Certified Roofing

We hired Certified to replace our roof after obtaining bids from numerous other companies. We selected Certified because their pricing was very competitive and they offered a higher quality shingle (Landmark Pro) with no upcharge, as well as a better warranty than the other companies. We also appreciated that they gave us the addresses of other homes with different color shingles so that we could see the true colors rather than having to rely on tiny samples to make our color selection. From the estimate through to the end of the project, the communication was excellent. The crew arrived on time, everything went smoothly, and the job was finished in two days. We were very pleased with the entire experience and would highly recommend Certified.

Extremely well! From the owner to the office staff to the sales person to the technicians everybody was extremely responsive and professional. The workmanship was a plus also.

They gave a detailed description of the work they would do. They asked us to pick three possible shingle colors and then gave us addresses to look over roofs with the shingle colors we chose. That helped in coming up with our final decision and feeling confident about it. They had a sale on the better quality shingles. They communicated well, letting us know that they would drop off the shingles on a Monday, perform the work on Tuesday, and finish with the gutters on Wednesday. The owner called twice. They cleaned up well including blowing off the deck. The roof skylight, and gutters look great. Overall it was a very positive experience.

Outstandingly great. Javier and his team were true professionals. It was interesting to watch the teamwork of the individuals. They knew their jobs and worked quite efficiently. Certified wasn't the lowest offer I obtained, but after careful review and conversations with several companies, I determined Certified was well worth the difference. I'm glad I did. It was not just a roof replacement' we also added eve-line and ridge-line vents. The house was built with no soffit vents. A number of sheathing panels required replacement.

The price was great, the service / work was outstanding and done in a timely manner as promised. When they cleaned up after the job, they even cleaned the leaves out of my basement stairwell! Above and beyond what was expected. I would not hesitate to recommend Certified Inc. They were awesome!

I called Tom, he came by the next business day, provided a very competitive price. We had a quick timeline, he checked and told us he could be there Thursday of the same week. The installation team was on time, job came out just like we discussed in the sales process.

The roofers arrived as scheduled and worked throughout the day. They drooped off their supplies the day before. The cleaned up the yard once they were finished.

It went well. Started the work five days after I signed the contract and kept me informed throughout the process.

A crew of four worked the house and garage for five days. Their siding work is superb and our home looks fantastic. The team took their time and made sure the job was done right. The only big issue I had was in how they connected the scaffolding using nails through the top shingles on my 3 year new roof. The owner said they were supposed to lift the top shingle and secure under that, then caulk all sealed when completed. To his credit, the owner immediately provided an additional warranty for my roof where all the shingles were pierced and insured they were all caulked and sealed. This is a great company who will treat you right and make sure you're completely happy before they're done. I highly recommend.

One of the biggest pros was the speed of providing the quote. We had met with multiple roofers and James was able to come in, explain the process, return to his vehicle and prepare a quote within 20 minutes using satellite imagery of the house. The quote was clear and easily comparable to the other service providers. It was considerably lower than the two other Angie's List providers we had spoken with. So, our decision was an easy one as the job was a large one. We had a couple of unexpected bumps in the install. However, James worked diligently to correct these unforeseen bumps. For example, during gutter installation, a large hole was made in our screened in porch screen. Within a week, James had scheduled the porch screen repair folks to come out and fix it.

Fantastic!!! James came by the next day to give us an estimate. Very personable and knowledgeable. Gave us brochures with the options for color/style. Once we decided to go with Certified they put us on the schedule within the week. The guys who showed up to do the roofing and skylights were super professional and efficient. They knocked it out in one day and did full clean-up. Everything looks great. No damage to the garden or trees. Day 2 the guys replaced the gutters. Our color choice was unusual so James called to make sure they had it right. Big points for that -- the true mark of a professional is when they notice that something doesn't seem right. The gutter job spilled over to day 3. Final outcome looks amazing! Quality work, professional crews. A+++

Certified was very competitive on price. When I requested they try to match a competitor's pricing, they were able to do so and scheduled the work accordingly. The crew was punctual, and very polite. After the crew did the demolition there were a few scuffs on our back porch. They did not hesitate to return (twice!) to patch up the painting and make sure everything was as good as new. I would highly recommend Certified for their professionalism and competitive pricing.

The workers were prompt and did an excellent job. Tom came out to give an estimate and was very knowledgeable and had all the information printed out for me. They used good quality material and did a good clean up.

Any small thing I asked them to do was taken care of right away. My neighbor who is not well watched the roof being replaced and was very impressed.We were very pleased as they did an excellent job with both work and clean up.

Everything went great. Workers came when I was told they would. They cleaned up as they went along. Also was provided addresses of houses that had the roof choices I picked out so I could be sure which roof I wanted to order.

The project was on time and on budget. Everyone was very polite and responsive including the office staff, sales and work crews.

This was the second project we had Certified do at our house. They did an excellent job.

They can't work with insurance company

A tree had fallen and knocked the chimney into the roof, Certified was very responsive to repair the damage to the roof and the gutter. Having installed the roof 3 years ago there was no problem matching the shingles. The finished product looks great. i would recommend Certified in the future. K. Woodside

I appreciated the roofing crew was prompt and courteous. They double checked & removed by hand those loose nails and roofing debris that scattered on the lawn & in the flowerbeds afterward- it was a full day's job.

All aspects of my experience were excellent. James, the estimator, was very easy to work with and offered competitive pricing for the job. He was very communicative and kept me updated as the work progressed. As far as the actual work goes, I can't recommend Jesus, the foreman, highly enough! He was fantastic, took great pride is his and his team's work, answered all of my questions, and accommodated my every request! The work was completed to the highest standards as far as I can tell and I'm very pleased to have Certified's 15 year workmanship and 20 yr material warranties--which were by far far the best of the other companies I got bids from. Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with the new roof and particularly the skilled and effective workers who completed the job. The customer service was second to none, both over the phone and at the job site. Would use Certified again for any future roofing needs and would particularly recommend Jesus as foreman!

The good price and the partnership with the solar company made me want to go with this company. I got 4 bids for my roof replacement and Certified’s was the lowest. They had done my neighbor’s roof and I had a good recommendation from him. Plus they have a great partnership with a solar company, Solar Solution. They combine the cost of the roof with the cost of the solar panels so that both qualify for the 30% federal tax credit. Solar Solution sells the solar renewable energy certificate (SREC) so in DC you get a 20 panel solar array for $5200 ($3640) after the tax credit. And you own the solar panels (not lease). With the tax credit on both the roof and the solar panels, the solar panels pay for themselves after less than a year of electricity savings. And then you get electricity savings for the 25 yr life of the panels. They did a modified bitumen granulated white flat roof. They added blown in insulation. They removed the rotted 1 x 6 planks. I had them remove the non-rotted 1 x 6 planks as well so they could access the area to add the insulation. I really wanted insulation because my house loses a lot of heat. Then they replaced with plywood. They took pictures and video of the work. They did the flashing around the chimney and the roof caps. They replaced the gutters. I was pleased with the work. I’m also pleased that the roof comes with a 15 year workmanship warranty and 20 yr product warranty. The solar panels come with a 10 yr workmanship warranty and a 25 yr product warranty. What I had before: a black flat roof that baked in the sun with no insulation in the attic, lots of ponding, and rotted wooding supporting it. What I have now: a white flat roof that reflects the sun, has lots of insulation in the attic, no ponding, firm structure and support, and will very soon have a solar array on it that will save me $60 per month on my electric bill. Cost: $7900 for roof, $1320 for new plywood, $1300 for insulation, $800 for gutters, $5200 for 5.2kw solar array. Total $16,520. Tax credit: $4956. Total after tax credit: $11,564.

Excellent, arrived and completed the job as advertised, bent over backwards to ensure we were pleased with the final product. I highly recommend.

Great -- they worked through the snow, rain, wind and sub-freezing temperatures to get the job done on time. They were tremendously hard workers and so far (it's only been a week), it looks like they did an excellent job. We already got complements on our new roof.
