They delivered when they said they would, moved my old mattress and box spring to my basement. I wanted a firm mattress and the mattress they delivered is firm.

Buying a mattress is (used to be) so very difficult.   The most confusing product lines and manufacturers, and now adding in the online providers.

Gardner Mattress is just so simple, very high quality, and have been in business for something like 100 years.  And they are local to our area - all made here.

But the most important thing is the quality of the mattresses - and they are the best.  Hands down.   Constructed the way that mattresses used to be decades ago.  Gardner uses Quality materials (not like major brands with phony concoction designed to look comfortable but is just padded up foam that breaks down after 2 or 3 months.)

WE ARE SO HAPPY WITH OUR GARDNER MATTRESS.   Will never buy anything else.  (just praying they stay in business for a very long time -- because there aren't many - or any? - companies like this around.)

Just for comparison, here is our experience with other mattresses. 

We loved our Westin bed that we had for 10 years - but be warned that the new Westin beds are made by different supplier - NOT the same as they were a decade ago.  So that option was out.

We also have a second home where we bought a major brand - don't remember exactly which - it was from Jordan's Furniture, so probably Simmons, Sealy, or some such.   It is so awful.  Hate hate hate that mattress. 

When our Westin bed finally needed to be replaced - decided to buy from the most reviewed online mattress that I won't name because they fiercely track comments and it will summon them (trust me - I have a couple of very weird examples too long to go into here - check Consumer Reports where I posted a review)   I'll say it rhymes with "Laatva"     So lumpy and created a hammock effect right toward the end of the trial.  Do not recommend at all.  

In short - go with Gardner - you will not be sorry.  We went to the Newton store.  Such an easy process and the mattress is very nice!    (I asked them why they don't advertise.  They said they just get enough word-of-mouth.  So here's my contribution)

I’ve never been one to return a mattress. The first one that I purchased from them, I returned after 2 weeks. It had nothing to do with quality, it’s just that I can’t tolerate foam. I went from a foam mattress, to latex. I have no question with their quality. But the experience was simple, there was no pressure on their part and I exchanged the returned foam mattress for new latex mattress. I thought they were very professional about the whole matter.

Exceptional quality and customer service. They delivered on-time and were very professional. We were unhappy with the firmness of our custom mattress and called the company. The owner called back and agreed to take the mattress back to their factory to modify it at no additional cost. They scheduled a pickup & return on the same day and did a beautiful job. This is the kind of service you can only get from a family-owned business which has local manufacturing capability!

They have the best quality furniture at this store. They have good sales people and they are polite and friendly. They helped us and gave us suggestions on our purchase. They delivered the furniture right when they were supposed to and we are very happy with them.
