Start to finish a good experience. We knew going it what to expect for costing and everyone looking at a metal roof should expect high costs. The lead time to do the work was long but that expectation was clearly set during the contract negotiations and they were within 2 weeks of that date. Jennifer was a big help keeping me informed of scheduling and always responded within a day of any message left, if I didn't get her live on the phone. The crew was really good (Sergi, Dimitry and the guys) and worked 9-5 without missing a beat after a long daily commute to get to our house.. Considering all the nails, shingles and small metal pieces associated with this installation my yard was spotless. Even after they completed my walk around yielded about a dozen small pieces buried under leaves and to be expected.. Very pleased with that.. So far we're very happy with the experience. The roof looks amazing and we cannot wait for the snow to arrive. I'll do an update once we go through a winter cycle here in MA.
Description of Work: removed 2 layers of shingles, replaced some damaged plywood after removal, complete roof coverage with ice & water barrier along with a 2nd protective layer then the metal roofing. We had a good sized roof, about 2800 sq. feet with alot of angles and dormers.

Well, we had 2 leaks after the installation. One at the ridge line and one over the kitchen. The kitchen leak is the most recent, occurring about a month ago. 3 phone calls to Interlock "Customer Service" and we're still waiting for someone to even come look at the roof, let alone repair it. Their "customer service" is absolutely terrible. If I had it to do all over again I certainly wouldn't have had them put in the roof. They're one of the worst organizations I've ever dealt with. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE.
Description of Work: The roof is great. Installation seemed to go OK.

After contacted by [Member Name Removed], our service team promptly returned his call and left multiple messages. An appointment was made for Dec 15 since poor weather conditions did not allow us to be at his house sooner. We identified the leak source to be the solar tube (which is not an Interlock product and was already installed before our product was added in 2011). Our installer serviced the flashings around it, fully resolving the issue. We appreciate the customer recognizing the quality our product (that he rated B) and will continue working to improve our responsiveness and customer support. The Interlock® Roofing System comes with a lifetime limited product warranty.

Interlock Metal Roof Systems--Horrible Customer Service Pros: Metal Roofs Are Beautiful Life Time Warranty (great in theory) Cons: Horrible Customer Service High Maintenance Functionality?multiple problems within small time period Monopoly on service/materials Interlock Metal Roof System?s customer service is amongst the worst I have encountered. Metal roofs can be beautiful and last a very long time. Be very careful, however, before paying two to three times more than you would for an asphalt roof. You cannot simply slap a metal roof on your house and enjoy it for the next 75 years. Like most things, it requires maintenance. My experiences with Interlock to date suggest that they are woefully incapable of providing even a modicum of customer service. Merely thinking of the prospect of dealing with this approach for the next couple of decades makes my stomach turn and head hurt. About a year ago, we purchased a home with a pre-existing metal Interlock Roof. There were signs of significant ceiling leakage in the living room, but we were assured that the problem had been corrected. So we presumed that we would simply have to fix this damage and obtain some periodic maintenance down the line. A couple of months after moving in, however, the living room ceiling was leaking once more. We broke out the buckets and contacted Interlock in the beginning of July. After contacting Interlock?s national call center, we eventually received a call back from the Walpole Interlock Branch a number of days later. Initially, they seemed willing and able to help. A couple of weeks passed and we heard nothing back from Interlock. We were scheduled to go on vacation in the middle of August so I called the Walpole Office to ask if we could get someone to come to our house and assess the leaky roof before we left. We were told that they would try to make that happen. We ended up departing for vacation having heard nothing back from Interlock. A couple of days after returning from vacation we unexpectedly had an Interlock employee arrive at our doorstep out of the blue. Thankfully, we were home and able to explain our problem to him as he seemed relatively clueless as to what was going on. He spent a couple of hours on the roof diagnosing the problem and applying a stop-gap fix. He then charged us $379 dollars and told us that our skylights needed to be replaced. Knowing full well by now that Interlock was relatively unresponsive and seemingly disorganized to boot, we immediately asked what we could do to schedule the necessary repairs as soon as possible. The repairman told us to call the Walpole office, which we did immediately. We mailed Interlock a check for $1504.50 or 50% of the amount we were quoted for the repairs (another $3009 which simply covers installation and does not include the cost of the skylights themselves). Interlock cashed this check on August 28th. Weeks passed and we heard nothing from Interlock. After several calls attempting to plod things along, I asked what I could do to expedite the process. I was told that I could order the skylights myself. Given how slow Interlock moves, I was happy to have a task that I could personally fast-track. Interlock provided me the key specs related to the skylights. I contacted Veluxe to order the necessary skylights. Long story short, I was told that they did not make the sort of skylight I had been instructed to ask for. After a couple of confusing weeks of back and forth, it turned out that the Interlock manager I had spoken with about the skylights did not understand how to effectively communicate what sort of skylight was in fact needed. After a great deal of unnecessary churn and burn, I was finally able to have the proper (I hope/trust) skylights delivered on September 23rd. I eagerly contacted Interlock to schedule a time to have the skylights installed. The Walpole Office?s Administrative Assistant informed me she would speak with her boss and get something set up and that she would contact me within a week. A week came and went and I had heard nothing back. I called and emailed Interlock numerous times over the course of the next 6 weeks. I never had anyone to reach out to me or keep me apprised of when we might have an actual appointment scheduled. Throughout this entire time I was only able to speak with management on one occasions. He was argumentative and arrogant. He was more intent on justifying the ongoing ineptitude than he was taking care of the issue at hand. Often times, I would be routed to a national call center so that John Doe could take a message. Apparently, the Walpole Interlock Office does not have an operable answering machine and answering phones during business hours is optional. In the middle of October the situation worsened. We had tradesmen who were renovating our bathroom inform us that the roof above the bedroom was leaking into the attic crawl space. In addition, sections of the exterior fascia boards were rotting out. I contacted the Walpole Interlock Office to notify them of these new issues and to explain that all of the work we had planned for the living room had been on pause for four months because we did not want to start any improvements to the interior until we could ensure that the roof would be dry and tight (competence is thankfully not all that uncommon as several other home improvement organizations that we had been working with throughout this same period worked were prompt, courteous, and reasonably priced (which stands in stark contrast to Interlock). I was told the same old refrain that she would speak to her boss and more of the same. Two weeks have passed and I have not heard back regarding anything. After a great number of phone calls and emails, I finally decided to contact the national head quarters and see if there might be another means of fixing the problem (Perhaps another Interlock branch is more professional and competent?). Unsurprisingly, I have yet to hear back. This entire experience has been extremely frustrating. No one else appears able to fix Interlock products. If anyone else conducts any repairs on the roof the warranty is null and void (although I am starting to wonder what good a warranty is that hasn?t covered any costs to date especially when you cant get any work to occur to begin with). Even if you could find someone else who was willing and able to fix the Interlock product, they would be hard pressed to do so because Interlock does not appear to provide their materials to any other vendor and seems have created a product that requires special, home grown training fix. In other words, Interlock has their customers right where they want them. If a mechanic, plumber, landscaper or any other service provider acted as Interlock has over the past four months they would have been replaced within a week. If you are thinking of installing an Interlock roof I advise you to reconsider. Ours has had more issues in the past 6 months than all of the roofs I have lived under for the past 40 years combined and as I have tried to make clear throughout this review dealing with these issues has been extremely frustrating. If you already have an Interlock roof, good luck.

Our customer support team visited the customer to inspect the roof and identify the leak source as being the skylight (not one of our products). Part of the delay on this project was due to the time the customer needed to purchase and receive replacement parts (as they were not manufactured or carried by Interlock). The weather also did hold back the job, with several consecutive days of rain. We communicated with the customer via email and phone call throughout that period. Repairs were completed on Saturday November 15th. The roof was originally installed in 2000, and [member name removed] is the 2nd owner of that house, benefiting from our 50-year transferable product warranty. We appreciate [member name removed]'s contact and feedback and are happy that the issue was fully resolved.

I contacted this company for a quote on my residential home roof. After being interviewed by phone on type, size, pitch of my house (which is fine), I was told that they would not come for a quote unless if guaranteed both me and my husband were here. I told her its not possible, my husband travels a lot for work. They told me its their company policy NOT TO COME OUT for a quote unless BOTH of us are here (translation, my husband). I am sure if it was my husband calling and the one setting up the appt, they would have been fine with that. But a woman... jeez we can't do anything, understand anything or make important decisions (sarcasm!).Quite honestly listening to a high-pressured sales speech to BOTH of us, is a waste of time (brings back memories of buying a new car- total waste of time) is not a sign of a company wanting to work with you and that values your time. We live 10 mins from this place, really, you couldn't just send someone out for a quote.

Hello [Member Name], Firstly, please allow me to bring out that this is absolutely not the belief, posture or procedure of the Interlock Group. We have been working for a long time with homeowners across the US and Canada. We care about helping customers making a good decision. As this is a big investment, we do encourage our sales appointments to be made with all decision makers, as there are many questions that need to be answered. Different stakeholders have different questions, considerations and concerns. We have found it is best to address these questions in person with all concerned. We will review the training with our customer service reps to prevent such misunderstandings. All the best, Carlos

A rep for the company came and gave the installation and sale details. They arrived a week after I contracted them. It was February so they could start right away. The roofers were excellent and answered all questions as they went along. They discovered major rot under one side of the home, took pictures to show the damage and then explained how they would repair the damage. The repair was excellent. They removed all debris without a single asphalt piece or nail surrounding the home. The roof looks great and I feel pleased that I will not have to think too much about replacing a roof again in my lifetime!
Description of Work: Metal roof installation. They did a good job considering the house is very old with few level surfaces. They have not completed the job as I'm having the porch torn down and they will return to finish that part of the home. Igor and Serge are very professional and skilled roofers. The company was very responsive to questions and issues. I would recommend this company to install a metal roof that will last at least 50 years.

This has been headache. When the crew came out, only one of them spoke English. When they finished they got me to sign off on it but they never inspected it. I saw materials on the roof and thought that something was coming loose so I called them. Now to their credit they did send someone right on out but when he inspected it he realized that they had failed to lock down 30 or 40 tiles. They did come out and fix those but again did no inspection. They expect the home owner to climb on the roof to do your own inspection. After they finished I started having problems with my gutters and called a repair man out for that, it turns out that my gutters were cluttered with asphalt debris because the roofers didn't do a proper clean up. Now I'm having problems with ice build up on the new roof, this has just been a headache.

Our involvement with this company was disappointing from the outset. We contacted several metal roof vendors to gather quotes to replace our asphalt shingle roof. In our initial phone discussions with Interlock Industries we found the salesman to be very "old school" and somewhat insulting. We scheduled a time for him to come to the house to provide us with an estimate. He arrived on time dressed in slacks and a shirt (we expected someone in work clothes who would be able to get up on the roof to measure etc.) He spent over half an hour walking around the house and then came inside for the meeting. He brought many "props" including a board with many samples (of which many were not metal -- which is why he was there.) He had trouble running his presentation on his laptop -- didn't have a basic command of how to run a presentation. He also had a three ring binder with information and pictures which he kept referring to. We had many questions for him, most of which he was unable to answer. We definitely knew more about metal roofs and their installation than the salesman did. He became flustered when we asked questions and made him go off his script. He expected to come in and give his standard speech with no questions. There were two of us at the meeting and he spoke to only one of us -- completely ignoring the other one of us! When he was done with his presentation he pulled out a notepad and started scribbling notes (hiding the paper from us like he was taking a test in grade school.) Finally he presented us with a cost to replace the roof -- an estimate that was 50%-75% higher than all the other estimates we had received to date. His estimate did not include removing the old asphalt shingle, so we requested that he redo the estimate to include that -- and also indicated that his estimate was way out of the ballpark. The salesman argued with us, insisting that it was unnecessary to remove the old asphalt shingle roof. It is standard practice to remove the old roof. If left in place the shingle roof would show under the metal. Additionally, without removing the old shingles it would be impossible to tell if the plywood underlayment was compromised and might need replacing. His revised estimate, with the addition of removing the old roof, was suddenly much lower than the initial estimate -- leading us to believe that the number was completely erroneous. He went on further to tell us that if we signed right then he would be able to reduce the cost even more and that if we didn't he couldn't guarantee the price. During the meeting the salesman relayed a story of how he used to work trade shows for the company, but no longer does because they now have a team to do that, "but they really don't know what they are talking about." We should have escorted him to the door at that point. Needless to say we were uncomfortable signing on the spot and asked for a written estimate. He was flabbergasted by this request and said that he would provide a written estimate when we were ready to sign. We insisted on an estimate so he hand wrote the estimate (in pencil) on a yellow legal pad in somewhat incoherent language. When the meeting was over he gathered his samples and props. He also started to gather the marketing information that he had given us to read. When we asked if we could keep the marketing brochure and materials he said "No!" and that he would give them to us with a contract when we agreed to sign and engage Interlock to replace our roof. This was, hands down, the most UNPROFESSIONAL and UNETHICAL encounter we have ever had with a vendor. I would NEVER do business with this organization again and would advise anyone considering working with them to run screaming. 2012 UPDATE: Almost a year after we had another vendor (Classic Metal Roof) installed our standing seam roof a sales rep from Interloc showed up at our doorstep unannounced on a Sunday morning! He was "in the area" and wanted to stop by because he had seen our review on Angie's list. He wasted my time talking about inane things, culminating in a request to photograph our house -- to which I sent him packing. My opinion of this company remains unfavorable and I thing showing up unannounced on a Sunday morning -- a full year after the initial contact is COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL. It's unclear to me what this sales rep hoped to gain by stopping by.
Description of Work: We received an estimate from this company to replace our asphalt shingle roof with a standing seam metal roof, but ultimately chose to go with another, more qualified vendor.

While I still believe they have a superior product, I decided not to go with them because of the sales experience and the deception with their "lifetime transferable warrantee". The salesman was very pleasant in the beginning, but tended to avoid talking any straight forward price. Just kept to the sales pitch and avoided the question. Had to pressure him to give a price and provide the enough details about the price to determine if it was "fair". He would do some magical calculating that I could tell was based more on what he thought we were willing to spend instead of what it would cost to actually put the roof on the house. When we finally did get a price out of him, it was 3 times what a traditional roof would cost. I was expecting maybe twice, but not three times. He tried to play some games of "discount for an area show home" or "looking for extra marketing funds to reduce costs", but nothing really made me feel that the price was going down to the basic range we were willing to spend. Then the "lifetime transferable warrantee" should have the transferable part removed. When the sales person was pressed to explain the warantee before I was able to read it myself, he avoided giving a clear explanation nor did he have a copy in his materials. Either he didn't understand it, or didn't want to expose the limitations. After reading the warrantee online, it is lifetime for the original owner and might be worth it if one was to stay in the home for the rest of their lifetime, but the transferable part is where the joke comes in. The material is the only transferable part. With the high quality materials of their roof, the materials likely would be perhaps 10-20% of any repair costs. So actually, it is pretty much useless to the subsequent owner(s). In the end, we were disappointed with the experience and decided to go the traditional asphalt roof direction.
Description of Work: We wanted an alternative solution to roofing that is a bit more longer lasting. Knew that Interlock has been in the industry for a while and thus likely would be around in the future. Started interactions with the company to get a quote.

Their product is excellent, but it causes the installation process to be longer than usual. I think it may double the installation time compared to other materials, but Interlock is very upfront about this. The roof can come with a 50yr warranty, which I purchased. This is the first time I ever run into this sort of situation. Where a company/contractor would not provide a quote unless both parties were present. Reminds me of "Time Share" were they try and pressure on of the parties. Will not do business with anyone that has this model.
Description of Work: No Service was ever perfomed. They called the day before they were schedule to come out to the house and cancelled because my wife could not be there.

Hi (member name removed), Please don’t take it personally. Sorry that the meeting was cancelled and you haven’t had the chance to learn more about the product and installation services. As this is a big investment, we do encourage our sales appointments to be made with all decision makers, as there are many questions that need to be answered. Different stakeholders have different questions, considerations and concerns. We have found it is best to address these questions in person with all concerned. Whenever you want to hear from other proud homeowners, please join our Interlock Roofing Facebook page - they can share with you how it is to live under one of the Interlock Metal Roofs. Cheers, Carlos

Things were going along ok for a while, but he stayed far too long, didn't give me a written estimate, and I had to actually tell him to leave my house more than once to get him to leave. He tried a very hard sell on me, which was a drag, and wasn't buying my "I'm not ready to make a decision tonight" answer. Seriously, who makes a decision on a $75k job without sleeping on it? Product seems like it could be good, but I don't think I'll be buying it from this company (they make and sell the roof). I was expecting someone to give me an estimate, not spend 3 hours at my house trying to make a commission. Maybe it would be a good night to watch TIN MEN.

I had high hopes for this company, like the look of the product and believe it is probably a long-lasting roof. However the salesman really let us down. He did not perform any close-up inspection of the existing roof (arrived in a dress shirt and slacks!), did not get on the roof to look at the skylights or check out the flashing, and hand-waved the portion of the estimate that referred to skylight installation. "$400" he said. I said "Is that just for the skylight, or does it include installation labor?" "Same difference." We could not trust that there would not be unexpected charges later on, since we were never shown a breakdown of the estimate (parts, labor, size of roof, skylights, etc). In fact, when he left, he took the estimate with him, and when I called to follow up later in the week, he seemed very surprised to hear from me. He could not answer our questions about the Energy Star data for the roof material and seemed surprised that we asked, but promised to get that data at the office and email it to us. He also promised to send the addresses of a few local homes with the specific vents we were considering, and did follow up on that promptly, but forgot all about the energy data. (Fortunately that's available from the government.) However, when he emailed us the info I almost deleted it, thinking it was spam, since it came from an unsavory personal email address rather than a professional email account. The biggest disappointment was that he tried to pressure us into signing a contract right then and there (offered discount), when we had not had a chance to get the energy data or see the vents, have a phone conversation with the contractor who actually INSTALLS the roof, or even think it over for 24 hours. He might have been dressed "professionally" but trying to strong-arm a customer into signing a $30K contract is about as unprofessional as it gets. Sorry, Interlock -- nice roof -- but very poor approach to building customer confidence.

We met the Interlocking salesman at the CT Home Show. We looked at samples and pictures of finished roofs there. We made an appointment for an estimate. The salesman arrived on time, took the measurements and gave us an estimate. He had a folder full of testimonials and information about why the metal roof is superior to an asphalt roof. They do supply financing, if necessary. The roofers who did the installation were very polite and responsive. They cleaned up after themselves on a daily basis. We have 7 skylights on our house, so the job took longer than the job estimate, but the workers were very careful about installing it correctly rather than rushing to get the job finished. We had made other appointments with standard asphalt roofers. Either they didn't show for the appointment, or the estimate was never sent after the appointment.
Description of Work: Quoted and installed a metal roof consisting of interlocking tiles.

They tell you it's a fifty year warranty, but they don't let you see the warranty until after the work is complete and you can't see that it's only a ten year warranty, and the price is $50,000. I did have trouble getting direct information about the work from the company.
Description of Work: I called them and they came out and gave an estimate. We were interested because metal roofs are more environmental. They said we qualified for a special program. the cost of the roof was much more than an asphalt roof. After reading over the contract, I found that the warranty was for only ten years on the labor. I was removed from the contract after the contacting the company.

Hello (member name removed), We have a complete explanation of our warranty policies available on our website. You are welcome to check it out: http://www.interlockroofing.com/roof-protection The cost of the product is higher than traditional asphalt composition because it is way more durable, resistant and energy efficient. As you mentioned, metal roofing is also sustainable. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Carlos

They did a fabulous job. I have noticed a decrease in my oil consumption in the winter and my house is cooler by 10 degrees in the summer. I didn't even put in my room air conditioners this summer. None of them spoke English, but they always had one person to communicate with me. They have a 50 year guarantee on the roof, but said that it will likely last 100 years. I had to call them back when I had an addition put on my house so as to not void the warranty on my roof, and they wonderful.

[Member name removed], You brought us a great point. Our metal roofs are very energy efficient, helping to control your home temperature. Over time, the roof helps to pay for itself as you start saving on heating and/or air-conditioning bills. It is also good for the environment! Please reach out whenever you need. Thanks for your comments and ratings

It is a metal roof and snow guards to prevent ice dams to build up. They also installed rubber roof over the back porch. The materials for the metal roof and rubber roofing are excellent. I was impressed with the sales representative, project manager, and installers professional skills. They were very hard-working, knowledgeable, diligent, polite, and were very accommodating to my needs. The installers worked long hours to complete the roof even with a few days of bad weather. They never interfered with my schedule, they cleaned every night, and they worked late even with the shorter days. The cost was more expensive than the estimate but in the long run, it was a wise decision and worth the investment for a roof that is beautiful with a lifetime limited warranty as long as you own the house. The warranty is transferable to the new owner if you sell your house.
Description of Work: My house was built in 1890 and the previous roof was 50 to 60 years old. Upon installation, the installers discovered old, crumbling, rotting wood (from age not termites) and two layers of shingles. It was an additional cost to remove the shingles and to remove the old rotting wood, which was replaced. It was worth the cost because eventually it could have been more expensive later to repair the roof/rafters caving in from the old rotting wood, wind, rain or snow.
