After opening our doors in 1970, Wilson Tire & Auto Service has expanded into seven locations across Maryland in Bowie, Laurel, Odenton, Gambrills, Burtonsville, Olney, and Germantown. We are a complete automotive and light truck service and maintenance facility, backed by a nationwide service warranty under Goodyear’s Tire and Service Network. We carry the most respected names in tires at competitive pricing, like tires from Goodyear, Dunlop, Kelly, MICHELIN®, BFGoodrich®, and Uniroyal®. All seven of our locations are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM and on Saturday from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM. they did transmission work and told them the exact engine error codes
from my vehicle. They gave me a rough estimate but said they needed to
run their own diagnostic which is perfectly reasonable. The website
wouldn't let me make an appointment that was in less than 24 hours so I
called the store. I was told that Saturday service was on a first come
first serve bases and that it was best to come early as possible. My
husband arrived 15mins before the shop opened, when they opened he was
told that they have several cars that are ahead but they'd give a call
when they had run their diagnostic. They called 15 mins before shop
closed to say that they did not have time to get to my car today but
they'd get to it Tuesday morning. Bare in mind, the only reason why I
came here is that they were one of the only place that could take my car
on Saturday. Tuesday afternoon they called to tell me that their
diagnostic was the same error codes that I had given them when I emailed
and dropped the car off however they don't do transmission work so I
can come pick up my car at anytime. When I arrived to pick up my car
they proceeded to give me a bill for $150 for their diagnostic. My
response " what diagnostic? your diagnostic is what I told you when I
dropped it off when you failed to tell me you don't do transmission
work" The guy at the cash register told me that he'd take 30mins off of
labor as if he was doing me a favor. To make matters worse I don't
believe that they even performed a diagnostic because I left my
automatic (electronic devise that decodes check engine light, miles driven, how the car was driven, etc) plugged in when the car was dropped off and according to my
app the car not only wasn't moved but it didn't register that the car
had even been cut on. When I initially emailed them that it was a
transmission problem it was the responsibility of the shop to tell me
that they are not skilled enough to perform this type of work. Instead
they held my car for 3 1/2 days just to charge me a diagnostic fee!

My Jeep is only a 4 cyl engine, that only needs 6.5 quarts of oil. Wilson Tire and Auto worked with me and gave me their regular price for a Synthetic oil change. This is the first auto repair place to do this for me. Most other places don't want to listen, and I have to pay the same price as a big truck.The trans fluid and engine coolant flushes were also at their regular price (much lower than a dealership), and alll of the fluids were synthetic.
The work was done quickly and I recieved a call back when complete. At pick up they also informed me of other issues they found. Their communication style is more informative than it was pressuring. I felt comfortable and open to communicate with them about what options I had, and what was critical and what could be held off for a while. I decided not to have the other issues resolved, and they simply said to come back if I changed my mind.
All of the personel including technicians were FLUENT in ENGLISH. They say this is a family owned shop, and I got that feeling from their employees. To sum it up: VERY COMPETENT and QUALITY repairs and maintenance, CHEAPER and LESS PRESSURING than a dealership, MORE RELIABLE and TRUSTWORTHY than a pep-boys/jiffy lube.
