he gave us a written estimate, made several good suggestions, and waited for us to decide. Once we chose his services he scheduled delivery of materials and installation. Everything went as planned, he kept us well informed along the way, and installation was completed on schedule. I'd give A+ if I could.

I originally contacted Doug (FBD) in October 2009 for an fence estimate. He arrived promptly, measured the boundary using survey from settlement and met the neighbors. Doug provided a great deal beyond an estimate. He understands the Columbia HOA process and imparted invaluable information on that process. Several months later contacted him again after securing multiple estimates for the job. Doug does not use subcontractors, he gives the estimate and along with Tony actually constructs the fence. There were some weather related and manufacturing delays and he provided excellent follow-up throughout. In addition, he was able to assist in neighbor issues since he was there for the initial meeting and conversation. I am enthralled with my fence, it is amazing construction and beautifully laid out around the base of a hill even my disgruntled neighbors admit it's quality craftsmenship. Passerbys remark on it and request company information, which I happily provide. I highly recommend FBD fencing, you get much more than an exceptional fence, Doug is a true professional.

Excellent. Prompt, high quality. FBD did not waste time. Doug can be a little bit "alpha", and never stops selling, even when he should, but his product and delivery is excellent.

Doug was thorough and easy to reach and so friendly from our first meeting. He walked me through the process very patiently, including our homeowner's association process. The estimate he gave us was by far the most detailed and thoughtful. Long Fence was barely at our home 15 minutes. Doug brought pictures and did not seem rushed. He clearly likes building these fences and stands by the quality of his work.

They (The owner and two other workmen) arrived on time and completed the job in 7 hours, with no breaks. The owner works right along with the crew. They were very knowledgable and professional in what they did, and were also pleasant to deal with. When Doug the owner came to give us an estimate he told us what he would do and he did exactly that on the day of installation. He is a fence specialist and knows so many details about the art of putting up a fence well - that's what impressed us the most. But he also is a pleasant person and seems honest in his dealings with customers. They did some extra work for us (at no charge) that other bidders would not consider, such as trimming overhanging tree branches and hauling them away, as well as digging several post holes for an interior garden fence that we will put up ourselves. It's also important to say that the crew took pride in their work. The fence they put up looks great and feels very sturdy.

Doug was extremely responsive and came out to do an estimate. We talked through my various needs (privacy, value) and decided on the dogeared board-on-board style. He gave me great tips on dealing with the community association to get the new style approved. Once approved, I called him and the work was scheduled for 4 days later: Demo. to begin on a Thursday and the fence would be completed by Saturday. Doug appeared personal and worked with his crew and finished the fence on Friday!!?! He also cut back branches of trees that interfered, and even removed a whole tree (12' tall) that was a problem. His crew was extremely fastidious, and my flowers and shrubs emerged unscathed.

Doug is a great guy, completely upfront and honest, easy to talk to. Doug was understanding about needing to meet condo association requirements and was understanding about dealing with touchy neighbors. The crew that he sent to do the work was great, friendly, did a great job - quick and the cleanup was immaculate. I am so in love with my new fence. Other companies wouldn't even give me a quote because the job was too small and customized due to the the association rules.

WE HIRED FBD FOR THE SECOND TIME. WE WERE DELIGHTED WITH THE FENCE THEY PUT INTO OUR PREVIOUS HOUSE, AGAIN COMPLETELY FENCING OFF THE BACK YARD AND USING SEVERAL GATES. THIS FENCE WAS ATTRACTIVELY DONE IN EVERY WAY, STRONG, DIDN'T WARP OR NEED ANY MAINTENANCE AND LOOKED EVEN BETTER AS IT WEATHERED. WE HAD NO PROBLEM WITH FENCE OR GATES IN THE 6 YEARS WE LIVED THERE. WE HAD MANY ADMIRING COMMENTS FROM FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS. HAVING HAD SUCH A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE THE FIRST TIME, WHEN WE MOVED HOUSE RECENTLY, WE AGAIN GOT THREE ESTIMATES AND HIRED FBD. AGAIN, DOUG WAS A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH, HE AND HIS TEAM SHOW UP PROMPTLY AND THEY ARE EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL. MY (ENGINEER) HUSBAND IS VERY, VERY PICKY ABOUT LINES AND ANGLES, AND FBD ACCOMMODATED ALL HIS WISHES. FBD WORKED FAST AND CAREFULLY. THEY EVEN MOVED MY MAILBOX FOR ME AS A FAVOR.
