UPS is typically uncooperative in making deliveries. On their first attempt at delivery, they left a door tag because the package required a signature. This had always been a problem I've had with UPS because their rules make it almost impossible to make changes that would result in a successful delivery. The back of the back of the tag allows you to designate a neighbor who can sign for the package. I listed two neighbors; my next door neighbor and another neighbor whose house is 20 feet from where the driver would have to park his truck. Both neighbors were home all day, but UPS did not deliver. They told me that only one address is allowed on the tag, so they didn't attempt delivery at either neighbor because I broke their rules. I have lived at the same address for 25 years and it has always been a problem getting deliveries from UPS. I've had experiences with U.S.P.S., FedEx, Airborne, DHL, and Lasership, and all of them are better and more customer service oriented than UPS. In a few cases I've gone to the shipper's service center to pick-up a package. The only place where I've seen customer service staff raising their voice and mistreating customers is UPS, and I've seen that kind of behavior every time I visited a UPS service center. Every time I have a package delivery by UPS that requires a signature, it's a teeth nashing, nail biting, mind numbing ordeal that defies all logic. All of the other services are relatively painless. Even when a signature is not required, delivery is not guaranteed. I've had drivers refuse to deliver on the first attempt because they decided it wasn't safe to leave the package; UPS leaves that to the driver's discretion. Then, they didn't leave it on the second attempt, again, because they considered it unsafe. They finally left the package on the third attempt even though there was no change in the conditions that would have made it safer to leave the package. Of all the services I've experienced, the only one where packages were lost or stolen in transit, left at the wrong address, or the driver forged my signature for a package is UPS. Once they were unable to find the address, so they sent a notice to the very same address they couldn't find; U.S.P.S. had not trouble finding the address to deliver the notice. UPS is the worst. For some unknown reason, UPS decided to make a fourth and a fifth attempt at delivering my package. They called the fourth attempt afirst attempt and the fifth attempt a third attempt; in addition to being unable to deliver, they are unable to count. On the fourth delivery attempt the driver decided not to try to deliver to my neighbor again. However, this time my neighbor saw the driver and tried to intercept him. The driver told him that I was the only one who could sign for the package despite the instructions on the door tag that said my neighbor could sign for it. UPS explained to me that their door tags don't include the delivery option where only the receiver can sign, so they check off the most similar option even though they won't deliver according to those terms. The merchant says that my neighbor should be able to sign for me. At this point, the merchant is waiting to receive the package back from UPS so they can send it with another carrier. UPS is holding the package for an extra two days because they made two more delivery attempts. I hope they don't make any more delivery attempts; I might never get my package.
Description of Work: They were supposed to deliver an online purchase. The cost was paid by the merchant.

In theory, UPS is supposed to deliver packages to your door on-time and in one piece and get your signature before leaving a package. Unfortunately this doesn't happen. Packages are often handled very roughly and damaged or destroyed IF they even show up. Much of the time my packages say delivered but aren't at my door. When I call UPS to complain, they say that 'if it says delivered, it's there.' I've also had UPS leave my packages on the sidewalk in the city which, surprise surprise, were stolen. If it were up to me, I would never use UPS again, unfortunately I can't always chose the shipper when shopping online.
Description of Work: Don't use UPS ever.

The package was going from Rockville to downtown DC. It took four days to deliver the package. The tracking page on the web said they didn't have the suite number at the recipient's building. Of course, the recipient's name was on the directory at the entrance of the building, and the recipient's phone number and my phone number were both on the package label. But UPS decided to send a post card to the recipient to ask them to contact UPS for delivery instructions. My suggestion? Use FedEx
Description of Work: I had some legal documents that needed to be notarized, and since I was already at the UPS store for the notary, I decided to try them for delivery of the documents as well (I usually use FedEx for important documents).

We are often out til after sundown, and return into our attached garage, thus never using/seeing the front door. The next morning, before dawn, one of us goes out for the papers, bleary-eyed. We stumble over packages left IN FRONT OF the front-door sill by UPS, while we were out, potentially causing us serious, even fatal injury. FedEx, DHL, and USPS leave packages BESIDE the front door, safely. I have flagged down the UPS drivers, they nod, and keep going. I have written UPS management complaining, but they seem not to care, and certainly have not improved the frenetic driving pattern (well over the 25mph speed limit in my subdivision) and hazardous deliveries. Clearly they do not train their drivers properly, and are seriously negligent.
Description of Work: 3 UPS packages this Xmas season were left at our front door, positioned in a way to trip us upon leaving our house. We are 69 & 79, and such a fall could injure or kill us. UPS has done this to us periodically for years.
