Certified Roofing

Tom Keene gave us a very detailed and professional proposal, which we selected from among a total of three estimates. Certified was the least expensive of three estimates. They were prompt about scheduling. Crew had a little delay starting first day because materials were late arriving. Intermittent rain probably added about 1/2 day to the project. but the crew was very hard-working, pleasant and professional. Clean-up was very thorough and the finished job was beautiful.

I was very pleased and the many references gave me peace of mind. My roof was 3 stories up so it was important to get a company with a reputation for knowing what they were doing. The roof had 7 layers on it and the neighbor's was similar and had fallen in! So this was a serious situation. They removed the layers, put down new wood as needed and put down new rubber roof. Also, dormers were leaking and they were repaired, too. Job was done in about 2 days.

This was during the time where we had heavy rain, and not to my surprise, the roof started to leak. I had a date in early September, but we started having down pours for days on end and they could not get the roof done. This pushed everyone back and about a week later I was re-scheduled and they kept in touch with me throughout the entire time of the rain storms. It was on a Saturday and they came out on time finished the job in a day. I was told that the skylight had to be ordered, but it arrived the same time they started the roof. The old skylight I kept closed up and did not open until almost 20 years later when Certified replaced it. What a difference that made in actually seeing the sky for the first time I brought this house. Certified Inc. Roofing folks did a great job in being patient with me. This was a very long process on my part because I wanted to take my time to make sure that I was doing the right thing. As a senior you have to. I did get a discount from Angies' List Coupon and guess what.....they sent me a holiday present. You must hurry and take advantage of this before they are all out of holiday gifts and get your roof replaced before the winter sets in.

The initial response was good. The appointment was set very quickly and Jim showed up early. He was responsive to my questions in person and seemed very knowledgeable. He said that he would email the proposal later that day, and he did. But that's where the responsiveness ended. Although JIm said when we met, and reiterated in his email, that I should contact him with any questions about the proposal, when I did I never heard back. There were a number of questions that I had because the proposal was ambiguous on a number of issues (including the cost of lumber) and did not discuss how the repairs to my existing roof would be addressed. Jim did not respond to my specific questions by email. I gave it two weeks (Thanskgiving was in between, so I was willing to give it extra time) and then called him. When I called, I could not leave a message because his voicemail was full. So I called the office and explained the situation. They said that Jim had been swamped, but I also explained that I had a leaking roof and already had other estimates and would need to decide quickly. They said that Jim would return the call that day. That was a week ago, and I still have had no response. UPDATE: After posting this, I received a call from Jim asking about my efforts to contact him. He said that the office staff is supposed to print out his incoming emails and he did not recall seeing any from me. He also said that he doesn't recall his voicemail being full or receiving a message that I called the office. He was very apologetic.

Everything went as planned from when the materials would be deliveredme to an approximation when the job would be completed. From start to finish the crew assigned to replace the roof were extremely professional and did a outstanding job. As they completed one section of the roof and move onto the next they were cleaning up the area. When the job was finished the crew went around my house a couple times picking up nails and various other trash. The crew chief spoke with me every day answering my questions/concerns or what was left to be completed. The barn also had the roof replaced so that it matched the roof shingles on the house. As stated the job was done to my completion satifaction.

From the response time for the initial call to the finished product, Certified was professional and timely. I have recommended them to several other people already.

I had several estimates when I decided to have my roof done. Certified was not the cheapest, but I felt very comfortable with the estmator's presentation. He answered all my questions and was not hard-sell. I made my decision the same day. I was surprised that he did not ask for a deposit. The roof crew took only two days to complete the job. The cleanup afterwards was just as promised. The gutter crew did a good job, but I had a little difficulty communicating with them. Because I was not home when the roof crew completed their work, the package of leftover shingles was left in my back yard. I called the office and set up a time for the salesman to come out and move them to my garage and address a minor issue with the gutters. This has been taken care of.

Cerified was not the first roofing company I contacted, but they were the first to schedule me for an estimate. I was impressed by their responsiveness, professionalism and, most importantly, knowledge of roofing issues and trends. They were honest in telling me that I could do a less expensive repair job, but that it would cost about half of what a new roof would cost. I knew I was a few years from needing a new roof so I went with a full replacement. I was also grateful that they were able to start the job before most companies could even give me an estimate. They arrived on time and finished the project in one day. I am not in the habit of making decisions based on one estimate, but I had a leak and rain was in the forecast for the next week. Certified did a good job for me and I am glad I found them.

They did a great job. They were really great. My brother's family used them as well and had a great experience.

We received 2 quotes for the job - Certified's (Jim) was the lower one. We selected the Architectural style shingles - which Jim recommended. He outlined what they would do, what the basic time line would be. My wife and I discussed the 2 offers, we had a couple questions (once via email and once via phone) that were both answered by Jim promptly. When we accepted the offer - we were scheduled for about a week or so after our acceptance. They showed up when we were told. The job took a little over 1 day. The crew were courteous and professional - very hard working. Two oversights: we have a porch with, in effect a cathedral ceiling. We had discussed this with Jim - they used the same length nails for the beginning of that roof - we noticed the problem (nails were visible from the porch). When they were told of the problem they stopped immediately. Pulled the nails out and began using the correct length nail. I had forgotten to mention the Angie's List coupon the day that Jim gave us the quote. I talked to him later (before we accepted the contract) and mentioned the $150 coupon. He said just to take it off the quote. When I got the bill - it did not have the $150 discount. I emailed him and he said to just pay the total minus the coupon.

They gave the best estimate by a moderate amount. Came when they said, did what they said. Job went fine. They communicated well. Cleaned up quite well and did not disturb other things in a somewhat tight environment.

They did a great job. They exceeded our expectations.

I called them and they said that they do not do repairs. They were fine on the phone and informed they do not do this type of work.

I highly recommend Certified Roofing. I called around and received various estimates from a variety of roofers. I had wind damage and already had a estimate in hand from the insurance company of about 2400. During each of my estimate visits, I determined the level of comfort I had with each company. I did not disclose the estimate as I wanted to get the right estimate. Certified was the 4th company that made their way to my home, arriving punctually, and provided an estimate right in the middle of the other estimates. However, all of the estimates were a minimum of double the insurance company's estimate. The first difference I noticed was the level of detail and professionalism in the estimating process. As opposed to other companies, all of the services were line itemed included the brand and material of all parts. It was also printed in real time from the truck. For better or worse, the the estimate looked like a real contract as opposed to something thrown together in MS Word. (I actually had one contractor who gave me a hand written estimate, no can do). The information Jim provided during the process was top notch. He walked through the estimate line by line, and told my the explicit basis for the difference between his estimate and the insurance company's. But what set Certified apart was their willingness to work with my insurance company and tell them explicitly why there estimate was wrong. However, the insurance company wouldn't budge, but Certified told me to hold fast and be firm. Whenever, I received a new call from a different adjuster, Jim provided me with the info to refute the information. The entire process took about 2-3 months to resolve. But in the end, I ultimately wound up with a higher up at the company that concurred with Certified's estimate was accurate in terms of the required services, and told me the first 3 adjusters made a mistake (Yeah right...). However, if it wasn't for Jim and Certified, I would have been ripped off by my insurance company. I am highly thankful for this level of service. Once the price was resolved, I scheduled the installation. The team arrived with the materials on time, and were followed by the roofers 30 min later. The promptly got to work, on one of those really hot days. The worked fast, and did a great job. They even cleaned out the gutters while they were up there, and fixed some flashing on the side that was not originally in scope. They also recoated one of my lower roofs for a reasonable fee as specified in the contract. They were unable to finish that day, but the project lead came back the following day, while i was out of town and finished up. It was a great experience, and to cap it off, I received a great batch off cookies from the company about a month later thanking me for being a customer. I highly recommend Certified. After about 2 months, I have no complaints and have received multiple compliments on the new roof.

Their bid was the lowest, though not by much. It took a week or so to get the siding ordered. But, they completed most of the job in 24 hours. One gable vent was not delivered with the original order, so it had to be fed exed. When this came in they put it in, put in a new light over the front door, and new house numbers and a new mailbox. Everything went well, and I was very pleased.

We had several quotes. There's was the best. There were no sales gimmicks. The team of roofers quickly finished the job and did a great job cleaning up. They missed reinstalling a minor piece of metal that directed the flow of water away from one area of the roof. When we called them they quickly came out and fixed the problem. The foreman for the project was highly professional and quickly responded to our questions as did the owner. After a summer of heavy rains we have had no leaks.

Words cannot express our pleasure at doing business with this company. When we purchased our house in Dec. 2008 we were told during the inspection that the roof would need replacing soon since there were already 2 layers present and the roof was showing signs of significant deterioration. The house is known as a raised rambler - the pitch of the roof seems significant to me - but what do I know I'm barely 5 ft tall and standing on the ground. In the Spring of 2009 we started researching the matter. We interviewed 3 roofing contractors - Certified - hands down, had the superior presentation. (The other 2 from Angie's list were also good in their presentations.) Their representative was very patient, loaded with information, regarding roofing materials, energy efficiency, and tax savings. He spent well over an hour with us. Certified Inc. was not the cheapest guy in town...but to us it seems they were the best. Unfortunately, we had to postpone our new roof until the Summer of 2011. We contacted Certified Inc. in the Spring of 2011, went over the contract details & set a date. Now my husband and I are a couple of characters...I chose a color for the tiles & thought I'd ran it past him - I ordered them only to find out, by chance, that he knew nothing about the color selection and wanted to go with a different color. Well, the folks at Certified said "no problem" & switched the color! When we arrived home from work the day before the project was to begin, we were surprised to find all of the materials neatly stacked on our roof and in a small section of our driveway! The next morning at about 8:00 a truckload of able-bodied fellas arrived - the foreman greeted me and in about 10 min. commenced to tear off the old roof. We went off and came back around 5:00 and they were still at it...did I mention it was about 100 degrees? They were in full swing until about 7:00. The roof was SPECTACULAR! They cleaned up...after 10 hours in 100 degree heat they cleaned up EVERYTHING!!! The gutters, the lawn, swept the deck, swept the front porch, stairs - everything! Except for the new roof - there was no evidence that they were ever there. Now here's the best part - through hurricane Irene - and all the rain since Irene - all is dry inside - no leaks ...anywhere. This company is GREAT - they even sent a tin of Cheryl's cookies as a "thank you" gift. We have 2 more roofing projects (sunroom & porch) - guess who we'll be calling :)

We received 5 other estimates and Certified had the most competitive price and very good customer service. The job was booked within a week and completed in one day. This was right before we had the torrential rain from Hurrican Lee. After all that rain we have had NO leaks or ANY problems whatsoever. Great experience from start to finish!

Called and was told that they do not repair roofs that they did not install.

Certified put a new roof on our townhouse, and did an excellent job! We were pleased by the attention they paid to our requests, their prompt and specific estimate, and their openess to answering our questions. There was however a bit of a mix-up and lack of clarity regarding scheduling - something they could improve upon. The crew arrived on time, and did an excellent job, in set up and in changing the roof. They also passed through our yard as well as the neighbors several times to clean up after. We had the gutters replaced the following day, and the work seemed to look solid, though not quite as nicely done as the roof. Also, we found a lot of nails and other things in the yard following the installation of the gutters - we told Certified, and they said they would send around someone to sweep for nails again. Although we weren't here when they were finishing the installation of the gutters, the cleanup may have been interrupted by the earthquake, so we won't ding them points for that. All in all, great service, quality work, and a great price!

Tom K came out on April 12 and provided an estimate. On the 28th of April, his team came out and tore down the old roof and replaced it with Grand Manor Certainteed Shingles, including WinterGuard and some plywood that had to be replaced. They finished the work in under 3 days and you wouldn't have hardly known they were here. There work ethic was great! They seemed to just go non-stop until dark. They were all extremely professional and a joy to be around. Tom is awesome! He was so down to earth, yet very professional, made promises that he delivered on and sent out his top team with Javier as the lead guy for the job! Javier was a delight and the ultimate professional as well! They were absolutely the most respectful team of contractors I have had the pleasure of working with. They are fully certified to do the 5 star coverage for the Certainteed shingles. Have already referred them to a neighbor. Professional, polite, respectful, friendly, tremendous work ethic, thorough, are just some of the words to describe this company. Also, have spoken to Carrie at the office and she is a delight to talk to on the phone. She has taken care of all my calls and followed through with any questions and appointments for me. Truly a great company to know and work with!! THE BEST!!

I called, was put on hold, and the individual who answered made it clear, very quickly, that I was wasting my time contacting them.

They were great when they came to do the estimate. They were definitely on the high side price wise. But, I liked the guy that came out to do the estimate. They could get to it quickly. I've been completely unsatisfied with them since however. They were supposed to rake the roof before they started the job. But, I don't believe they did, and I have rocks from the roof all in the inside of my house. When we did the estimate, he said he could come back and seal up the vents when I have them installed. But when I called the company, the woman said they don't do that. The work they did on the roof is beautiful. But the follow up customer service I'm not so happy with. I gave them a C for professionalism for not raking the gravel off before they pulled the sheeting up and for promising to do a work they don't provide.

The people at Certified answered my call promptly, showed up right on time, inspected the job thoroughly, and explained everything in detail. I did not use them because another highly-rated company bid (and completed) the job at a lower price. They were professional and courteous at all times, including when I called to tell them that they had been outbid.

*The team of 8 arrived promptly at 8:15 A.M., and worked diligently until 8:00 P.M. in spite of a 45 minute rain delay in mid-afternoon. The head contractor kept us informed of all the work that was being done, and when the ridge vent system at the peak of the roof was forgotten, did not charge us for that item. *When the job was completed, they took extreme care to clean up the yard of debris, and magnetized the entire area to pick up nails etc. *The gutter system was supposed to be completed on Aug. 17, but was delayed. It is now to be completed on Aug. 18th.
