1 Star (Would Be 0 If I Could) — Avoid TLC, The Lawn Company at All Costs This is, without exaggeration, the worst experience I’ve ever had with a professional service company. From the very beginning, everything about TLC, The Lawn Company, was disorganized, unprofessional, and disrespectful. Their service, communication, billing practices, and customer support were all consistently unacceptable. Do Not Hire This Company. If you’re considering TLC, The Lawn Company—don’t. Save yourself the stress, time, and financial headache. There are plenty of honest, respectful, and organized lawn care companies out there. TLC is not one of them. I’m sharing this not just out of frustration, but as a warning to others. I will be reporting this experience to the Better Business Bureau and any other platform I can. Businesses like this should not be allowed to operate without consequences.

I’ve been a member for years and it was ok. They have my credit card info and I paid after each service automatically. Then they send me a bill for $79. When I called they insisted it was a missed payment which is impossible because they had my payment information and charged me immediately after the service. I got nowhere trying to fix this and had to cancel my service. Customer support wasn’t there.

Then when I refused to pay their bill for services I did not order, I called them three times to let them know without any response, then received a letter from a collection agency. Awful company with absolutely no customer service. Stay far away

Twinsburg Branch, OH with office in MA I signed up for this service at the end of April. The service I chose from their advertisement was "Full-Season 5-Service Program (8 Payments of $24.08). Lowest Price - Guaranteed, Results - Guaranteed and Unbeatable Service Guaranteed". I paid the first two but the service itself was lousy and after waiting a week from the third application I canceled the service because when I started I had grabgrass, clover and violets. I still have grabgrass, clover and violets. Now I received a letter stating I am over 30 days past due and I owe them $48.54 with no explanation of why I owe it, what wasn't paid. I'm just supposed to pay it. When I called and spoke with a very rude individual who told me the service was really $36.09 and I didn't pay for everything when I only remitted $24.09. It was off by a penny from their advertisement but I wasn't going to squabble for a penny. No where in the signup sheet did it say I was really getting services for $36.09. It the old "bait and switch" and then charge them more for it. Since they did not achieve the above mentioned guarantees (it wasn't the lowest price, $24.08 became $36.09, I still have the weeds I started with and their service is lousy) I shouldn't owe them anything. I've had other services in the past and after the first treatment the weeds were gone and remained gone the entire time along with a beautiful, green lawn. He also left a sheet telling me what he sprayed for and grabgrass was one of them so why do I still have grabgrass. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY!!

I started using TLC this year based on a neighbor's recommendation. I really wanted to like this company, but unfortunately I have been disappointed and I'm not sure I'm willing to give them a second try. 1.) I've been unimpressed with the appearance of my lawn this summer. TLC started the treatments about a month later in the season than most other firms and I feel like we've been "chasing" the weed/crab grass problem all year long. I've been trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but frankly my lawn looked bad much of the summer because the weeds took over. 2.) I signed up for some additional services mid-season. I was not offered the ability to add to the automated payments that were setup for the lawn fertilization. Instead TLC said they would invoice me. One of the two items was completed and the slip left by the tech said "remit NONE". I assumed the invoice would eventually arrive and perhaps they planned to invoice both additional items together. Instead, I received a set of overdue notices a month later with obnoxious language. I promptly emailed, explaining that I never received an invoice and I would be happy to pay upon receipt. They charged me a late fee! The amount wasn't all that much, but I consider this poor customer service. 3.) TLC was supposed to come do aeration and overseeding and I finally had to cancel because they couldn’t get their act together. After bugging them a couple of times for a date, I finally got a week-long window out of them and after jumping through hoops to accommodate that schedule (flagging the sprinklers, rescheduling my lawn mowing, stalling the sprinkler end of year work, etc.) they didn’t show up during the expected window and weren’t the least bit apologetic about it.

I signed up for their 3 treatment plan. This is my first year with them and everything has gone very well so far. The staff has been excellent and the lawn looks the best it has ever been since starting the service. They come regularly as scheduled. I do not have to be home while they do the service and they leave a slip in the door to let us know they have been out.

Decided to give them a try due to having a wild violet problem in my back yard.  They stated that they they have had excellent success at eliminating the wild violets, they stated "we guarantee that we will clear your lawn of them by the end of the season"
1st treatment was the sring treatment and there were no issues, all the dandelions were taken care of, but nothing on the violets, next treatment, still no luck on them, didnt even phase them, called them for weed control treatment for the violets, they came out and it was all BAD they killed a section of my lawn over 300sq ft worth.  the section they killed off was all sod, they killed the most expensive section of my lawn.  still none of the violets were taken care of.  There were several other patches that were also killed off, sort of like they left the weed killer in those spots, or applied extra heavy.
upon calling the office in Massachusettes, they were stunned, or at least acted stunned, i was questioned on what i did wrong, they asked what i used on the lawn, asked if i sprayed chemicals or weed killer?  really, they tried to place the blame on me for them killing my lawn.  so after dicussing the situation they stated they would send out the technician and he appologized and admitted that he put too much on in that area.  Told me there would be no charge for the service but would NOT fix my lawn.  stated that nothing would be able to grow there for a few months anyways.
I immediately cancelled the service, was told that i would not be responsible for the bill.  So i paid it no attention, they came out again after i cancelled thier service, called and asked why would they come out again, they stated it was a mistake and they would cancel my service.
I replanted my lawn with my son using the expensive fenway grass, it took partially but there are still gaps in the lawn do to the chemicals/herbicide/fertilizer they used.
Thinking everything was all set.   Today i get a summons for small claims court sueing me for them killing my lawn, after they told me i owed nothing.  i received no bills or notice since the last treatment that they said was a mistake and no charge.  to make things even worse, they filed in Massachusettes when service was in Connecticut.
So dont belive a word these guys say, dont fall for the cheaper prices, you really do get what you pay for.  There knowledge base is not up to par with other lawn care companies.

They were thieves we did not like the service they provided. We hired them to feed and weed our lawn and they only were feeding it. Now I have a yard full of crab grass and I had to hire someone else to correct my lawn. It cost me almost five thousand dollars to correct the problem. He killed my lawn and I would never use them again in the future.

These people are criminals. They offer a seasonal service for one price, divided over several months during the season. Then they say that for a (much) higher price, the service will include treatments to prevent grubs. The beauty of that service, they claimed, was that if there were grubs, they would repair the lawn. In other words, it was like insurance. Well, first, like the others have claimed, they don't come in a timely manner so the typically lovely lawn got choked with crabgrass. Then, mid summer, there developed an expanding brown patch near the curb. When the technician came, I pointed it out. He looked at it, scratched his head, said it didn't look like grubs to him but he would call in for a "service call" to have someone else at the company look at it. Then he left without doing a treatment because he wanted them to look at it first. Well, about a week later the lawn was worse. We stopped another company working on the street and asked if they thought it was grubs. The guy got down, pulled up a bit of lawn and showed me the little white grubs. Billions of them. I called TLC and told them to cancel us as customers. I had paid for every service up to then.We treated the lawn and had to replant the large section that was destroyed. Then, one day in the early fall, a TLC truck pulls up and says he's here for the regular treatment. I sent him away, called them again and they told me they want $250 plus interest for the grub treatment. THEY NEVER DID A GRUB TREATMENT!!!!! I didn't pay it. They reported me to the credit bureau. I will pay it but I am trashing them here, on Angie's list, and I am going to take them to small claims court. These people are criminals, liars, incompetent and destructive.
