Certified Roofing

Jim Lessig came for the estimate and was professional. Their estimate came in the middle, and they had excellent reviews, so I went with Certified. Although we had no urgency to our repair, they started fairly promptly within 1-2 weeks. The crew manager was Freddy, accompanied by a team of 3-4 other individuals. Freddy spoke some English, but I had a difficult time communicating with him. None of the rest of the crew spoke English. Noone else from Certified (including JIm) checked in with me during the project. I was told the project would take around 3 days, but it took 5. The only explanation I got for this was that our roof was taller than most, and this took extra time. I'm not sure why that couldn't have been anticipated. The extra 2 days were disruptive, as my young daughter was at home, and her naps were interrupted by the noise from the roof replacement. When removing the old roof, the crew would throw the old pieces onto the ground, either the front driveway or back patio. I imagine this is standard practice, but there was quite a bit of debris thrown directly onto trees, with many broken limbs. I had to talk to the crew directly (in Spanish) and to Freddy to ask them to avoid this. I contacted Jim as well, but could not get in touch with him for several hours. I clearly don't want my trees damaged unnecessarily. Freddy also repaired the two additional items noted above (rotten rake board was replaced, leaking transom was caulked). Upon completion of the work, the crew cleaned debris from the periphery and was done. Upon inspecting the grounds surrounding the house, I noticed quite a bit of debris remaining, much in the shrubbery and mulchings. I also noticed a string of nails hanging from a tree limb, and an exterior bathroom fan vent that was damaged from debris thrown from the roof. I had to call Jim to have them do a second cleaning of the debris from the property, retrieve the nails, and fix the vent. The exterior vent they replaced it with did not work properly. Once opened by turning on the fan, it remained open and would not close again even with the fan turned off, unless manually pushed. So once again, I had to call Jim to have someone come again to replace this. In terms of the quality of the work, I can't comment on the roof work. I can't see it well myself without getting on the roof. They do have good reviews in this regard. The replaced rotten rake board seems to be fine. However, the transom window that was previously leaking is already leaking again, within 8 months. I believe any reasonable repair should last much longer than this. I recently contacted Certified describing the problem with the leaking transom. This was over a week ago. I was told the message would be relayed to Jim who would call me, but I still haven't heard back. Overall, I would not use Certified again. I encountered several issues including: 1) Work taking longer than estimated without reasonable explanation that could not have been anticipated. 2) Somewhat careless tossing of debris from roof onto ground, damaging tree limbs. 3) Had to call them back to better clean the property of debris. Also had exterior vent damaged, and this had to be replaced twice. 4) Transom window that was leaking and repaired as part of the work done is already leaking within 8 months. 5) Communication fairly poor, including no call back regarding transom leak that is already leaking again, clearly not reasonably repaired.

They scheduled our appointment, were punctual to show up for installation. There was only one hiccup that caused some anxiety, which is why we gave them a "B" overall. The original appointment for estimate, measured the sky light windows incorrectly. So after the first day of installation, there was a possibility of delayed installation, if the correct windows size could not be found in stock. The installation team, was extremely professional in dealing with the problem. The team lead, drove over an hour to get the correct window size and was able to complete the installation of the windows and roof the second day. They picked up all debris on our yard, as well as any debris in our neighbors' yards. They even sent us cookies in the mail to thank us for choosing them to install our new roof and sky light. I would use them again and would recommend them to friends and family.

Met at the door by the job foreman - Javier. Great guy! Set the tone for the job. Introduced himself. Talked about what going to happen and how they were going to leave the site at the end of the day. These folks worked hard and I found Javier a couple of times picking up even the small trash items from the job. The site was clean every night. At the end of the job we had a beautiful roof that will last for years. If you're looking for a roofing company that does a great job - this is your company.

They were wonderful people and did an excellent job. They were prompt, attentive, and provided quality work. The whole crew was very nice to work with.

Certified handled everything professionally from start to finish. They were on time for the initial estimate, and within a day or so provided a full written estimate with all details and costs spelled out clearly. Once we signed, they took care of everything else including coordination with the HVAC company for removal and reinstallation of the HVAC system and duct work on the roof. They removed all debris and left the house and yard in clean condition.

This was a complicated project that went so smoothly that neither my wife or i could believe it. Tom gave us thoughtful advice, came in with a most competitive bid, and was available for phone anytime we needed to reach him. His crew were courteous, careful and industrious hard workers who tried to please and accommodate us in any way possible. The cleanup and material management also were handled very well. We highly recommend Certified.

We had a very positive experience from start to finish. The work was very professional and the workers punctual. I would definately recommend this company to anyone looking to have their roof replaced.

The materials were delivered the day before scheduled work. The crew arrived on time the next day and went to work immediately. The work took only 2 days to complete. Finished product looks very neat and attractive. The contractor even threw in re-roofing of a small out-building at no extra charge. The workers covered all landscaping and yard areas with protective tarps. Some of the wood on the old roof had to be replaced and was done so carefully. The magnetic sweeping of nails was thorough enough, but numerous nails were found on in the grass after the crew left. The contractor willingly and promptly returned to remove the remaining nails and inspect portions of the roof that we had questions about. We were quite satisfied with his comments. The estimate from Certified was the lowest of the three that we got, and in fact was only 2/3 the cost of the highest bidder. Moreover, the quality of the aluminum and of the felt was higher than that proposed by the high bidder.

They did a good job. I would use them again in the future.

Jim from Certified came to the house and provided an immediate estimate. The price seemed a bit high, but since we had recently contracted with Certified to replace our entire flat roof the previous year, we were very confident in their ability and professionalism. They lived up to their reputation, and completed the job in one day, in an outstanding manner. Certified is a Class A roofing contractor!

Every other roofer I contacted would come out and take measurements of the roof and then email me an estimate. This particular roofer showed up when I was not there but when I came home he gave me the hard sale and really pushed his company to me, which I felt was unprofessional. He called me and said that he would be there in 20 minutes but since I made it home in 15 and he was already sitting in front of my house with the estimate, I’m fairly certain he did not get up on the roof to take measurements but he gave me an estimate anyway.

It was great. Instead of having a silver siding, they recommended black and it looks better. We had some old shingles on a window pop out, and they redid that for free.

Requested three companies provide estimate for work to be performed and Certified had the middle estimate( all estimates were within $400 of the final amount). The estimator for Certified showed up on time and explained all the work they would accomplish. He was well prepared and explained the materials they would use and why. Also provided many referrals and testimonials from previous customers some which I recognized from Angies List. Materials were dropped off and placed on the roof on the Friday before the work would start. On the following Monday the crew showed up on schedule and completed job in approximately 6 hours. Job entailed removing all shingles and underlayment, replaced several sheets of plywood that has begun to rot. Laid down new underlayment and reshingled roof. Crew took care to protect lawn area where their truck was parked by lying down plywood to protect the grass and prevent rutting. Crew chief explained everything they did and provided pictures of roof before and after. Upon completion of work crew did an outstanding cleanup job (only found one old roofing nail around the entire property). I am very pleased with the work that was accomplished and would use thiscompany again and would certainly recommend them to others.

The job went wonderfully. A crew of 8 showed up at 7:30am Monday morning. The foreman, Javier (Har.ve.ar), introduced himself and described the process they would follow. He told me that if I had any questions or concerns, to talk with him right away. On the 2nd day, a crew of 4 showed up at 7:30am and worked until 4:00pm. Javier stayed on top of every aspect of the job and kept me informed as the work progressed. The crew worked efficiently; no time was wasted. My new roof and grounds around my house were left spotless. Great Job!

I think that the service was very professional. One of the owners came out and he was prompt and on time. He was very professional and came prepared. They came and did good work. The price was reasonable.

My overall experience with Certified Inc. from the estimator to the actual workers performing the work was what I'd like to expect from all contractors. They came out to my house, gave me a free estimate, told me when I could expect the work to be completed and performed the work with a no-nonsence attitude. Very professional in all aspects. I didn't post a review earlier because I needed to be sure the job met their claims that I wouldn't have a problem with my roof leaking. You see, the last roofer eventhough they said they were a "Christian Oriented" company gave me a 25 year warranty on the roof they installed and it leaked 3 months after installation and at least once every year there after untill I had to have it replaced before my 25 year warranty was up. The point of all this is to say, I found Certified Inc. on Angie's List and I couldn't have made 2 better choices when it comes to finding a good contractor and getting your money's worth. Thank you Angie and thank you Certified Inc. You guys are the best.

.I was extremely happy with the work Certified Inc did. They told me they would give me a twenty five years warranty and ended up giving me a fifty year warranty for the same price. They were very professional and cleaned up after themselves every day. I would definately use them again if I would need their services.

He did what he said he was going to do. He did it in a timely fashion, and he cleaned up pretty well.

Jim Lessig came out and gave us an estimate for the above services. He was professional, knowledgable and arrived as scheduled. We felt very comfortable working with him. We had waited for another roofing company for 5 weeks to come to give us an estimate for repair or replacement. Jim came out within a week of our initiating contact. A date was set and the installers arrived as scheduled. They removed the old shingles and replaced rotted wood. Each day they used a magnetic tool to pick up any nails on the ground. They were also careful with the plantings near the house that they worked around. When they finished the work the grounds were completely cleaned up. We have only positives to say from start to finish and very highly recommend Certified Roofing.

I can't tell you how impressed I was with my experience with Certified from start to finish! Everyone that I worked with was fantastic from the owner to the last crew member. I STRONGLY recommend Certified as a thorough, competent professional with a fantastic crew of workers who were pleasant and professional as well. Certified bent over backward to make the installation easy for us and cooperated beautifully with the painting contractor that I used after the roof was installed. I would use Certified again and strongly recommend them to anyone interested in a great job at a fair price.

Very knowledgeable estimator showed up on time and answered all of my questions. Low key and no hard sell. Great price. Showed up on time and worked quickly and efficiently, completing a large job in two days. Only downside: finished late on second day so they left a few nails and pieces of shingles (small pieces) in a few areas of my large rear patio.

They did a fabulous job; the salesman that came out was very professional. They were well prepared and had the things you expected such as references and insurance certificates; they had all their ducks in a row so obviously this was not their first job. They presented the project well and were also the most expensive. They were the most expensive because they were giving me exactly what I wanted. What I wanted was the additional things that were not included in some other competitive prices that I got. What mattered to me was that they were able to do the job in a timely fashion and they were going to use quality materials. I will use them again in the future.
