United Service Specialists has been servicing the Washington Metropolitan area for almost 40 years as A.B. Chelini. We have recently changed our name in a rebranding​ effort and will be adding more services to our commercial and residential departments over the next year! With United Service Specialists, you can always be assured of quality workmanship and attention to detail. With over 150 years of combined experience, we proudly combine state of the art service with cutting edge products and old-fashioned customer care. Many of our technicians have been part of the USS / Chelini family for over 20 years and help train our new technicians, facilitating continuous quality. We are constantly continuing our education through classes, certifications and licensing. We can service all brands of air conditioners, furnaces, heat pumps, boilers, geothermals, water heaters and other equipment providing reassurance that you will get the best options to meet your needs. The customer service representative was professional, but they were expensive and inflexible and charged for overtime when others didn't, such as after 4 p.m., which I thought was unreasonably early.

It turned out very well. They were very competent. They fixed it inexpensively. We wound up doing a service agreement with them because we liked them. They will come out before summer and winter seasons to check the systems. Their office person is really efficient as well. At the beginning of the season they called and made an appointment, which helped us because we pay for things and forget to get the service.

I really can't fathom how this could have gone any better. I called A.B. Chelini (on the recommendation of a neighbor) in the morning after a weekend without air conditioning when my heat pump stopped working. The dispatcher was able to squeeze me in for service the same day when I told her I had no working A/C whatsoever. I was told the tech would come between 12 and 4 and that I would receive a call when he was on his way; I did receive that call and he did arrive well within the appointed time. The tech, Hugo, was great to work with: polite, knew his stuff, and fastidiously clean. He also gave me very clear explanations of what he was doing, which I particularly appreciated. I wouldn't hesitate to use the company, or Hugo, again.

The plumber who came did an adequate job but didn't have a replacement item. He told me he would have to go and purchase the part--a small plastic piece--and come back later to put it on and it would cost $60. Since the job was not completed and I could not locate our household checkbook I asked him if I could write him a check when he returned to finish the job. He contacted the Chelini office and the person there said 'no', he had to get the money then and there. I then called up the office and told the woman the situation and she insisted that I pay for the work that had been done. I paid by credit card and told her that I intended not to do business with them anymore because of their inflexibility. They are also expensive. A couple of weeks ago we had an a/c job done that took the technician about 5 minutes and he told us that the standard charge was $175. We paid that without complaint but in looking back I wish we had gone with another plumbing/AC company.

Everything was fine. We have a new furnace, so they the twice yearly inspection comes along with the installation. There were some problems with the new installation, but they were very responsive. It is a small company and you deal directly with the owner and one person in the company, so it is very easy to interact with them. Over the years they have done a reasonable amount of work for me and as far as I know they have been pretty competent, except for the mix up on the order for the furnace.

I called around 9 a.m. to request a plumber for the broken water pipe. A. B. Chelini technician Alexander arrived around 12:30 p.m. He quickly located the leak and diagnosed problems with the pipe layout that had been done by the previous homeowner. Alexander was very thorough and knowledgeable, and the work looks solid. There was no mess to clean up afterward, either. I will use this company again for future plumbing projects.

The project cost a lot because we needed a crane to lift the unit onto the roof, but they gave me a discount. I have been using them for routine stuff, fixing things, and so I used them for this job partly because I had used them for fixing some things that turned out to be a problem. Overall, they were satisfactory though.

I was happy with the time that the company's representative came. We had to reschedule one time before because they had some type of inconvenience. When he did come in, he seemed to be very knowledgeable in the area, but he wasn't able to give me a concrete estimate because they didn't have that specific type of heat pump in stock. I had been waiting around two months for them to find the replacement and it became really annoying, so I found someone else to do the job. That was the only thing which I was really disappointed with.

Ron came early the same day I called to assess the problem (a crack in the stack pipe). He gave me an accurate description of the work that would be needed, and cautioned me as to what work would be needed and what might not be covered under the warranty. Once the work was approved, the company scheduled at our convencience. Ron was on time, with his carpenter arriving later. They completed the job in about 8 hours, limited the necessary damage to the wall to a 20'' square, cleaned up nicely, and were very pleasant to work with. The warranty covered the replaced pipe and the work to remove it.

The person who answered the phone was pleasant and promised to call when the workman was on the way. He arrived at 11am, a couple of hours after I called. The person didn't call me to say he was on his way. He was polite, fast and efficient. $36 for parts, and 1/2 hour of labor at $95.00. Seemed a bit steep to me, but the repair was done well.
