I had a great experience with this company from the moment I received a call to schedule my cleaning, to the moment they left. Jeff and Sean arrived a little late, but called to let me know they would be late, so I could plan accordingly. Once they arrived, they inspected the chimney, and told me it was pretty clean, and they would charge me less for the cleaning. I appreciate their honesty. They were in and out pretty quickly, and now I can move on to finishing my fireplace project. I'm happy I HomeAdvisor connected me to these guys. They took good care of me.

I recently had my chimney cleaned and inspected by 5 Star after a bunch of black smoke came out, when I lit a fire. Jose and Tommy were both very professional and knowledgeable. They did a thorough job and took time to explain what caused the puff back and they did not leave any mess. I definitively recommend 5 Star for chimney cleaning to anyone looking.

Timmy inspected and thoroughly cleaned my chimney, making it draft better than it has in the twenty years I've owned my home. In addition, he is kind, conscientious, and incredibly careful. I had a great experience working with Tim and his crew. I reached out to a few companies for quotes and ultimately chose 5 Star Chimney to work with. I appreciated that Tim came over to our house and gave us an estimate on the work - one of the other companies I contacted was going to charge a $95 fee just to come over to the house for an initial review, which I thought was crazy. Besides a standard chimney sweep and cleanout, I also needed to get part of the interior of our fireplace repaired. When the cement dried, it left quite a bit of cracking - I later learned this is normal especially for this repair in particular. So, while it was slightly time consuming to keep scheduling followup appointments to finish the work, Tim's crew came over two additional times until the fireplace was fully repaired and for no additional cost. We were also working with a fairly tight timeline that they were able to meet - thanks! A+++

Hired 5 Star Ventilation for routine chimney cleaning and inspection. Technicians were prompt, courteous and professional. They were very meticulous, ensuring floor and mantle were covered and protected. Performed a thorough inspection of chimney from roof to the base and discussed with me recommended repairs. Definitely recommend their services and will recommend to friends.

Nashua and Tommy were very good. On time, friendly and they explained every step and answered questions. They also took pictures of the inside of the chimney to show us why the work needed to be done. I would use this company again.

I found 5 Star Ventilation through the internet and as pretty much every review reads, had an amazing experience!! Amy was always friendly, professional and prompt in responding to e-mails/telephone calls. Given that this is their busy season and also the holidays, I was very pleased to be able to get an appointment within a week from my initial inquiry. My appointment was scheduled for 3:30p today, but Amy called me around noon and asked if it would be OK if Jeffery arrived a few hours early. I had already indicated in an earlier e-mail that if he was running early/late that would be fine since I work from home, so it worked out perfectly for me. Jeffery inspected my gas fireplace and informed me that it was actually very well built and could be easily converted to a to be wood burning fireplace. He took the time to explain the benefits of each gas/wood burning as well as the differences in maintaining each type of fireplace. I elected to keep the gas in place at this time so Jeffery proceeded with a chimney cleaning and flue repair to keep the chimney/fireplace in compliance with current building safety requirements. In his chimney inspection he noted necessary repairs that should happen in the future that could ultimately save me thousands of dollars over the next several years. Needless to say, the repairs will be made by Jeffery and his team at 5 Star Ventilation and I can't stress how highly I recommend this business!!! A+++++++++

Tim and his associate were outstanding, diligent, and attentive to their work. Tim was incredibly flexible with my (the customer's) busy schedule, explained everything thoroughly, and was extremely knowledgeable about the product lines and services available. Moreover, their execution of the job matched their knowledge. Bottom line: these guys are great and are my go-to for any fireplace/chimney issues I may encounter in the future. Based upon their expertise, responsiveness, and customer service, I would highly recommend 5 Star to anyone needing chimney sweep or fireplace installation services in our area.

After a couple of attempts of amateur attempts at repairing my chimney leak during heavy wind/rain storms, I've decided that it was time for some professional help to solve this chimney leak. I started searching around online and the rest of the internet, and it was quite a long searching process. There are plenty of Chimney repair companies out there; but Five-Star drew my attention. It was the high Ratings, plus a Facebook page that allowed me to see some of their previous work. Speaking with Jeff of Five Star I sent him over some pictures of my Chimney with a yard stick for in the image as a reference. After couple of email exchanges, he sends me over a quote - which I found to be the respectable in this arena, especially for the work I wanted done, which is replacing the entire chimney. It's a lot of labor! After setting up the appointment, all that was to do is to wait for him and his crew to arrive. The entire process took a few days; starting with the demolition of the old chimney, constructing the new chimney, and finishing the new chimney with a crown, flashing, and water resistance capabilities. One thing I noticed with Jeff and his crew is punctuality, on time each day and getting everything ready for work. At the end of this, I have a new chimney that is no longer leaking per the recent rain storm that passed through the area. And all of the old chimney and construction materials are no longer at my house. A warm thanks to Jeff and the rest of Five Star for replacing my chimney, I am one happy customer!

I had my chimney swept by 5 Star. To run down my experience: -I emailed for an estimate and received one promptly - it was broken down into the pricing for coming out/initial inspection and the actual cleaning (if it was needed). - Their email response time for scheduling was quick and efficient -They sent out both an email reminder before my appointment and an email invoice afterwards - Technician was on-time, polite, and made sure that no soot was left behind. - Final price was below the estimated cost All-in-all great experience

Did not know what a insert was and told me to trash it and could not move it becuase it was to heavy which i moved it by myself

This is possibly one of the most atrocious companies I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with from a customer service perspective. From reading the reviews this is not an isolated incident. We had 5 star come out to do a chimney cleaning. At which point the terracotta flu stack was clearly in poor shape. We where quoted for a stainless steel flu install, ash pit clean out, ash pit door install, re-pointing on the chimney breast and firebox/hearth as well as some brickwork and patch up. I was happy with the quote after receiving two more at a similar cost and commissioned 5 star to do the work. The work that was carried out was of sufficient quality however this is the only mild positive that I could give to the company. Everything that followed left me bewildered as to how they are still in business. 1. One of the service engineers vomited in my garden "because he drank too much coffee". Not at all because he was hung over. I was left to clean this up after he tried to kick it into the bushes. 2. They arrived late to my all day appointment and had to leave early to attend to another customer. This meant the ash pit clean out and door where not completed despite being paid for. This is where the problems started. 3. They never called back to re-arrange an appointment to complete the work. 8 months later I was still left chasing them for an appointment. They have never been proactive in resolving the issues. I have always had to chase them. 4. Customer service at this company is abysmal. My calls where never returned despite the promise by everyone that they would be. Equally, everyone at the service center seems to be a manager when you try and escalate an inquiry. 5. I finally re-organized an appointment and had someone attend my property to be there for the engineer. The booking was for between 3-5. At 4:15, after calling the service center myself I was told that he had to "pop over the border to Massachusetts". We live in southern CT and as such he was clearly further away than the 45 minutes I was quoted. To that end, he was very late and my attendee had left. I never once received a call from the service center or engineer advising to his whereabouts. Apparently the engineer was impossible to contact and no one knows why. As such, they missed the appointment and he just left the ash pit door on my back deck. Presumably for me to install myself? 6. I attempted to call the service department 15 times from 4.45 to 6 pm on the day of my appointment and no one answered. Apparently on Friday they have variable times at which they close despite their website saying 6pm. I left messages on their website, Facebook page and voicemail's. Nothing was returned. 7. I have now had to call 6 times to get a refund on the incomplete parts of the original quote. Each time, I am promised a return call to confirm the refund to no avail. Each time financing seems to be "in a meeting". I am yet to receive a refund and I

I would recommend this company. They were prompt and worked quickly, but efficiently. The Tech was very nice and also informed us of an issue with our roof, which we were already aware of, but it was nice that he took the time to let us know there was something wrong. Definitely a good value for the price.

These guys are amazing. We were having carbon monoxide gas build up because our furnace BTU's weren't strong enough for the size of our old home chimney. They recommended a stainless steel liner for the chimney to help get the gas out. The next time a reading was done for carbon monoxide it was way below even normal. The levels were never dangerous in the first place but they were higher than they should have been. 5 Star came out, diagnosed the problem, they ordered the liner and installed it. They were amazing. I'd recommend them to anyone.

They didn't seem prepared for the possibility of a blockage in the chimney which caused a lot of soot dust in the basement and throughout the upper floor of the house which I had to clean up.

5 Star Chimney was very punctual at every stage of our interaction. One company wanted to charge almost $9,000 to completely tear down and rebuild the chimney but Ralph (the 5 Star technician) said that was not necessary and it just needed to be repointed and waterproofed which they did for a fraction of the rebuild price. They also explained everything that was wrong with my chimney beforehand and took pictures to show me the deteriorating mortar that needed to be fixed. In the end they seemed very knowledgeable and I would definitely recommend them to anyone that has problems with their chimney.

Our oil furnace was having some problems with its chimney and we had no idea had bad it was. Your crew showed up promptly and were very professional. They knew what they were doing, explained the process, gave us an estimate, and did the work precisely as described. I feel very confident that we will have a safe & clean furnace and I will be sure to recommend them to others in need of chimney cleaning or repair.
