Jeff provided an estimate that substantially beat other estimates with the same materials. He communicated frequently with me prior to the project, and he provided addresses of nearby homes, in order that we could see some of his company's work. When the job was finished, we were very satisfied with the fence and the gates that he installed, as they followed the contour of the land in our back yard. I would definitely recommend Phoenix Fence as a contractor for home improvement projects, as I appreciated the owner's service-oriented approach toward his customers.
Description of Work: Phoenix Fence replaced our split-rail fence in May, 2012. Jeff, the owner, communicated with me on a timely basis, described the materials that he would use in the construction of the fence, and provided the lowest bid. After estimating the date that he could install the fence, he contacted me with an earlier date, which suited our schedule. His work crew was very courteous, and removed our old fence and other materials after they completed the fence.

I am very satisfied overall and would recommend Phoenix Fence without reservations. First and foremost, you deal directly with the company's owner, Jeff Rogers, who obviously knows a great deal about this business. Jeff would assist you very ably through the decision-making process regarding design, specs, type of wood to be used, etc., always (and this is important) with an eye on the cost implications of the various options. Execution was very professional. Jeff's team shows up on time and the work is performed as agreed. They are very corteous and the quality of materials and workmanship is top level. Jeff always comes to check the work and does a walk-around upon completion. Any question you might have are answered directly by him. That's accountability.Compared to alternatives, Phoenix fence prices a competitive, very competitive indeed, given the high quality of the work.I am considering using Phoenix Fence to rebuild my deck with PVC next year.
Description of Work: Phoenix Fence replaced the fence around my pool in two phases (because of time constraints). One side was rebuilt in Spring of 2011. I was very pleased with the result and contracted Phoenix Fence to complete the fence in Spring of 2012. The work included access doors. The fence was entirely rebuilt with high-grade treated pine and the doors made of cedar based on the advice of Jeff Rogers, the company's owner. Clearly, the design and execution of the project demonstrated the high level of competence and skills of this company.

Their service was fantastic. He was very quick with what he did. They pretty much came out within the same week to do the work. He did come back after the work was done to change one of the gates. The gate we had chosen was too small. He provided excellent customer service. Their prices were very reasonable and the work was of great quality.

From start to finish Jeff and his crew were professional and prompt. His bid was strong but most impressive was his responsiveness to my request and his knowledge of fencing and general carpentry. We went with the Good Neighbor Fence with a Cedar Lattice Topper which was Jeff's recommendation. We are extremely happy with our choice and the workmanship of the fence. I would blindly recommend Phoenix Fence to anyone looking for a fence.
Description of Work: Removed 171 feet of stockade fence and two gates along with trimming neighbors trees. I also negotiated for him to remove an old wood pile and mound of dirt.

It was great to work with Jeff. We had a number of companies give us estimates. Due to living within the City of Rockville boundary, what we wanted to do was not strictly within existing code. All other companies said we had to go with something that would be less satisfactory, but would be within code. Jeff Rogers, owner of Phoenix Fence told us that we had a good case and should appeal to the city for a variance. He told me of other clients who he had been able to work with on this same point. Encouraged, I did go through the variance process and we were approved. Jeff then quickly got the work scheduled and complete on a Friday. That night I left him a voice mail about a tiny change we needed and by lunch on Saturday it was completed by him. I never thought I would care about our new fence, it was money we felt we had to spend - but believe it or not the great quality fence put in by Phoenix - and the fact that it legally 8 feet as suggested by Jeff has made it a big enhancement to our property. Thanks Jeff and crew at Phoenix Fence.

I got his name from Angie’s List. He came about two months ago and gave me an estimate. I met him in my property. I made my mind to hire him weeks later after that. He showed up on time. He just finished the work and I don’t the quality as I don’t go to my property every day. He did it on time and as scheduled. I checked with one other company from Angie’s List and he was more reasonable more than 10%.

We struggled with the fencing issue over several months, we have experienced extensive deer damage and wanted to go with a combination of black chain link in our wooded area and Wyngate Wood fencing in the side yards where it is visible. Due to the "crazy" folks in our home owners association we had to modify, modify and modify our plans. Each time Jeff came out and provided another quick and accurate estimate. Ultimately they wouldn't allow for the chain link. But the fence went in days faster than estimated and seems to be doing the trick. We have some additional minor work to do which Jeff will complete in the next week which we are cool with. We want to make sure the deer stay out! I was very pleased with his patience, response, pricing and quality. The deer haven't been so happy!
Description of Work: Put in three types of fencing over a large area. It included wood, wyngate style, pickett and some wire fencing on top of neighbors existing fencing to add height.

After receiving written agreements from my 3 neighbors to install the fence on the property line, Grow Landsdape contacted Phoenix Fence and together they configured the layout for the fence and the gates. The job was completed in 1 week, with only one minor glitch having to do with two structures having been installed over the property line, but this was caught in the nick of time and corrected. The quality of Jeff's configuration and the workmanship of his crew in constructing the fence was outstanding. His subsequent advise concerning decking and fence property-line location were also helpful.
Description of Work: A new fence with 2 gates was installed on the property line surrounding the house. A very small 2-sided fence was also installed at the front-side of the house to create a "control zone" for locating control panels for the new sprinkler and lighting systems, for a hose and for hiding the trash and recycling containers. The type of wood we wanted to use was Redwood, but after looking at the cost, Jeff recommended Red Oak, suggesting it would not sacrifice much in the way of appearance but would cut the cost considerably. Since cost was a driver, and the fence was only one part of the overall back yard project (see my other reports), I decided to go with the Red Oak. The fence is 6 feet high, consisting of vertical adjacently spaced 4 inch wood pieces, and along the top there is a "helmet-gated" appearance with vertical 1 foot long 2x2's spaced at 5" intervals. Overall, the fence has a stair-stepped horizontal appearance, which means it doesn't follow the contour of the ground. I tried to paste a picture below but no luck (Angie !). The stair-step type of fence does result in space intervals between the bottom of the fence and ground (due to ground slope). Consequently I will ultimately need to fill the various triangular "holes" under the fence with stacked stones. The thickness of the wood (3/8") frame makes it somewhat flexible at a press-touch of the individual board, but not to worry. The main vertical beams, which are 4x4's placed at 8 foot intervals, provide more than adequate frame support and integrity for the overall fence. The appearance of the Red Wood in the beginning was very bright, but it becomes dull over the months. So, I will look into how to revive that bright look ... probably using some type of protecting spray.

We contacted Jeff late last year. We were scheduled for an estimate within a few days (possibly sooner--the details are a bit fuzzy!). We thought the price was very fair, and his estimate was very comprehensive. After comparing the estimate with another contractor's, we decided to go with Phoenix. Jeff was very patient with us while we waited for HOA approval. As soon as we got approval, Jeff and his crew were out here within a few days. We couldn't be happier with the finished product.

Jeff Rogers returned our call promptly and scheduled a meeting to see what we wanted and take measurements. Once he completed his survey, he wrote a proposal on the spot, and gave us several options for the fencing. He suggested how to work with the tree and our shed. We traded several calls to ask questions, requested some upgrades (6x6 posts, cedar caps) and he wrote a new proposal so we had everything in writing. He pulled the permit for us as well and charged only for the cost of the permit. Jeff also dropped off some extra pickets that we requested. The work went quickly and we were very happy with the results.
Description of Work: We had old fence on two sides of the yard, which Phoenix Fence removed for us before they installed a 48" tall picket fence all around the back yard, about 350 feet. The work included 6x6 posts with cedar caps and 3 gates. They took care of all work including cutting brush where needed and moving a wood rack. They started promptly after we executed the contract and once they started they worked every day until the job wa done. Meanwhile they kept the yard neat and even carried materials up the driveway so they did not block our garage. The fence looks great. They did a really nice job spacing the posts, following the contours of the yard, and lining up the tops of the pickets. The gates and hardware look nice. The construction is solid and they used teco nails for the pickets and brackets for the rails. We are very pleased with the quality of the construction and the appearance of the fence.

Overall job was as described. It would have taken 2 days, but heavy rain delayed the process for a couple extra days. The fencing was installed professionally and met exactly what was asked for in the contract. We allowed Phoenix to use their judgement in a couple of areas that were problem spots and they made good decisions on how to configure the fence posts to resolve those issues. We were very satisfied with the service provided.

Jeff Rogers was cordial, reliable and work done was first rate. He even made an extra trip out prior to starting the job to put my neighbor at ease about the replacement fence he was going to erect. And the day of the job, he and his crew were able to also trim back a tree that was hanging precariously over the new fence and house. Job well done.

After getting estimates from various companies, I went with Pheonix Fence because I felt the most comfortable with Jeff, the owner. He's the person that answers your calls, gets back to you right away, gives you an honest estimate and answers all your questions. There was no middle person so I felt I was going to get the best customer service for what I was paying for. The price was pretty similar to the other companies, but I had the confidence that Jeff would give me the best experience for my money, and thats exactly what happened. After receiving our down payment I called and got an estimated arrival date and he was true to his word. That was the other thing, other places had a 3-7 week waiting period. I only waited 2.5 weeks after I sent in the contract. His crew was friendly and competent. I made sure they knew what I wanted and they helped me navigate what I was unsure about. I had a slight concern and Jeff addressed it immediately. Our pressure-treated pine had some stains on it and Jeff offered to pressure wash it if it didnt wash off with the rain. A few days after I requested it, his men were here. The fence loks great and I get compliments from all the neighbors. I highly reccomend Pheonix Fence, Jeff , and his crew!

Mr Rogers came out and gave us an estimate. We mailed back our acceptance with proposed work dates and a 50% advance. They arrived early on the selected work date with a crew of two. They efficiently took down and removed the old fencing and installed the new without damaging in any way a flower bed that ran along the inside of the fence-line. There was no damage to anything and no scraps left around. Very professional. Would recommend them to anyone.

The owner, Jeff, was very responsive. He came promptly to provide an estimate and wrote it up on the spot! This job was a little different because my previous fence had been taken down and some material was left on site by a contractor who abandoned the job (that is a different story). Jeff used the material I had on site and provided additional material as needed. He did the job when he said he would. Because of the threat of rain he showed up with two crews so that they could complete the job within a day. He clearly new what he was doing and is concerned about doing the job right. His repair of my retaining wall was excellent. He assured that the wood not replaced was good and he installed it perfectly.

The installers arrived on time and had already acquired the permit to do the work. They appeared knowledgeable, although they started off wanting to put the fence in the wrong place and did not seem to be particularly interested in getting the location correct. We had to re-measure the property line in accordance with the plot plan to ensure the fence was in the right place. Once this was done, they dug the holes for the posts and quickly installed the fence. The contract stated that they would use cement to hold the posts, but this was not done. When we spoke with the owner, he indicated that he had made a mistake on the quote and that it was not normal practice to use cement for split rail fences. The fence seemed sturdy and he offered a five-year warranty, so we let things stand because the alternative would have been to re-install the entire fence. Overall, the job was well done and the fence looks good. The only other concern is that the gate was made from different wood than the rest of the fence. While this looks a little odd, we expect that it will become less obvious after the fence weathers.
Description of Work: Following a visit by the owner, who measured the property, we signed a contract for a split rail fence with a gate. The length, including the gate, was a little over 100 feet. The fence ran partly along a steep slope. We did not include wire mesh on the fence. The company also pulled the permit for the job.

The estimate was for a two rail fence with locust posts and pressure treated rails. However the contractor indicated he would use three hole posts and cut off the top section such that the fence would be a two rail fence, He indicated he used three rail posts and that was his procedure. Most post and rail fencing posts have a large staple driven into the top of the post to hold the wood together and give some protection against separation of the wood due to weathering. His procedure would leave no staple and shorten the fence. That is the only reason I did not go with him. He really was knowledegeable and pleasant
Description of Work: The gentleman was on time for our appointment. His measurements were comparable with other estimates I received. I chose not to use this company because of a material problem.

Response from Phoenix Fence & Deck
Hi my name is Jeff Rogers and I am the owner of Phoenix Fence and Deck. I buy my materials in bulk on a tractor trailor. The reason I do not carry two hole posts is because they turn colors before I could use all of them because not many people do a two hole post and rail fence. If the issues were just putting staples in the tops I cut off I would gladly have supplied and put those in for the customer at no extra charge. Regards,
Yvette D.

Phoenix Fence and Deck (Gaithersburg MD) did a magnificent job on the construction of my large backyard fence. Every member of the crew provided the absolute best service imaginable. From the onset, my initial contact with the company was an absolutely positive experience: the receptionist was very friendly, polite and helpful; the owner, Jeff Rogers returned my call in record time and subsequently spent a lot of time with me gladly answering the many questions I had and providing valuable information that I needed for decision making regarding the details of my fence. Jeff continued to provide personal attention to every detail of the job during construction. Once the job got underway, I immediately noticed how thorough the crew was in installing each post carefully, with great precision and incredible exactness. Moreover, the highest quality wood (?Ecolife?) was used for construction. Pedro Lopez, the foreman on the job, was incredibly meticulous and took great care in measuring and placing each component of the fence with outstanding attention to detail. The entire crew took great pride in their work, and the finished project is absolutely awesome! I am extremely happy that I chose Phoenix Fence to do the work and would hire them again for any job in the future. I enthusiastically give Phoenix fence the highest accolade for superb workmanship and outstanding customer service.
