I cannot say enough good things about Maryland Cleaning and Abatement. I recently purchased an older home that had lead paint in the doorframes and some windowsills and I needed to remove them as I have small children. From estimates to having the work completed, the crews were courteous, professional, and most of all got the job done. Although the job took longer than originally planned, the crews were always prompt and everyone from the owner to the members of the crew appeared to take pride in their work and their determination to produce a good work product. Overall a clear A+ company and if I should ever need any issues in the future I would not hesitate to use MCA or recommend them to my friends.

MCA provides free estimates however if someone requests a asbestos inspection that is different. We then must test materials and check throughout the home for asbestos containing materials. The fee for a inspection for asbestos is $350.00.

Our real estate agent recommended MCA on the basis of work that had been done earlier for one of his clients. The owner Bob Wiglesworth came out to our house promptly, examined and evaluated the damage, and sent us an estimate. He was very thorough and answered all of our questions clearly and directly. The team of three arrived on time the day of the project. They too answered our questions and explained what they would be doing. In addition to using the air scrubber, they put a heavy piece of plastic over the bedroom door to help keep the fumes out of the rest of the house. Heavy plastic was put down on the floors to keep them clean, and at the end of the day, they vacuumed all of the carpets where they had been working. Their work was of the highest quality. They not only vacuumed the clothing in the closet, but they hung them in the other bedrooms on racks that we had rented. Not long into the process, we realized that we needed to have paint applied to the living room and entrance hall doors. One of the men went out and bought the paint. The crew put up blue tape everywhere it was needed to allow clean painting. We have had various work done over the years, and I appreciate good workmanship. MCA provided extraordinary professional workmanship. I will recommend them to others in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Here is the list from our invoice. Set up an air scrubber in work area to capture any airborne mold spores. Removed surface mold located on front and back doors, ceiling above front door and bedroom closet. HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) vacuumed surfaces, followed by treatment with an antimicrobial solution where needed. HEPA vacuum clothing stored in closet. Applied IAQ 6000 to closet where needed to help prevent future mold growth and to interior side of back doors. Work followed IICRC S520 Standard for Professional Mold Remediation. MCA Primed and painted 3 panels on slider door, MCA supplied paint

I was hoping for more a price break since they were able to use the same containment setup for asbestos removal and mold removal. Otherwise, I am grateful they could do both removals and provided excellent service. They provided written statement of what they did, the regulations they were complying with, and a copy of the asbestos air test. Henry was running late to the estimation appointment, but his office called after 10 minutes to let me know he was still coming. Once I committed, they were able to do the work within 2 weeks.

In preparation for a new boiler installation, I had Maryland Cleaning and Abatement remove the asbestos pipe insulation in my basement. The cleaning crew quickly removed the insulation from the pipes, thoroughly cleaned the area after the removal and hauled away the debris. I was quite pleased with work.

While here, the technician told us it was a very small job, and he'd see what he could do about their minimum charge rates and get back to us with a proposal. However, they never did send us a proposal, nor return our multiple calls asking for the proposal. The least they could've done would be to say they weren't interested in the business. It would've saved us wasting 2 weeks waiting for them to respond.

We found the team to be highly competent and professional. Bob, the Executive Vice President, demonstrated very good judgment in advising us about the options to manage the lead paint hazards in our house. Henry, the President, was responsive to our requests and concerns. Nena, the Office Manager, was helpful and efficient in scheduling our jobs. And most importantly, the team carrying out the abatement was thorough, hard-working, and careful to minimize the risk of leaving any lead paint dust in the house. For the windows job, there was a need to coordinate with a windows company that we had hired, and they were quite flexible and cooperative in doing so. I highly recommend MCA to anyone needing lead abatement work done.
Description of Work: Maryland Cleaning & Abatement carried out several lead abatement jobs on a 1920s house that we purchased. They abated the soil in the yard by removing and replacing the top 3 inches of soil. They removed 31 windows and stripped the paint from the window jambs, after which we had a window company install new windows. They encapsulated the remaining window components using lead paint encapsulant. They stripped the paint from 4 other windows, repainted them, and encapsulated the remaining window components using lead paint encapsulant. They did the demolition of a wall, baseboards, and in-built shelves in a space where we were building a new bathroom. Because there was lead paint in some of the components, we had MCA do the demolition before the building contractor built the bathroom. They planed down doors that were rubbing against door frames that contained lead paint. And they did a thorough cleaning of the basement to remove lead paint dust.

He did not come back for the proposal and I called him several times but to no avail. He seem like he doesn’t want the work or have found another work but he should have informed me. When he came to check on the damage, he seems to be a pretty nice guy and knowledgeable about what he was talking about. The only problem was, he did not come back and I need the job done.

I called and spoke to a very nice lady, who scheduled an appointment for 12:00 a few days later. I waited until 1:30, but Bob never arrived. I called back later and the lady was very apologetic. I tried again a couple weeks later, but a different lady answered. She scheduled Bob for 2:00 the next day. Same drill: I showed up and waited for a couple hours for an estimator that seemingly had no intention of providing an estimate. It seems that the company will have to get themselves a new estimator if they want to succeed.
Description of Work: I sought bids for a medium-sized mold and asbestos project twice. In both instances, the estimator, Bob, failed to show up for the scheduled appointments.

MCA had a scheduled appointment with [member name removed] on 07/09/13 between 10:00-12:30pm. He called into the office to reschedule because he couldn't make this appointment therefore it was cancelled. The next appointment was scheduled on 7/16/13 between 8:00-9:00am. MCA arrived within the time scheduled and nobody was at the address given to us. A business card was left at the property. I tried to reach [member name removed] but was unable to do so therefore I left a message. [member name removed] had called in and scheduled the third appointment on 10/02/13 between 12:15-12:30pm and again we sent our estimator to the address that was given to us and nobody was at the location. A message was left for [member name removed] again the estimator waited until 1:15pm and then left. MCA was unable to reach [member name removed] on these scheduled dates and nobody was at the address when MCA was there to provide an estimate. We are a very dedicated company and strive to keep our customers happy. We would not want to lose any business nor waste our time or our customer's time to schedule appointments and not show up. Our customer's and good work ethics are what keeps us in business.

They would have been my second choice. I do not say this to be mean or anything. I contacted a number of companies and I have something positive to say about MD Cleaning and the company that I hired. I do not have anything positive to say about the others. They were very professional to deal with and I would have no problem using them in the future. They were very responsive and answered my questions promptly. The other company I went with gave me a little better price and had a strong reputation in the commercial/industrial asbestos removal field so I felt some confidence in that. And the savings was nice too.

I simultaneously scheduled an asbestos inspection/estimate for Monday 9/9, and the removal and replacement of insulation for 9/11. I expected and requested this in order to first receive an actual estimate and work proposal to approve or disapprove, and to have time to check licensing etc. on 9/10 before the work was done the next day. The telephone receptionist with whom I scheduled both dates raised no question as to whether that schedule was feasible; and instead expressly confirmed that that was doable. I therefore took 2 hours from work on 9/9 to open the house for the inspector/estimator, who showed up as scheduled. He sight-confirmed asbestos and measured the amount to be removed (60 feet), and we discussed installation of fiberglass insulation as the replacement insulation. I asked him to put it all in his estimate and for the company to contact me with the estimate and work proposal and he agreed. By late in the afternoon of 9/10 (the next day), I had no estimate and had heard nothing from the company, so about 4:30 I called to find out where the estimate was. No one answered the phone (at 4:30!), but I was kicked into the voicemail of a person whose message sounded like he was part of the removal department. So I left a voicemail indicating that I was supposed to have received an estimate and work proposal for work to begin the next day, and had received neither; and if I heard and received nothing from the company by close of business, I would not be going forward the next day and would have to find another company. Later that evening I got a text message from someone at the company stating that they would be arriving early the next morning to begin the abatement. I texted back that since I had no estimate or proposal, the work would not be going forward. He return-texted with a simple "OK", and I've not heard from the company since. No follow up call to either apologize or to provide the estimate/work proposal or to reschedule. The inspector did show up on time on 9/9 and seemed knowledgeable, and also alerted me to a small amount of mold in the basement that needed remediation. For that I give "quality" a C, since the quality of the inspection seemed good (B) but the quality of the rest of the operation seemed not so good. And since after the inspection either he or someone else completely dropped the ball, and made no follow up, the other ratings merit D's except for Price. Price is given a "C" because while the inspection was free (which rates an A), my time is valuable and was largely wasted on 9/9 by a company who didn't follow up, which rates an F; so I averaged the Price rating to a C.

The crew showed up early, performed their work quickly and efficiently, and even checked our kitchen floor tiles for us. Fantastic Company to deal with from the initial call to the job being completed. The plumbers were just about to start breaking up the floors to access the broken sewer and we discovered that we had asbestos tiles under the laminate and carpeted floors in the basement. We made the call to Maryland Cleaning & Abatement and they were able to quote the job and start the very next morning. The removal was done very professionally and finished on time. I really want to thank the office manager, Nena Moran, who coordinated everything for us and dealt with our questions and the jobs demands. Five AAAAA *****

I was nervous about hiring Maryland Cleaning and Abatement due to the poor review they had received on Angie's List. However, I needed a company that worked on both mold and asbestos, which was hard to find. I found one other company and could have gone either way. The price of this company was fair and they were willing to be flexible on price in case the mold was not pervasive and they didn't have to demolish everything (although ultimately they did). I checked their certifications and licenses on line and decided to go with them despite the negative review. Eddie came to do the estimate and was professional. Nena in the office was very responsive and helpful. The work crew seemed very knowledgeable and efficient. All in all, I was very pleased with the work.

Very happy overall. The estimator showed up on time, identified right away what he thought was the source of the high lead levels. Several months later we went ahead with the work. It was very easy to schedule. Nena in the office was helpful and easy to reach by phone and email. The project only took one day. The crew cleaned the contaminated area (properly, with proper venting, neg air pressure etc) and then encapsulated the lead paint by painting over the floor. Full disclosure- I haven't yet re-tested the area to check the lead level, but I was very pleased with the way the basement cleaned up.

Excellent. The removal area was professionally sealed off and vented through an outside window. The entire area was completely cleaned and spotless when the crew left. We couldn't tell they had ever been here, except that all visible asbestos containing material was completely gone.
Description of Work: We had some suspect insulation material (installed around a furnace flue) tested for asbestos content, and it came back positive for a small amount of asbestos. We found this company on Angie's List and called for an estimate. Bob agreed to come out within 2 days and provided an estimate for the job. We agreed to the work order, and virtually all the accessible material was removed, which was an incredibly difficult feat given the tight spaces between floor joists, upper subfloor and lower ceiling. Containment material was applied to all inaccessible areas behind walls. All work was done per EPA guidelines for asbestos abatement.

From the very beginning, the company's image was professional. After making the initial call, I received a return call within 24 hrs. Two days later, I met with Bob Wiglesworth and he provided an estimate and the scope of the work. I did obtain a couple more estimates, but I decided on Maryland Cleaning & Abatement Corp. On the start date, the workers were timely and began work right away. The lead worker explained exactly what was going to happen and how long it would take. Later that day, I was informed that is was going to take an additional day. The job was completed the next day as stated and to my complete satisfaction. I highly recommend this company for their professionalism, their fair market value, skill set, and customer relations. I would gladly do business with them again and again.

As soon as Bob did the inspection, I asked if I could expect the proposal later that day. He was going to email it to me. He said no they were busy that it would probably be Friday November 9th. On the 9th I received no proposal. I waited until Tuesday of the following week. I called MD Cleaning and Abatement. I thought maybe they wrote down the wrong email address. The woman I spoke with said she would pass the message along. Two days later on Thursday November 15th (one week from the date of the original estimate) I did not have an email with an estimate. I emailed Bob off the card he gave me. I mentioned my address and asked if he could email me the estimate. I got no response. On Friday November 15th. late in the afternoon I called their office. The woman I spoke with said Bob was working on estimates and that he would email it to me by the end of the day. I never received the estimate. It is after the close of business on Monday November 19th. I still have not gotten an estimate. Now I have to miss more time off work to wait for someone else to give me an estimate on this job. I would have hired this company also for the work if they had delivered what they promised. Unless you have time to waste find another contractor. The muppets at this company couldn't play dead in a western.
Description of Work: During Hurricain Sandy my basement flooded. Water entered my basement from the wall connected to my neighbors house. My neighbor had several feet worth of water in the house. The owner of the house next door to me has been negligent keeping up his property. Consequently my house is being damaged due to this slum lords negligence and I am going to have to take them to court. I cleaned the water out of my basement. I had Bob from MD Cleaning and Abatement come out to inspect for mold and mildew. Thankfully I did not have mold and mildew but I do have dampness in my walls and some wood rot. Bob told me his company could install hydralic cement to seal the dampness in the walls and make sure my basement never floods again due to my neighbor. Bob showed up on time and was very curteous. He said he would email me a proposal.

An estimate was emailed to member two days after inspecting job. We would never not repond back to our customers needs.
