Edward Nilan responded quickly to our inquiry. We had used Ideal Fence several years before and were satisfied with their service. We were equally satisfied with the work on this job. Although the work was scheduled late in the year (November), the fences were installed with only one day delay for snow. Ed Nilan keeps in constant contact to let you know the status of the work. We asked the crew to be especially careful of our brand new lawn, not a problem! Work was quick and neat.

We decided to get estimates from three of the top rated Angie's List companies in this area, which included Ideal Fence. Edward Nilan returned my call the next day and actually came out to my house 20 minutes later on a Saturday to provide an estimate. (This was followed up with a written estimate in the mail). Unfortunately, Ed was not terribly helpful in discussing the pros and cons of chain link, wood, or vinyl fencing. He said whatever we want he carried and could do. I can understand the reluctance of some contractors to offer suggestions in case a customer is disappointed, but, given the expense involved consumers, are looking to experts for advice. As it turned out, his estimate, $13,340 for vinyl (not including lattice which is more expensive) was far higher, nearly 30% higher than that ($10,700 for lattice with vinyl) of the company, also highly rated on Angie's List, that we went with.

This company is also great for a do-it-yourselfer. I purchased fencing material and installed it myself. Everyone I spoke to at Ideal was extremely helpful and gave me great tips on installation. I had never built a fence before, but thanks to their advice, I now have a solid, professional looking fence in place. Eddy was very friendly and took the time to explain everything I needed to know.

They were very reliable. Arrived on time for the estimate and scheduled the job in a timely way. They did exactly what they were supposed to and were right on budget.

Eddie, one of the co-owners, came out for an estimate. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. He gave us an estimate before he left, which was $2000 cheaper than another one we got from someone we didn't like as much, and who wasn't as local. Once we decided to go with Ideal, we had to call a few times to find out when they might do the work. The weather had been rainy, which accounts for part of the delay. We got about a day's notice that they would come, and they were about an hour late showing up the first morning. After that, everything went fine. They did the work in two days, cleaned up after themselves, and Eddie came by a few days later to check on the work and give us the invoice in person. We had a bad experience with another company, so Eddie didn't require a deposit from us until the day that he started the work, which is a good example of what it's like to work with Eddie. The final product is beautiful and we're really happy with it.

He was excellent! Every part went well. Thorough with the initial meeting. Work was done professionally and quickly with great materials.

Ideal Fence was very easy to work with and the quality of the work was very good. The only issues we had with Ideal Fence were relating to the quality of the clean-up they did between days of work, but once we addressed this with Eddie, he saw that this was taken care of right away. I felt that the price I received was competitive with other similar companies.

I tried a half a dozen fence companies for my small project. Most never got back to me or wouldn't give me a quote. Some told me that I would have to cut the boards on the deck so that the fence would line up properly. I recalled Ideal fence Co. and told them to install the fence. Ideal wasn't sure that they would have the time to get to me before it became to cold to work. Fortunately, they were able to install my fence, not cut or remove patio brick and aligned the new fence so it looked even with the condo's exterior. The crew cleaned up after they left. In a few days, a bill arrived in the mail. I like their way of doing business.

Ideal Fence's contact (Ed) was friendly and helpful. They didn't get to the job quite as early as they'd indicated, but they performed it efficiently, and took care not to harm our shrubs which were quite close to the fence. The workmen were polite and friendly. The fence is beautiful. We have had several compliments.

I had a very positive experience with Eddie of Ideal fence. He came out right away to provide an estimate and did the work within one week. Eddie installed to steel posts to the leaning posts. The job looks professional and it fixed the problem. I would use this company in the future.

ED SAID HE WOULD STOP BY DURING THE DAY WHILE I WAS AT WORK AND IF THE PROBLEM WAS AS WE DISCUSSED HE WOULD PERFORM THE WORK. I HAPPENED TO BE HOME AND THE WORK, THOUGH PRETTY BASIC, WAS BETTER THAN I EXPECTED. THE IRON SUPPORT POST HE INSERTED WAS CAPPED OFF NEATLY. PRIOR TO ATTACHING IT TO THE WOODEN FENCE POST, HE MADE SURE IT WAS LEVEL. HE EVEN CHECKED THE REST OF THE FENCE AND SAID IT WAS IN GOOD ENOUGH SHAPE TO GIVE ME FIVE MORE YEARS OUT OF IT.

EXCELLENT HIGH QUALITY JOB THAT CAME OUT LOOKING FABULOUS. ALL MY NEIGHBORS COMMENTED ON HOW GREAT THE FENCE LOOKED. INSTALLATION WAS PERFORMED QUICKLY (2 DAYS) AND SATISFACTION WAS GUARANTEED.

I CALLED SEVERAL FENCE COMPANIES IN THE AREA. NONE WOULD EVEN COME OUT TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE JOB. A FEW ''HANDYMAN'' TYPES LOOKED AT THE JOB AND ALL TOLD ME I NEED TO REPLACE ALL MY GATES AND SEVERAL POSTS. MARK NILAN OF IDEAL FENCE RETURNED MY CALL THE NEXT DAY, LEFT ME HIS CELL NUMBER. I CALLED HIM AND SET UP AN APPT FOR THE FOLLOWING SATURDAY. TOLD ME I NEEDED TO REPLACE NOTHING. HE COULD ADJUST ALL MY GATES, REPLACE A FEW OF THE HINGES, PUT IN STEEL SUPPORTS BEHIND THE SAGGING POSTS AND DO THE WHOLE JOB FOR $500 WITHIN TWO WEEKS. HE DID THE JOB AS PROMISED, PLUS FIXED UP A FEW OTHER THINGS ON THE FENCE AT NO EXTRA CHARGE. I COULD NOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE WITH IDEAL FENCE CO. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. NEXT TIME I NEED FENCE WORK DONE, I AM NOT EVEN GOING TO BOTHER GETTING QUOTES. IDEAL FENCE HAS A LIFE-TIME CUSTOMER IN ME.

I FIRST CALLED IN MAY 2005 TO HAVE A GATE INSTALLED IN A FENCE. I TOLD THEM I NEEDED IT DONE BY JULY 1, AND WAS ASSURED IT COULD BE DONE BY THEN, AND IT WAS POSSIBLE THAT IT COULD BE DONE WITHIN 2 WEEKS SO I SHOULD BE SURE TO MARK WHERE I WANTED THE GATE. OVER THE NEXT 2 MONTHS I CALLED REPEATEDLY. EVERY TIME I CALLED, THE PERSON WHO ANSWERED THE PHONE SAID I MUST HAVE TALKED TO THE OTHER GUY (SOUNDED LIKE THE PHONE RANG IN THE PERSON'S HOUSE NOT AN OFFICE. YOUNG CHILDREN CRYING IN THE BACKGROUND.), AND HE WOULD CHECK, WAS SURE IT WAS ON THE LIST BUT THEY WERE VERY BUSY. COULDN'T COMMIT TO WHEN IT WOULD BE DONE. I FINALLY GAVE UP IN AUGUST. DON'T CALL THESE PEOPLE IF YOU WANT A PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIVE EXPERIENCE.

GREAT EXPERIENCE WITH ED. HE CAME PROMPTLY FOR OUR APPOINTMENT FOR AN ESTIMATE, ONLY GAVE US MORE EXPENSIVE OPTIONS WHEN PRESSED, AND DID THE WORK WHEN AND AS PROMISED. THE NEW FENCE LOOKS GREAT, AND WAS EXACTLY WHAT WE REQUESTED. WE PLAN ON USING IDEAL AGAIN FOR MORE FENCE WORK IN OUR BACKYARD. ONE COMMENT: OVERALL WE THOUGHT THE PRICE WAS FAIR, BUT THOUGHT THE PORTION ALLOCATED TO TAKING OUT OUR OLD FENCE, WHICH WE PROBABLY COULD HAVE DONE OURSELVES, WAS HIGH (ALMOST 1/3 THE TOTAL COST OF THE JOB).

THE FENCE IS BEAUTIFUL, AND THE PRICE SEEMS REASONABLE FOR THE WORK. BUT THE PROCESS WAS A LONG AND ARDUOUS ONE--STARTED IN SUMMER AND THE FENCE WAS FINALLY FINISHED THE FOLLOWING MAY. HAD TROUBLE GETTING PHONE CALLS RETURNED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, AND FREQUENTLY THE PROMISED DEADLINES SLIPPED. (WINTER INTERVENED THEN.) WHEN THE FENCE WAS INSTALLED, ONE PART OF IT (NEAR THE TREE) WAS NOT MOVED AS PROMISED, AND HAD TO BE REDONE. THEN IT WAS NOT REDONE CORRECTLY AND HAD TO BE DONE A SECOND TIME. MARK, OUR CONTACT, CHEERFULLY VOLUNTEERED TO HAVE THESE CORRECTIONS MADE, BUT IT WAS VERY FRUSTRATING TO HAVE TO WAIT SO LONG. THINKING BACK ON IT I SHOULD HAVE INSISTED ON MORE DETAILS ON THE QUOTE, ESPECIALLY SINCE SO MUCH TIME ELAPSED BETWEEN THE QUOTE AND THE INSTALLATION.

I WENT WITH ANOTHER FENCING COMPANY, BUT IT WAS A TOSS-UP BETWEEN THEM AND IDEAL. THEY WERE VERY RESPONSIVE WHEN I CALLED, AND CAME OUT TO LOOK AT THE JOB AT THE APPOINTED TIME. I HAD A POSITIVE IMPRESSION OF THIS COMPANY.

INSTALLATION COMPLETED, BUT A FEW PROBLEMS OCCURRED. HAD TO CALL THEM TO RETURN TO FIX HOW IT HUNG SO THAT IT WOULD OPEN PROPERLY. DISCOVERED THAT IT COULD NOT BE LOCKED; THEY CAME TO FIX THAT AND MADE IT SO THAT IT COULD BE LATCHED, BUT NOT LOCKED. GAVE UP AFTER SEVERAL CALLS EXPLAINING THAT THE INSTALLATION NEEDED TO BE ADJUSTED SO THAT I COULD US A PADLOCK TO LOCK IT, NOT JUST CLOSE IT. THEY WERE ALWAYS COURTEOUS, BUT IT WAS HARD TO REACH THE ACTUAL PERSON RESPONSIBLE AS HE ALWAYS HAD TO CALL ME BACK, RESULTING IN TELEPHONE TAG.

RESPONDED QUICKLY TO REQUEST FOR ESTIMATE.

TWO WORKERS WERE ON TIME, COURTEOUS, AND PROVIDED EXPLANATIONS. CLEAN UP WAS EXCELLENT.

EDDY CAME PROMPTLY TO INSPECT THE NEEDED REPAIR, LEFT A DESCRIPTION AND ESITMATE IN MY MAILBOX, AND LATER WHEN CONDITIONS PERMITTED (I.E., GROUND THAWED), HE CALLED ME AND SAID HE WOULD DO IT SOON, THEN HE DID. GOOD MATCH OF NEW WORK WITH EXISTING FENCE.

THEY COMPLETED THE WORK MORE QUICKLY THAN WE EVER WOULD HAVE EXPECTED (1 DAY), AND DID EXCELLENT WORK. THEY WERE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE PLANTS OR ANYTHING ELSE, AND CLEANED EVERYTHING UP PERFECTLY.

HE WAS ON TIME AND VERY HONEST. HE GAVE ME OTHER OPTIONS WHICH COULD SAVE ME MONEY BUT DIDN'T TRY TO STEER ME IN THE WRONG DIRECTION. HE WAS VERY STRAIGHT FORWARD AND GAVE ME GREAT SUGGESTIONS AND EXPLAINED ALL OF MY OPTIONS CLEARLY.

THEY DID A GOOD JOB AT APPROXIMATELY HALF THE COST QUOTED TO ME BY ANOTHER COMPANY. THEY CAME ON TIME, AND DID A NICE JOB OF WORKING AROUND THE HALF-BUILT FENCE MY NEIGHBOR HAD STARTED TO ERECT AND THEN GIVEN UP ON.
