Long Fence

Originally was going to do it myself, but ended up hiring these guys. Initial contractors were a little bit sloppy, but the end result seems like it will be alright.

Overall I was pleased with the work. About four people came to do the work and it took about four hours to complete. They arrived on time. They left the area clean.

I really wanted my yard fenced exactly according to city codes. I had work done by Long Fence before many years ago and called them again. They were very helpful in assuring me that what I wanted for my fence was up to code and completed the job very well.

They were professional and did a good job.

I truly want to close this out since the 3 board vinyl paddock fence was installed around May 2014. List of Issues, simply because of poor workmanship and do not care attitude: The mesh fencing was not tight and loose with minimum fasteners to hold it. It took about 1 week to get this solved Installed the incorrect gates. With multiple visits and ordering the wrong material several times this was solved after 4 months. We needed approximately 60+ feet moved (10 post) since it was on my neighbors property about 1-2 feet (new community). The fence on my neighbors property has been moved, but opened more issues. Yesterday, I asked two guys who moved the existing post and reused them on Saturday, the 10 post that were moved are not solid and be can be moved back and forth 3-6 inches? Response, It takes two weeks to settle. The post were installed in May 2014 never experience this issue since the bottom of the post do not have quick concrete on them. Reusing the existing post maybe the cause of the wobbly fence post. The mesh fencing was removed and were being held by screw fasteners. Reused the existing mesh fencing has broken links and did not reuse the same screw fasteners holes, so now all existing 27 boards have 9 to 12 holes and the post have the same issues. Lastly, reinstall of the mesh fencing is not tight, loose with gaps between the mesh and vinyl fence. I believe the process has been long simply because of poor workmanship, especially when comparing the same type of fence with my neighbors and used different companies. I would not recommend this company even to people that I dislike. It is ridiculous it almost 5 months and project still is not complete. Suppose to be talking to quality control supervisor next week.

Sales person was prompt. Provided a written estimate, and gave us a realistic idea of when job could be accomplished. Repairs were done just before we went on vacation. The crew showed up on time and completed that day, as estimated. When we returned, our niece (who lives with us) said the dog got out of the gate, and the mesh was not securely attached to the gate frame. She used bright red zip ties to keep the mesh in place. I called Long Fence, spoke to two people, including customer service. I explained that the mesh needs to be better attached at the bottom, and that I thought that and quot;dog guardand quot; was going to run on the gate, too. Eventually, the sales person returned, looked at the gate, and said he would go back to the office, check the paperwork and get back to us. He also talked to my husband about installing a new gate. It's been 6+ weeks. We have called and left other messages, but no one has returned our calls. It seems to me that securing mesh to the gate frame would be an expected part of getting new mesh. They used very flimsy materials to secure the mesh, which seems particularly sloppy given they KNEW we were worried about making sure the fence could not be breached by our 20 pound dog. So: quality poor, responsiveness lousy. Standing by their work: horrible. I am just going to leave the bright red zip ties in place, and whenever someone asks me about them, I will smile and tell them that's the quality of work you get when you use Long Fence.

I was not happy with the process. Long Fence responded very nicely when i first contacted them after finding them on Angies List. Some other fence companies I found on Angies List never responded. The salesman was nice but he tried to talk me out of a cross beam I wanted on my posts. At the end of our meeting, he said the workers would put the cross beam when they came, but he did not put it in the contract. The next day, I emailed him and told him that I wanted the cross beams in the contract and he responded to my email that he would send it in an updated contract the next day. I never heard from him again. Several weeks later, the utility company came to demarcate the utility lines for the fence posts, and the surveyor said it was from Long Fence and they only had 10 days. So, I knew they would come within 10 days. I emailed the salesman and Long Fence that I did not want anyone showing up at my house if I was not home because I was afraid they would not put the cross beam and I wanted to avoid later problems. No one responded to my email. Several days later the workers from Long Fence came to my house, no phone call, no advance warning, I just happened to be home. I think they would have put in the posts and left me an envelope with the remaining payment, which he had with him. Fortunately, when I told the workmen about the cross beam I wanted, they were very willing to supply it, so the salesman was correct. I was very impressed with the workmen and the work they did and I am happy with my fence posts. But, the communication with Long Fence was terrible. If I had not been home, I would have still been trying to get Long Fence to fix my fence.

Really great. they did have a hitch dealing with a sprinkler system. Understood it was their mistake and fixed the problem fast. porch install was fast and reliable.

Paul from Long Fence came for the estimate. He came on time to the meeting and was very pleasant. However, getting him to follow up with us was excruciating. We finally got an estimate well below the others we'd received, but when we said we wanted to go with them they took back the quote saying his boss wouldn't agree to it. Instead of a stone wall, we'd need to use timber or cinder blocks for a much higher price. When we asked for an exact number we still never got that. When we determined the retaining wall was too much for Long to handle, we thought we'd just do the fence through them. But we still haven't received the quote for that and its been several weeks of excuses (email wasn't working, out of the office, haven't had a chance, etc.) All of these exchanges together have occurred over the course of a couple of months. Needless to say, we've moved on!

Long Fence was my first estimate for a wooden fence. I only needed two 8 foot sections, a 4 foot gate, and 4 posts. Total estimate.....$1260!

I hope the fence is installed by the end of this week.

The salesperson (Len) was very professional and responsive. He wasn't pushy in making a sale. He gave us three styles and price options. The company needs to keep him. He provided our estimate and we got others from local fence installers but they weren't as thorough or as competitive. We went with Long Fence. If only the service desk was as good, then Long Fence would receive an A+. But they were unresponsive and terrible. They started out telling us the materials needed to be manufactured. It is vinyl PVC so she said it would take 2 weeks. We kept calling and she kept promising the materials would be ready by Friday. Then she stopped taking our calls. Then we asked to speak to another install representative and could not get a live person. We signed the contract two months earlier. I finally told my husband to call Len the salesperson. The very day Len got the call, he was shocked we didn't have our new fence installed and he made calls. We called him on Tuesday and it was installed on Friday. Len is the best. On the day of installation (today), the crew showed up on time and worked all day and finished up by 7 pm. It is beautiful. The neighbors were complimenting how good it looks. The crew cleaned up the yard. They picked up and hauled tree limbs. They did a very professional job. Again, if not for poor customer service, we would give an A+. I would hire them again but they need to improve and train the service department.

During the estimate appointment, they were courteous and prompt. When I received their estimate, which was VERY high, I told them that I was going to get a few other bids. They weren't happy with that. They tried to push their design on me. I felt strong armed. When I told them that I was going with someone else because of a lower price, they told me that I wasn't going to get the same quality as if I'd have gone with them. I wasn't happy with their pushiness or their arrogance.

We signed the contract in May but they haven't done the work yet. Their salesman was very responsive and he had a nice portfolio of the products that he was able to provide. The quote was for $2,500. We installed the fence ourselves. Their price was higher than some but not the highest. We wanted the gate and fence separate so we had to have them break down the estimate more. They showed up on time.

Estimate was $2500. Work was performed by another company for under $200. I guess Long didn't want that small a project.

Provided competitive quote but follow up after that was difficult

Long Fence was solely here for the sale. At the end of the day, after I told him I already had three other estimates, he said "Well, which ever one you pick, if it's lower than our let us know and we'll beat it." I told him "Well, if you can beat it, why didn't you just beat it in your offer?" I didn't appreciate that from Long Fence. They quoted me for $2200. He just wanted the money. I didn't feel like he really cared about what he was telling me. He just wanted to sell me the highest quote. He kept pushing cedar. He told me that cedar doesn't rot but I told him that I didn't want cedar. He kept pushing cedar because it was a higher cost.

We called in May and got estimates from three fence companies including Long Fence and theirs was the cheapest. But then it took from May until August to complete the fence installation process. The good: the estimator Paul was friendly and professional in doing the estimate which included walking around the property line and determining the possible fence layout, discussing options, providing recommendations and taking our order. The installers were quick, professional, and cleaned up after the work was done. The new fence looks terrific and we love how it follows the contour of the backyard. The bad: it took a considerable amount of time for the company to actually come out and begin the installation and complete it (May to August), the original crew came out and stated that there were too many bushes, limbs or trees in the way after I had cleared everything along the fence line lines that Paul had shown me so they left, I called the headquarters and told them that I followed Paul's proposed fence line and cleared everything within two feet of the line. Their response was we will clear it for you for $300. I called Paul and he was willing to come back out and actually use a string to mark the fence line which I used to clear a few more items away from the line. The installers came back out and finally began putting in the fence but they were short two gate posts so they used regular fence posts which were smaller for one gate. So I had to call the headquarters and ask them and Paul if this could be corrected and they promised to send the crew back out. Of course this took some time for them to come back as they were busy. Once they replaced the gate posts we noticed that the latches on the gate they used to enter our backyard no longer lined up so we could not close and lock the gate. That necessitated another call to have the crew return and fix the latch. Last but not least I received the invoice in the mail for the remaining amount we owed for the fence so I immediately called the headquarters that afternoon to make the payment. I was directed to Michelle who asked when was I going to make the payment. I told her that is why I was calling. Her response was that the amount was past due. I told her that I had just received the invoice in the mail that afternoon and she responded well and quot;it is due when you get the invoiceand quot;. I decided not to argue with someone being so rude and pushy and just paid the remaining amount so we could end this. My neighbor asked about our experience with this company and after my description they decided to go with another company.

We were very pleased with the salesman that came out. He was excellent-even when our dogs jumped on him to say hi!!! We got a black chain link fence. Fenced in the back yard-about 1/2 acre, the dogs are in seventh heaven and so are we. Not sure what took us so long to get a fence. We got 2 estimates on a regular fence and 2 estimates on an electric fence. Decided to go with Longfence. The professionalism of the salesman was great. He came out twice-made sure we wanted what we decided on. Even stopped by on a Saturday to pick up the signed contract. The installers came out about 9am and the fence was up and done by 4pm. They were very proficient in the job they did. Made sure we were happy with it before they left. I was very pleased overall and would use Longfence again!!!

I called and spoke with Rick. We had trouble coming up with a time for an appointment, but he said he would stop by within a week when I was not at home to review the yard and call me to discuss the work. I gave him two weeks and followed up with an email. Never heard from him.

The sales representative was very professional and helpful. He took the time to explain all of my choices and options. He also explained how the fence would be installed. The installers came right on time and finished the installation in four hours. They did an excellent job. I am very pleased with the results. The only issue I had with the installation, was a result of an error on my part. I had incorrectly scheduled the date for a week earlier in my Outlook calendar. When the installers did not show up within two hours of the four hour window, I called to reconfirm the appointment. After several (five by my count) voice messages and two hours later, someone finally called me back. Very disappointed in the scheduling/installation manager for not promptly returning my call.

They were excellent. They put up a six foot fence around the yard and finis it on one day and did an excellent job.

The representative came to the house and measured the area and put down markers for where the posts would go. It took a few days for the permits to get settled and then the workers came out in installed the fence and built 3 gates in one afternoon. The fence looks great and we have gotten lots of compliments. My only minor complaint is they left all the little tags that were stapled to the rails on the ends and we had to go around and remove them all.

I explained to the tech that we were going to get another estimate and we would call and let them know our decision. He was very helpful considering we have 3 pit bulls and this is what the fence was for. I was very happy about the price also.

Long Fence rep came out for estimate on a Saturday and said I would receive the estimate the following Monday. Never received the estimate and after a week, followed up with a voicemail and e-mail but never received a response. Never even received a courtesy follow-up. Lousy customer service. Regret wasting time with them. Going with another company.
