"Your satisfaction is important to us. It is, however, becoming increasingly clear that pursuit is not attainable through mature dialogue and reason. Your estimator, estimate, & contract were very clear on the possibility of change orders. We do not hide that possibility from our clients, and we are as transparent as possible. The contract clearly states, on 4 separate pages, that change orders are possible. You signed directly next to one of these notifications on the contract to verify that you were aware of that potential. We cannot know what is under your roof until the layers have been removed. It is our job to replace defective roofing and ensure we are building a sound roof. It doesn’t do anyone any good to install a roof on top of rotten roof decking. That is why we go to great lengths to ensure clients are aware of the possibility that wood may need to be replaced at an additional cost. Those conversations are never fun to have with a client. We fully realize there is a perception that companies could be trying to get over on customers with change orders, but let me assure you, the amount we bill/ed for replacing rotten roof decking, is not worth the time and hassle of stopping production to go purchase and install new materials. We do that because it is the ethical thing to do, and is what’s necessary to build a good roof. We understand additional expenses can be a difficult reality, & we’re sorry you had this occur. It appears you will only be satisfied if you don’t have to pay for extra materials and work that were required. The inflammatory reviews & threats you’ve made to disparage our business over this matter is astounding. We installed the best possible roof for you. All we ask is that you approach your depictions of our business in a more sensible, honest manner. Blackmailing us to get a refund is certainly not acceptable. We are a company that prides ourselves on being as open as we can be, and will always work with customers to achieve satisfaction, as long as they operate within good reason."
