Certified Roofing

Jim was very professional, prompt and efficient with his roof estimate. I knew that my roof is old, and was at the end of it's life, because started to 'rain' in my house in one bad section of the roof that had been backed up for years even before I bought it. Also the "snowpocalypse" did some damage a few years ago. This is an old house built in 1973, and roof was put on back in the 80's. When I walked on the roof, some of the areas were particularly soft as the wood as old and rotting. The shingles were old and mold started growing on them, and there was a woodpecker in my attic at one point!! Woodpeckers love rotted wood. I had particularly rotted wood in the back of the roof near in one section, as well as in the front in the middle of the house. They did a roof inspection and gave me an estimate. The crew was friendly and didn't even need to come into my house, all they needed from me was access to an outlet so that they can use all their tools and saws and etc. They arrived at 8am on the dot. I saw them replace plywood all over the roof and examined the old plywood which definitely needed it, and started to rot. They came outside to show me and verify that I wanted them to do certain things before they did it. They replaced one area that had a hole in it on the side of the house where the gutters are, and one major area in the front of the house where the wood was especially rotted. All of their work was masterfully done. My new gutters are much wider and larger and look and function very well. I am very pleased with their results and the resulting price which is what I privately predicted it would be. Knowing my house is old and has had problems with rotted wood, I selected them from angie's list specifically because they I saw reviews where they did extensive work replacing rotted wood and rebuilding roofs. I will definitely use this company again if i decide to install skylights at a later date!

Tom Keehn and Certified are phenomenal. They replaced our roof and made sure the debris was removed. They are very trustworthy and responsive. I have recommended them several times and would not hesitate to do so again.

Our experience with Certified Inc. exceeded expectations! The company representative arrived on time, reviewed the current roof status, and provided a detailed overview on their products. Discussion of the service, price, and schedule where agreed to at this time. We had excellent interaction with personnel at the main office. The work crew was punctual, caused minimal disturbance to our property, removed all old and excess materials on completion, and did a great clean-up job. The on-site job leader was readily available for any questions we had and for keeping us updated on the job progress. The only hiccup to our experience was that the supply company delivering the roofing material damaged our driveway but Certified Inc. assisted in brokering a solution. Certified Inc.'s professionalism and concern for the customer is superb. We'd highly recommend their service and products.

We are very pleased with the result!! We took our time to find the right company to do our work. They did a great job on the roof. The crew were friendly and conscientious about our landscaping as they were removing the old roof and finished in a timely manner. One of the biggest issues prior to the work was our siding. Only a portion of it was in need of repair. Mainly, the siding edges that come in contact with the roof line. Many companies suggested we replace ALL the siding. Certified Inc. came out and took the time to really examine our house and developed a plan to address our house's unique problem at a reasonable price.

It was good. They didn't have anyone on site who I could talk to about the work. The one person who could speak English was up on the roof and I couldn't get anyone to bring him down. That was the only thing that was unsettling. They were very fast.

Having my roof done was the first MAJOR project that I had to do as a first time homeowner. I followed the rule of thumb to get at least 3 estimates before selecting a company. Certified Inc gave me the lowest estimate, but that was not the reason why I selected them, it was their professionalism that won me over. Jim, one of the owners, arrive at my home on time and immediately provided me a very nice folder filled with information about the company and the product they used. He looked at the roof...we spoke...he answered all my questions and then some...and provided me a very professional printed estimate on the spot! Once the contract was signed worked commenced. From the guys that delivered my roofing materials to the workers that replaced my roof and did my gutters, everyone was professional and efficient. The work was completed in 3 days....did I mention that they removed 93 years worth of roofing (the original roof plus 2 layers of patch work). The guys would have been done sooner but there was a lot sub-roofing (the wood) that had to be replaced. Once the work was done, I felt an immediate difference in the warmth of my home. I am eternally grateful to Certified Inc. I will use them for all my roofing needs. NOTE: It is important to mention, I requested an estimate on 2 separate occasions a little over year a part. The estimate did not change.

It could not have gone better. There was snow on the originally scheduled day, so they came the following day and did all the work by 5:00, including clearing snow form the roof, removing two layers of shingles, replacing two rotted sheets of plywood, and wrapping weatherproofing fabric on the new roof, and 50-year shingles. Their clean-up made it impossible to tell they had been here, and they showed me around the house and up in ther attic, answering all my questions. Highest recommendation..

The roof looks great. It's doing what it's supposed to do. They did what they said they were going to do. Everything turned out well. I would recommend them.

Roofing: Overall roofing job was good to excellent, but there were problems: Certified was contracted to remove the plywood over the cathedral ceiling and add a layer of insulation. Instead they removed the existing insulation and then added new R-15. When I caught the mistake, they added another layer at their expense. They also the cut slot for the roof vent to the end of rake, then had to cover it up. They also removed a 2x4 support on one eave, and had to replace it when I discovered the error. They left loose aluminum drip edge on roof at end of first day -- this was thrown by the wind in evening, narrowly missing our cars in the driveway. Although loose nail/screw pickup was generally good, we found several screws in driveway after job was finished. Fortunately this was discovered before the screws punctured our tires. Communication between Certified management and the sub-contractor was sometimes incomplete, and supervision of workers was weak. This was a particular problem on this job because 8 workers were needed to remove all shingles, remove/replace existing plywood, add insulation, and cover roof with felt paper, all in one day. Siding and gutters: The siding job was excellent. The work was done quickly with no problems. Certified also added siding in a few areas that weren't listed in the contract.

The job went well. There was an Angie's list deal to have your roof replaced. I was given an initial estimate below the cost of the Angie Deal price based on the size of my roof. Included in the contract was the price per square foot for additional items not covered incase discovered while doing the job. We were able to schedule the job about a week after the assessment. Based on the size of the roof it was thought the work could be completed in one day. The workers arrived promptly but soon found extensive rotted wood (including rafters) that would need to be replaced. The rotted wood was removed and another estimate was given based on the significant amount of carpentry work that was needed. The job took 21/2 days including clean up. They were thorough and professional.

I was really happy with them. I worked pretty directly with one of the owners and I had a lot of faith in him. His guys did a really good job. I had one little problem and he worked it out to more than my satisfaction. It was a really good experience and I would recommend him to anyone.

Initial visit to estimate cost was thorough and professional. Roof has a pretty steep pitch and took some care to safely roof. Once details of work and actual materials were well defined, Certified price was the best of the roofing estimates we obtained, although we were very careful in selecting the contractors from whom we requested estimates. Certified warranty was the best of any proposed. We were very lucky with weather. They started the work on the day specified, started work on time every day, cleaned up each day, protected landscaping, workers and foreman (Julio) were very pleasant, Julio responded effectively to specific concerns. Crew worked very well together and seemed very well organized and efficient. Full job was completed in 3 days as specified and crew did a complete final cleanup as specified. We would certainly use them again and would recommend them to others.

I contacted Certified INC, because I had a leak in my roof and they mentioned that I needed a new roof. They were within the ball park with the estimate for a new roof. I have an old home with some additions. They came onsite and did a good job. They explained and educated me with what they were doing to the roof. They were knowledgeable with what materials they were using and why. They performed as advertised. They were polite, very professional and they were on time. They did this before winter. I asked them upfront about the debris around my home. They have a machine that picked up all the nails and metal objects after the job.

Certified INC. responded to my Angie's List email within hours and were at my house two days later to take a look. A nice young man showed up, obviously knowledgeable and professional. The next day I received his quote via email. It was clearly written in plain terms, easy to understand, and what I considered a fair price. After all they replaced the entire Mansard on the outside. I only need a few feet of wood underneath replaced due to a old rot. Amazing considering the age of the house! - On Day 1 - The Certified Team of 2 men showed up ON TIME and were very nice. They spoke with me before starting the job, introduced themselves and answered my questions. They took great care not to damage my gardens in the small front yard... and after they cleaned the entire area including neighbor's yards and porches. They had the roof pulled off and protected for the night by the end of the first day. - On Day 2 - They came back and finished the job: - They re-crafted the hidden gutter found in the front trim work, completely in copper as originally built. Added new valley edging and side edges all in Copper. - Removed slate and replaced with color matched - Carriage House cut - new shingles. Directly we are able to sense more air tightness by way of gaps closed with the new Mansard covering - completely closing the front for good. The final job is beautiful!

Only one roofer showed up and worked alone. Did the roofing but spoke little english making communication difficult. Did only the minimum work to get the roof done. Clean was not good, and he left nails in around the house and in the driveway for us to clean up. Job looks good but some old rafters needed repair which were ignored and left in place. Called and emailed for a come back, which were all ignored. Unresponsive

This is the second time we have used Certified for a roofing project. The first was for our house; this was for the horse barn and attached hay and tractor sheds. They arrived as scheduled, with a large crew, and finished the job in one day. Most importantly, they did an excellent job of cleaning up the area, particularly any places where the horses regularly walk. No stray nails or debris was a key concern for us.

I had a small leak in my roof which wasn't getting into my house, but I knew I needed to get it taken care of as soon as possible, especially with the winter we were having. From the moment I contacted Certified Inc. and spoke with Jim, I knew I had the right company for the job. I got five quotes for a new roof and Certified wasn't the least or most expensive quote I received. I initially asked for a quote for a 30 year shingle because I was planning on selling my home. I decided not to sell and went with a 50 year architectural shingle which I am very happy with. Jim wrote up the quote the same day he came out. I did a lot of research about roofing and emailed Jim numerous times to ask him and each and every time, he was patient, polite and answered my questions in detail. I signed the contract with him and it took less than two weeks for his crew to come out. The weather was a bit problematic, but we lucked out and caught a day that the sun broke out and the temps were in the 50's. They had to remove snow and shingles from the roof. His crew started about 1pm and at 5pm had most of the roof done, but had to come back the next day to finish up which took about 1.5 hours. His crew was professional and hard working. The foreman showed me the damaged wood that needed replacing and everything went off without incident. The new roof looks great and I have not had any problems at all. Because there was snow on the ground, there were more nails and old shingles that I would have liked, but I can't really fault Certified as my deck was covered in snow as well as my front yard. A colleague at work needed a new roof, I recommended Certified and he used them and was also very happy with the price and the workmanship. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants an honest and professional roofing company.

The workers showed up Saturday morning to perform the work, but didn't quite finish as there was a small section near the ridge that still required shingles. Our back deck was left dirty and was littered with nails. I understand they didn't clean up entirely because they weren't finished with the job. I assumed they would be back on Monday to finish the work. When they didn't show, I called and left a message on Tuesday, then again on Wednesday. I finally got a call back on Thursday morning. The crew finally came back on Thursday to finish up and clean up all the nails and debris. Finishing up took less than 2 hours, so I am not sure why the crew didn't come back until Thursday to finish when they did the initial work on the previous Saturday. I suspect maybe they were just busy on other jobs and making up for consecutive rain days the previous week. The unfinished roof was covered, but it was a little annoying that they did not clean up our back deck until Thursday. Overall, I am very happy with the quality of work, I just wish they wouldn't have waited 5 days to finish less than two hours of work. There doesn't seem to be other reviewers who have had issues with responsiveness, so maybe my particular case was a fluke.

The owner came and that made a difference. He was very professional and was a nice person. The guy in charge of the work called around and found out why there was a hole in the roof. They did a good job.

It went very well, they did a big job all in one day. They removed all the old material that was on the old roof and cleaned my driveway very well. At the end, they all thanked me for hiring them. Almost every Spanish person could speak English so it was easy to converse with them. They also replaced a roof support post for me that had termites in it. They bought a pressure treated post to replace the old one. They said this new post would be termite resistant. They just told me they couldnt paint if for me. I am very happy with Certified and should have had my roof replaced a long time ago.

Certified provided a quote for a new flat roof. When going on the roof to check it out, they accidentally tracked stuff onto our rug which could not be removed. Jim immediately bought us a brand new rug online, no further questions asked. He just felt it was the right thing to do. Highly professional and a class act. We did not use them for the roof, but I vouch for their high standards of professionalism.

I was referred by my colleague. She just did her roof about 1 month before me. They are professional. Jim was the guy came out doing the estimate for me. He's very nice, explained everything in detail, gave some nice advices, answered my questions. The price was very reasonable compare to some other quotes I got, and comparable to my colleague's. According to Jim, I have a 1400 sq ft roof. Just for you to get some idea. Jim was not at the site at all when the job was being done. The crew was led by Juan (the only one who can speak English, the other three very little English). The crew was professional and nice, working hard. The roof looks great now! No problems so far after lots of rain. One tip: Go over details (if you have any special requests like me) again with the crew before they start their job to make sure everything is done right the first time. Overall, it's a great company!

Certified was very professional and appreciated their business acumen. At the time of the estimate, they printed out everything that they would do with a quoted price on site. I actually noticed Mule Hide on my siding and deck two weeks after the job was completed. I was concerned about where the repairs had been done. I called Certified Roofers and they had someone come out right away and fixed everything and showed me a few extra tips as well. I was so impressed with their response because it was very prompt and professional even though they had already been paid by me. I highly recommend their services.

We had a persistent leak in our flat EPDM roof, which I was unable to fix after numerous attempts. We asked Certified and several other companies to give us bids on repairs. Certified was by a long shot the lowest bid, partially because they were the only company who proposed putting the new roof over the old one instead of tearing off the old one first. To me this was a very sensible strategy, since this kind of roof is relatively light weight and in any case, this would in a sense provide redundant protection in case anything happens to the new roof. I did not get back to them for several months, since I decided to try one more time to fix the leak on my own, then winter came and I didn't want to get the new roof installed in very cold weather. Several months after the bid, I called and told tham I wanted to accept their proposal ( sounds like we're getting married!), and they very quickly scheduled us and started the job. They originally expected that it would take only one day, or maybe a bit more, but in the event, it required 2 full days of hard work by the crew. The workers seemed very professional, friendly, and hard working. My only small quibble is that notwithstanding their cleanup -- including with a magnet -- we still found a couple of nails in the driveway. (This has been true of other roofing jobs we have done with other companies as well.) The new roof looks great -- fit and finish (ie, flashings, drip guard, etc.) are perfect. Only time will tell how durable it is, but the warranty is good, so I'm not worried. We dealt with one of the owners, who did the original bid, and with whom I had several conversations afterwards. He is very nice, and knowledgeble as well. I would definitely recommend Certifed to others, and will call them again myself if I need another roofing job on another part of the house.

It was a very GREAT EXPERIENCE NO IMPROVEMENT NECESSARY ANYWHERE! VERY PROFESSIONAL COMPANY! QUALITY ROOF FLASHING AND SMART VENT WAS INSTALLED TO MY STANDARD!
