I was always satisfied. It was not an easy place to get to from Cambridgeport. One time I stood at the bus stop for about an hour in the freezing cold to go pick up my car (pre Uber and cell phones). Mike was there, although not in the best frame of mind. I don't use them anymore due to the fact that I have a newer car and have been going to the dealer, at a much more convenient location.

As always, the team at Mike's was professional, courteous and thorough. We have been bringing our automobiles to them for years and have never had a complaint. They stand behind their work!

How did it go overall? Tell us the story from start to finish (10,000 character limit): I've happily used Mike's Automotive Services many times over the years but had returned to using the dealer after purchasing a new car a couple of years ago. When I nicked the two driver-side tires on a curb on 6/16/16, the service department at the car dealer said they couldn't see me until after July 5th. I then called Mike and he said to bring my car in the next morning. After dealing with the tires, Mike asked if I wanted to have him do the 30K service maintenance the same day to save me a trip back in a few months. I had planned to go back to the dealer for that service in October and have the break pads replaced then but decided to go ahead and save myself the additional trip and have Mike do the work. When the Tire Pressure Monitoring System alert lit up on my car dash board 10 days later, I took the car back to Mike's the next morning without calling for an appointment first. I was willing to wait and Mike fit me in, found a screw embedded in one of the new tires he'd installed 10 days earlier, called his warehouse, and was able to install another brand new tire at no charge. I said that I wanted to pay for the labor but he wouldn't accept my payment. I know that I can always trust Mike's Automotive Services -- they work with me to find the best solution, are mindful about expenses, and more importantly, are responsive to safety issues. I'm grateful and feel fortunate to have such an honest, trustworthy, customer service-oriented provider in the neighborhood.

I arrived on time. The mechanic was expecting me and took in the car immediately. I waited in a comfortable lobby. After about half and hour the work was done. Painless process.

The owner was very nice but his establishment was too far from where I lived to make the trip but I had no problem with communication or anything else.

They quoted me a price just under $600 (only the 2 front) . I thought that was high, so I went somewhere else. The other mechanic concluded that I needed new pads and rotors on all four tires. The quote was $580 for parts, labor, everything (front and back).

I thought Mike did an extremely thorough, skilled, and extremely efficient job repairing my car. Though I brought my vehicle in mostly for an issue I was having with the guages on my dash (speedometer, odometer, gas meter, hot/cold meter -- all of them were going off an on at random), he detected some other issues that I knew were going on, but didn't really want to face up to. He was super great about it though, gave me reasonable estimates before he did anything, and now my car drives so much better. As a single woman who doesn't know a ton about cars, I didn't feel that Mike was trying to take advantage of me in any way. I would definitely recommend his service to anyone, and I will look forward to using him in the future.

It went very well! It's only been a couple of days, but I haven't had any issues with the car so far. They had a great number of positive reviews. I had called a couple of other companies as well, but they were by far the most responsive and I just felt comfortable using them. I just moved to the area, so they are going to be my mechanic moving forward! I had to leave the car overnight for the repairs and he personally drove me to the subway station so that I could get back into Boston which I felt was above and beyond the call of duty.

I was really happy with what they did. They had the car for about 2 days. I have an imported car now, but I'd definitely recommend them!

Mike is honest and capable. They never try to sell you things that you don't need. If it is an emergency they try to accommodate. The waitng room in clean with snacks and coffee. Mike is a terrific guy. I have been using them for over two years and expect that my car is going to last for a very long time. I

Had to rent a car (which they subsidize) but needed it for three days because his vendor gave him the wrong tires. Basically, a one day job took three days.

Very professional response, didn't try to rush me when explaining the problem, took a great deal of time explaining what he did, and why, gave an estimate prior to my leaving the car, and said he thought he'd get the repair done by the next day. However, the radiator didn't come in until late in the day, so it was ready Saturday morning, a day on which he said he usually doesn't work. He even offered to drive over to get me! Apparently the replacement took longer than anticipated, but he said he'd honor the estimated price quoted. I already knew it was not the thermostat, so I'm pleased overall. The car has never needed a repair, except for replacement of a window switch. Very impressed with the knowledge and professionalism of this family owned business. Do I wish it cost less? Sure. But I'm convinced I got good value, and now I have heat within about 3 minutes of driving a cold car.

He diagnosed it, wasn't high pressure. Told us what we needed, seemed knowledgable. It was great and we would go back to him. We did everything over the phone, we picked up the car after hours. Wasn't stressful and was a positive experience.

I’ve used them for years for everything and they are phenomenal.

The new battery is a special, deep-cycle battery by Optima, known as the Yellow-Top battery. The size of the battery was a bit different than the regular battery being replaced but the guys made the mounting hardware accommodate the new battery. They also installed the lead for quickly connecting a trickle charger to the system when necessary. As mentioned above, the audio system is a heavy draw on the battery, even when the car is off, so I was having trouble starting the car if it sat in the driveway for a few days. Fixing the audio system would be more money than the car is worth, so this approach is the best for now.

Our experience there has always been very positive. They’re timely and professional. They’re very communicative 1.42. They are not the cheapest but our family values the customer service aspect. We have found 2.05 to 2.06 the one where we go back to pretty exclusively. We have no idea how much we spent on their services but we spent a lot of money with them. They are expensive. They have a very clean waiting room. The staff is professional and cordial. Mike himself is an exceptional businessman and offers great customer service.

They are great. They are very thorough about examining the car and they give you a good assessment of what needs to be done now, what you can wait on and whether it's worth fixing something on the car or not.

I came in 2 days before Thanksgiving for an oil change and to check out a brake problem, because we were about to take a 1000+ mile trip. I came in around 1pm, and Mike Jr. diagnosed the problem but then took the car out for a test drive to make sure of what he had thought. Mike Sr. gave me the assessment around 2pm and asked if I could bring it back and leave it for a whole day. I explained that we had the trip coming up and asked if there was any way that it could be done that afternoon. He said they may have to stay late, but they would get it done. Mike Jr. and Mike Sr. stayed late that night to fix everything, so I could pick it up the next morning. Mike Jr. ended up spending a long time in traffic to get home because he stayed late, but it was a lifesaver for us. We'll be back.

I have an 11 yr old Volvo that kept overheating. Although I love my car (bought new), I thought the end was near and started looking at new cars. Hoping that the issue may just be hoses, I researched auto service providers on Angie's List, and selected Mike's. I was supposed to drop my car off on Sunday night, but couldn't get a ride. I called on Monday to see if I could drop the car off Monday night instead and spoke with Mike Sr who couldn't have been more accommodating. After diagnosing the problem on Tuesday, Mike Sr. called to say my water pump needed to be replaced and while in the area, the timing belt should also be replaced in addition to replacing the thermostat. This was going to be over $1,000 so I was hesitant on putting a lot of money into an 11 yr old car. Mike Sr. said he would look the entire car over to see if there were any other major issues going on that would require a fix so that I could make an informed decision. I wasn't eager to have car payments again and took Mike Sr. up on the offer. The exhaust needed to be replaced but Mike Sr. stated that my car was in great condition and was a solid automobile. I ended up going with the repairs and the car drives as if I just picked it up off the dealer's lot! I love driving my car again.

Mike's Automotive in Somerville will be the only place I bring my cars for service from now on. It's great to find an honest Auto Technician who will communicate to you exactly the work that needs to be performed and deliver on the estimate in regards to time, cost, and actually accomplishing the task at hand. Mike's first price estimate was fair - even the cost of the tires which he had to acquire since they weren't in stock (he was able to get them in over the weekend!) I dropped my car off in the lot and left the key in the night drop box. Mike called me the next morning reviewed with me what I needed. He then inspected the vehicle - called me to confirm the work that was to be done and sent a detailed email with the cost estimates for me to confirm. Then called me again to let me know that it was ready, ahead of the when it was expected! I picked the ar up on my way home from work. All in-one day. I also find Mike's text alerts useful - you'll actually receive a text message to remind you of a service appt and then again when your car is ready to be picked up. All around great experience - won't go anywhere else.

It seemed like a very clean shop and they gave me a quick response on my car's transmission.

I dropped the car off late in Mike's day on a Saturday. He was able to tell, just from driving my car back into his lot, where the problem probably was located. I got a cell phone call on Monday morning with his analysis and an estimate. I authorized him to proceed. Mike suggested an after-market part for this repair as the Nissan part was incredibly expensive. I got a call on Tuesday that another (relatively minor) part was going to need to be replaced. I gave Mike the go ahead again. After one more check-in and a couple more days, the major repair and a few other smaller items, like an oil change, alignment and tire balancing were completed. I was able to pick the car up after hours using my spare set of keys.

After a jump and having already run the diagnostic, I knew that my battery was dead. No other issues were involved. I was able to locate an aftermarket battery for $160, but I would have to install myself. I called the dealership and they wanted nearly $300. I read the reports and gave Mike's a try. Spoke with Mike on the phone and he said that they would be able to beat the dealership. I swung by the day before my appointment and dropped off a deposit for the part. He and staff were very pleasant. Waiting area was clean and I think that there was a computer with internet for customers as well. There was some initial difficulty in getting the battery (garages must go through toyota for certain parts which can sometimes put them at the dealership's mercy, so really not Mike's fault). I returned once the battery arrived and the install was quick and there were no surprises. I paid for 1/2 hour of labor and the cost of the battery... Worth the traffic of getting there! They provide nice munchies as well.

It was a great exp. The rental car option did not go very well for me. If I had to get to work I'd have been very late.

I went to Mike's Auto for a routine check-up and oil change (do this every five thousand miles). They said I need a transmission flush (about $170). Later on I realized that flushing the transmission is actually not necessary and it's not recommended by Honda.
