So I found Roman (the owner) through a friend. He has his shop in an old Midas building. I never gave it a consideration; from the outside it looks terrible. I thought the building was abandoned at one point. Don't judge a book by its cover they say; this is certainly the case.
My friend doesn't like or trust ANYONE and brought his truck for repair here once. He was pleasantly surprised and Roman made a convert out of him. Another mutual friend was going to dispose of his old Nissan; but Roman tuned it up and he ran that car for two more years. So with this endorsement (and some good ones online); I brought my car to him.
A little background; I spoke to Roman many times now. He is from Hong Kong and was a Formula 3 Racing mechanic for many years. He showed me pictures of him training at Honda and Toyota in Japan when he was young. He knows his stuff. That said; his English is not the best; so that is a downside. I find it completely overcomable.
At first I got a tuned up and told him about a rattle. I've told the Honda dealer about this rattle many times; and they were stumped. Roman identified it and clamped down the offending hose; and my car never ran better.
My wife's car has gone in there as well. Hers is new; so he has just done the regular services.
Since Roman doesn't have parts on hands; he has a delivery service. Contrary to the other review; these are factory parts. I've seen them be delivered. When he did my Honda; he went out and ordered Honda transmission fluid. Today he was replacing my rotors; he ordered them from a Honda dealership.
That said; the parts don't come cheap. He is still cheaper than the dealer but not terribly so. The work is far better though.
Also; since the parts get delivered; his turnaround time is a little slower than some other places. You should always expect to leave your car. Also; when he goes on vacation; the shop shuts down.
So I like him. I actually go way out of my way to use him. I want my cars to run well. He is a diamond in the rough.

I spent about $300 on that service and it went very well. They are highly skilled and personal. The proprietor took time to listen to me and when there was a noise to understand and he arranged to go with me on a test drive to listen. The day after the job was done they called to make sure that the repair was satisfactory. It is a really good place.

As always, Roman Cheung does an excellent job from beginning to end. He listens well, performs a thorough diagnosis (drawing, of course, on his own extensive experience), checks back before doing the work, and of course provides fine quality repairs with good materials in the promised time. For something out of the ordinary, he'll check back the following week to make sure everything is going well. We've been using Roman for several cars for many years. Here is a letter I wrote in 2003. A muffler chain operation wanted $900 to replace my muffler on an old Honda CRV. Roman did it the same day for about a hundred bucks. He came highly recommended by friends and has many letters of glowing praise from customers. Only works on Japanese cars.
