Could not have gone better. Excellent, faultless installation and cleanup. Jim Lessig is a pleasure to work with. The work crew was very professional. This Company is determined to be the very best at very reasonable rates. I have highly recommended Certified to a number of people and will continue to do so. I have several properties and will use them everytime I need roof work. Before I knew about Certified I used 2 other companies. They were higher priced, not nearly as customer oriented even though they came highly recommended.

I did not request an estimate because of my past experiences with this company and also because I was on vacation and needed it taken care of immediately before additional damage was caused. Certified accessed the roof with a very long ladder, patched some nail holes and did not send a bill. Upon inquiring what I owed I was told there would be no charge since ( even though they got up on the ladder and did patching) they "didn't do anything "they felt merited an invoice. Obviously i am most grateful. Based on my experiences with Certified, they are highly professional, customer oriented and do excellent work at very reasonable (and in this last case --free) prices

Certified's crew showed up on time, on the appointed date. They immediately went to work & completed the job, including a thorough clean-up, the same day. There were no heavy-handed sales pitches. The company was very responsive & easy to deal with. Highly recommend. I would certainly use them again.

They did a great job. The roof looks great. Even though they magnetized the yard, I still am finding nails. This is probably to be expected. All the old materials were removed and in my opinion they did a great job. I also had an attic fan replaced. I would recommend them without hesitation. Thanks

They gave us all their insurance information upfront. They did what they said they were going to do and they did a great job. They gave me the shingles that I wanted and the roof looks good.

Initial estimate visit was done professionally. Arrived on time. Provided a printed estimate with line items and prices. Other companies gave written estimates that did not detail the work/materials. The estimate was competitive. One company estimated over $3K more for the same work. Another was only $30 more but Certified Inc. did a better presentation and the materials were rated higher in my research. Certainteed provided an impressive package of materials with liability insurance information, Angies List awards, a Certainteed master installer letter, and many letters from satisfied customers (too many, some were old, just show recent ones and save a tree). Work was scheduled within days of receipt of my signed contract. The crew arrived when expected. Protected my landscaping. Roof done in one day. Gutters and porch capping done on following day. Did good work and cleaned up well. Only complaint are the number of cigarette butts left in my yard. All in all, a great experience. I would recommend them and wold use them again.

Great service in nearly every way! I liked the fact that they did not pressure us to make a decision or sign a contract. When they visited our home for estimating purposes, the gentleman was very professional and knowledgeable. He handed us an estimate and actually encouraged us to get additional bids from other contractors. The process was quite professional. In contrast, a second Roofing Contractor pressured us to sign a contract on the spot and give him a deposit. If we gave him a deposit that day, he could extend us a discount and start the work in a few days. In actuality, his estimate was 10% higher than Certified's and was delivered with high pressure sales tactics that are never enjoyable. I was very happy with Certified Inc. While the price was slightly high, it was in line with other estimates I recieved. On the initial estimate appointment, Tom arrived on time and was friendly. His estimate included all the extra items I requested be included (other companies had a hard time remembering to include those items). The roof install was as scheduled. The materials delivered to my yard the day before - so I was able to verify what was being installed. The crew was efficient - the whole thing completed in one day. I believe my main complaint has been mentioned by other reviewers. Tom, the salesman, called me early Saturday morning to say I would owe extra money for replacement of rotted wood. I was on site during most of the installation, yet the crew never showed me any rotted wood or replacement wood. I have yet to pay the change order amount - I need to access my attic and visually see what wood replacement material is actually installed. If that matches his amount, I will happily pay (pricing for replacement wood, if needed, was specified in the contract). But, holding a few rotted boards for the homeowner's inspection would go a long way toward having customers feel comfortable about having to pay extra money. Another small beef: I wasn't home for the gutter install the following day, and the crew placed one downspout in a weird spot. Tom said they could come out and change it - but arranging to lock my dogs in for the day is a bit difficult. It would have been nice if he had verified the location earlier, or called me on the day of install to check. All together Certified was a very professional outfit that was easy to work with.

They did a great job, were punctual, finished on time, and cost less than other companies.

Responsive, professional, accurate from start to finish.

There were a few twists & turns along the way, but final result is excellent. The job involved opening up an access hatch that had been roofed over in the past. Certified constructed a new hatch frame and cover, but their first attempt did not work out so well. They didn't build the frame high enough, and a cricket was not installed to divert water around the hatch. As a result, when we got a heavy rain, a lot of water came in through the hatch, possibly because the water level on the roof rose higher than the frame around the hatch. This was a big surprise because it came a few days after they finished the roof. No real damage was done, since I'm rehabbing the house and haven't done any work on the floors or walls yet. Certified sent someone out the next day to have a look. At that time they installed something temporary to divert rain until they could fix it permanently. It took about a week, I think, for them to come back and rebuild the hatch. I think weather was an issue. When they did rebuild it, they did an excellent job. They made the frame higher and added a cricket. I don't think there is any chance at all rain will get in again. Overall, the quality of the work appears to be excellent. The flashing all appears to have been done well. The price was 25% higher than the low bidder, and 5% lower than the highest bidder, but the system is superior to any that was proposed by either of the other bidders. Certified's proposal was also far more detailed, with respect to materials, than the other proposals. Certified did not charge me for the rafter they replaced, even though the proposal called for a small charge for lumber. The reflective roof is very bright and seems to be effective. I have a temperature sensor in my small attic space, which is an unconditioned space, and I don't think it has hit triple digits in the attic space even when it was upper 90s outside for a few days in a row. Much of the time it's actually a few degrees cooler in the attic than the outdoor temperature, even though my ventilation is not great.

I live overseas, Tom was patient and responsible in doing a roof replacement for my storm damaged roof and trim replacement on rotted bay window on my rented house. Price was slightly under insurance estimate on roof, though I haven't seen the roof in person the renter reports no issues and it looks great. Tom was cordial and quick/flexible, and provided a good cost/benefit analysis on upgrade when I inquired about architectural shingle upgrade. Would trust him implicitly again on related work.

The sales person was vry professional and spent time with my husband walkig around our neighborhood to show him how different types of shingle would look in place on the roof. Once we signed the contract, an install date was set for in less than a week. They finished within the time frame, let everything clean and free of nails and trash. We are thinking of havig them reside our house in the future. We have receommended them to frineds and colleagues.

Hiring: It took a long time to actually decide which type of roof I wanted and who I wanted to install it. In the end I chose to use Certified because they are one of the few contractors in Maryland who are recognized by Certained to be "select master shingle applicators" This allows them to offer a 5 star warrany that includes a 50 year labor warranty backed by Certainteed in case the installer ever goes bankrupt. I also chose them because they had good reviews on Angies List and checked out well the BBB. Pricing: Competitive Contract: Excellent at putting in writing what they will do. I wish more contractors would write contracts the way they do. Communication: When the secretary in the office is not able to get the phone, or they are closed, they have an answering service to take a message. Some people may love it, but I personally don't care for it because I felt like the message got lost in translation. I'd rather just speak to the office directly & leave a mesage on the voice mail. I'm sure there are different opinions on this. This is just an opinion so take it for what it's worth. I'm very dependent on email for communication because I frequently don't have time to make long phone calls. i also like to have everything in writing. So I did most of the communication regarding my roof via email. I asked a lot of questions & sent multiple emails, and was probably a little annoying, but they did answer my questions in a reasonable time (sometimes a few days). Installation: Everything went well as a whole. The roof looks nice and I should never have to do it again! They cleaned up relatively well but I have found multiple nails on my property since they left. With my young children I would have preferred to find none, but that may not be possible. They did magnetize the yard. Problems: They used my new gutters to store their tools and minorly damaged 2 gutters. The company that delivered the roofing material left a 18 inch by 18 inch crater in my yard.

Workers arrived early Monday morning (7:30) and began removing existing roof. (Note:this is quite a noisy endeavor and one shoulld not remain on the top floor of your house while they are ripping and banging! I was glad to leave the house and go to work!) Upon my return home that evening, the roof was completely installed! On the next day, the gutters and trim were installed. The crew worked tirelessly, even in the rain. They cleaned up all debris, they were efficient and finished within the contracted length of time. We called the office twice for further clarification and calls were returned within a reasonable time frame.

I would recommend them. I called them to look at some shingles coming off. The shingles were from the neighbor's house but they came right out to look at it.

This company, Certified inc, impressed from the start. The salesman, Jim, was totally professional, explaining in detail what his company proposed, and answered all my questions. Even more impressive, Jim handed me a printed contract, complete with work description and price, before he left the house. It turned out to be the lowest price of three that I had solicited. As soon as we had a contract, the job was scheduled within two weeks, and except for a couple days of rain delay, the crew arrived as advertised and started the job. The crew was very competent, headed by a supervisor who kept me informed at every turn. I had asked to view the progress at certain intervals, and the supervisor unfailingly notified me at the appropriate times - and even offered to have me witness the entire job if I wanted. The job was completed in 3 days, with the crew working though a weekend to avoid rain. The end result is completely satisfactory and professional. I would highly recommend Certified to anyone looking for a great roofing contractor, for their professionalism, competence and diligence. They obviously have the formula down for "customer satisfaction".

It went very well. Good price. They did it very quickly and efficiently. I've been very happy with it.

I selected three company from Angie's list for estimation. Certified Inc was the second company. Jim Lessig came out for estimation. He brought out a binder that had all important documents and past customer name and address. He did measurement and went to his truck to write up the proposal. He explained the work involved and choices for different shingles and different price. After we decided to go with them, we can sign the paper and fax to them. They can start job withing 7 days. We didn't have to make any down payment before the job was done. It took them one and half day to finishe whole thing. We were pleased with their work. We are consider using them for other properties. 9/18/11 update: After we finished our roof, my husband called Jim to look at the roof work for our commercial property. Jim gave an estimate for the job. Since the commercial property is little more complex, my husband wants have different options and price for them. My husband even made a trip to meet Jim near his job site. After that my husband called him and emailed him to try get the proposal from him. He did not return calls or emails promptly. After one week Jim replied email in a sarcastically tone. My husband decided not to use Certified Inc for another roof job. In June or July we noticed there is one single had stick up in the back of the house. It took 2 to 3 calls to have them come back inspect the singles. So the guy in charge of roof installation nail that single down and checked others to make sure everything is fine. I called again in the week of 9/12. I told them that one section of gutter dripping when raining hard. I noticed dripping one day in August and did not give much thought. It dripped a lot during hurricane Irene and cost water get into the basement from the dripping side of wall. I called them to come out to see if there is any problem with gutter since there were only one area has drippings. Kelly from the office told me if they come out and find out it was the debris cost problem, they will charge us $150. We looked at gutter and there a but not that significant amount. So I called the office and scheduled to have them come out. The guy came out and see two hands full of debris at down spout and said that was your problem. I told him that other down spout also has some debris did not cost problem. The gutter itself is not full of debris. How can you so sure that is the problem. He said if you want me to inspect the gutter I have to charge you to clean up the gutter. The gutter was installed less than six month it does not have a lot of debris. So I told them if they leave now and we will have somebody else to clean up the gutter and continue to observe to see the problem disappear or not. If not, we have to call them back. He said he will not charge me. They were at our property no more than 10mins. They send me a bill of $150 said they had spend three hours of inspect and clean the gutter and driving to our house. I called several times to try to resolve with them but they never call me back. Now my husband is going to have another roofing company come out to inspect the whole job since we lost trust in them and they are not stand behind their work.

Initially we had tried another company but they were not able to do the job in the time frame that we had requested. This company was able to do the work. We hired them with the request that when the job was close to being finished, they would call my husband so he could come in from work and make sure the work was done as requested. They did the work but never called my husband, but this was a relatively small thing so we didn't think much of it. Later, we saw a lot of snow and water dripping from the gutters that were supposedly covered, so we called the the company about it and they said that they didn't do gutter cleaning, and recommended someone else to do it. When the other company came to evaluate the gutters, I asked them about the quality of the gutter covers which had been installed a couple months ago, and he was like, "what gutter covers?". Turns out, no gutter covers had been installed, despite us getting charged over $700 for the service. I called Certified about this issue and though they said that they would check into it and call me back that day, they didn't. So when I called again, after some wavering, they put Tom, who evidently is the owner of the operation on the phone. When he got on the phone, he accused me and the fax machine of having this section cut off. After I reminded him that I had a document which had their signature on it stating what kind of work that we were paying $10k to have done, he then said something like, ok, well we overlooked something, you overlooked something, and said that he'd have someone come out and install it the next day. I told him that I didn't trust them to do that and just wanted a refund of the $730 that they had already charged me 2 months ago for the work that had not been done on my home. It took a lot of wrangling back and forth about it, but only after I mentioned that I was planning on reporting on this incident to Angie's List, did I really get anywhere. I still haven't seen the refund yet, but will be checking into this. The roof looks fine, just so you know. Would caution other users about possible dishonesty in the way this company conducts their affairs. This is concerning because regarding rood repairs, you frequently have to take the company at their word since most people can't just climb up on the roof to evaluate to quality of the work (or, in our case, if the contracted work had even been done.). I don't usually write reviews, but this case was worth documenting.

Certified Inc. was fast! They came when they said they would and completed the job that day. They did not leave much of a mess. They did a spectacular job and were very thorough, from what I can tell. The pricing was not complicated. It was what we needed and what we wanted. It was a reasonable pricing scheme. I did not do much comparative pricing.

Certified was very professional, showed up on time, answered questions promptly, and did a good job. I received close to 10 estimates for this job because everyone I spoke to gave me a different opinion and it was difficult to know what to do. I was the most comfortable with Certified's suggestions and the way they communicated with me. They also replaced a skylight. I did have an aesthetic issue with one of the sections of roof that is visible through my window and they fixed it right away. The price seemed fair, it wasn't the lowest or the highest bid I received. All in all the job went very well and so far no leaks!

Excellent experience overall. Owner (Tom) was on time for the estimate, and took the time to explain the process in detail, answer my questions. Provided estimate on the spot, and included copies of licenses, insurance and references. A few follow up questions, calls to his cell, were answered promptly. Appropriate materials and options for my home were offered, not too high end, but first rate quality. Work was scheduled around my travel schedule. Crew (led by Javier) was polite and professional. With a slightly late start due to rain, they worked long and hard to get me under roof and shingled the first day. As suspected, the original plywood sheathing was very thin and rotted, and needed to be replaced. Second day, they finished a small overhang and other details, and cleaned up well. Another crew overlapped and completed the gutter work. Only one issue, which is the reason for the B in quality. I noticed at some point that they had cut square holes in the new plywood where 2 vents had been in the original roof. These vents were to be removed but not re-installed, as they were installing a new ridge vent in its place. This was in the contract. I brought this to Javier's attention, and he said no problem, they would take care of it. After the crew left on day 1, I saw from looking in the attic that they chose to patch the holes (with new plywood), rather than replace the entire sheet. I did note that the patches are tied in well with H clips, and span the rafters, as they should. While I would have preferred no patched plywood in my new roof, I decided to accept it as is. It does appear to be done correctly, and I am confident Certified will honor their warranty if any issues arise.

They were the only company that did not require any money down before starting. They were also the only ones that were a CertainTeed preferred dealer.I was very pleased with their work and their professionalism. They completed everything in two days in the dead of winter. They cleaned up my driveway as well as my whole yard. I've gotten many compliments from my neighbors. They even gave me a multi-house discount because my neighbor also replaced his roof when he saw the job they had done on mine.
