They are good, but they are not great. They did the work that needed to be done, and took care of the issues that needed to be done but struggled some with follow through.

Seems like this vendor should not have A grade. Either this vendor or Angies list rating system has issues. If they cannot get a quote to you, how will they handle a project...
Response from Cooling Unlimited Inc
"I have looked into your concern and I am confused by your comments. Our records show that you were called on 6/26/2013 and scheduled for an estimate for 7/9/2013. Charlie was the person who came out and did an assessment for you and I have him sending out the estimate to you on 7/10/2013. I apologize for any miscommunication or confusion with this."

They originally told me it was going to be $129.00 and mislead me with a higher service charge.  All did was fix the thermostat which took two second.  Now they just put me on hold for half an hour and their office workers are unruly and surly and wont let me talk with the owner.

It went from bad simply to worst....
1. The appointment was scheduled for 8am on 6/11 a few weeks ago. At 8:15am I phoned the office and Marie said she hadn't booked it but would look it up (she sounded a bit rattled). After a few minutes she told me the Tech was caught in Tunnel traffic and would be there soon.
2. The Tech arrived at 8:45 am and didn't apologize or say anything about his lateness . Additionally he took a neighbor's deeded parking spot and when I explained that to him (in an effort to offer alternate parking) he shrugged and said they could call the Property Office if they needed to park there. We were off to a GREAT start!!!
3. I explained to him that overall the central air was working well but only with a slight whistle. He said he'd change the filter because the one in there was too tight ( I had changed the filter about two weeks ago) then he proceeded to check the inside and outside components. About 5 minutes later he came in to tell me there was no freon - then disappeared again.  He came back about 35 minutes later to say that the outside unit was 'pretty banged up' ; but didn't elaborate on this statement  to explain if it was due to natural wear and tear or  something else.  He then said I had  an older layout for piping and threw some verbiage to me about sizes or types or something only he would know about it . I asked him how did I stay cool over the hot weekend if there was no freon. He said 'oh there maybe a little freon left'....and maybe the bulk of it leaked out over the weekend but basically I needed a whole new unit. Well, he lost credibility with the freon discrepancy AND not logically explaining how I could stay cool (so cool I needed a sweatshirt) if the unit was that  bad and at that point  I really just wanted him out.   I had had ENOUGH!!!

4. All during  his 'explanations' he barely made any eye contact with me..
5. When he left I turned on the central air and was still cool....but it still whistled....the original 'issue' I contacted this company about..geesh

They were prompt and they seemed to do a credible job. They cleaned up after themselves and the cooling system works. It cost a lot.

Just a note that I will be updating this review depending on how they followup on a recent issue.
So the background is that they installed 2 A/C units for us at a reasonable price.  We did get several quotes and based on reviews on Angie's List, we decided to use them.  In general, we were happy with their service other than the crew not really doing a great job cleaning up and leaving cigarette buds behind.
Now flash forward to today (not even 1 year after).  We use a different provider for our cooling/heating service contracts.  In order to have the 2 new units under contract, they do a check to make sure that everything is in order.  Well, one of the units did not have enough freon.  According to the tech, the temperature differential should be around 20 degrees and the one unit was only 10 degrees.  I did verify this on the internet that 10 degrees is not enough.
So I called Cooling Unlimited and asked them if they can resolve this issue or even just check out the units to verify.  Well, this is why my current rating is so low.  The attitude from the salesperson (the person who originally sold me the units) was not what I call customer friendly.  Trying very hard to place doubt on the other provider/tech.  I don't blame him for this but his attitude again wasn't very customer orientated.  What I am suppose to do as a customer - what would any customer do with something that is still under warranty?  So finally he stated that he need to talk with service and get back to me.  Can you guess if he has call me back yet?
Geez talk about disappointment.  All I am asking is for them to check it and confirm.  I even asked him - what if I get another service provider to come out and check and they find the same numbers?
I guess I'll have to get it fixed and pay out of pocket.  At thsi point, I am never going to recommend others there and I regret that I did recommend them to two other families.

I called to have an air conditioner unit that is in the wall repaired because it was leaking water into my house.  He said he'd by by 2 days later in the morning.  I took the day off from work and waited all day but he never showed up.  He called 2 days later at 9:30 at night to reschedule a repair date.  Needless to say I called someone else.

Scheduling the appointment for both visits was a simple process, and the date or our appointment we were called when the technician was on his way to our house.  The technician gave us a break down of what was being done and explained the condition of our system.  There was a issue with one of the houses that drained condensation and the technician was able to repair it onsite.  The entire process was efficient, simple, and flawless.

They were very helpful teaching me about my heating system in my recently purchased home. Work was done to clean and test all the systems and they gave me very detailed information about what they were doing, what the condition was, etc. Scheduling was easy and they got me in quick.

It took them three follow-up visits to get it right but get it right they did. The quality of their work is outstanding, Really, it's beautiful...and I say that as someone who is really quite fussy.
Mike was a super-sleuth when it came to debugging the problem of a non-functioning compressor unit (turns out his colleagues had reversed a connection).. Would I use them again? Yes I would. Would I recommend them to others? Definitely

It went very well and we may decide to use them in the future. We are still looking at quotes and their price is reasonable. The guy who came out was great; he came out to my house but we got the times a little mixed up. It ended up my husband was not here when the estimating was done and he would have preferred to be here. As it turned out their technician Kevin did a great presentation of his company and was very professional. I really liked his presentation; that's why we are considering using them for the central air. We had a little trouble getting hold of the proper person we needed to speak with initially, but once it got resolved it was fine.

I liked that they did calculations well. They did a good job on the boiler, laying out the gas pipes and the circular loops and that kind of stuff. The thermostats they did well. What I didn't like is they had changed this from a concentric intake output pipe, where you have a pipe inside a pipe that does two different things. They didn't really check on that and they didn't do that great of a clean-up job. They actually went up on their pricing as the project went on.

I really wasn't satisfied with the guy.  He did tell me what he was going but he missed the actual problem and I ended up just fixing it myself.  It was a shaft on the squirrel cage that was loose and came apart.  They did clean the coil with acid on the inside but other than that didn't really check the compressor because it was working.

Received an estimate for a new heating system and adding central air conditioning. I was very happy with this company--the time the took to come out to look at the job, return an estimate, and respond to questions. In the end, I chose a company that was a little cheaper to do the same work, but they were a close second. With the large job I had to do, I decided to go based on price and Angie's List reviews. I am happy with my choice, but would absolutely recommend Cooling to do work for others.

I looked them up because they had serviced my unit that I have in my house before and I saw them on Angie's List.  They came out twice.  The price was where it should be.  They were excellent.  They were knowledgeable and the price was competitive.  I recommended them to two people.

We wanted to replace our old oil heating system.  We got three estimates, all companies from Angie's list.  We liked all three and the estimates were similar in price.  We chose Cooling Unlimited because Kevin was able to answer all our questions and they seemed big enough to get the work done on time.  Kevin was our contact throughout the process and he was responsive and always available.  The team came when Kevin said they would, got the work done in two days and arranged for a company to remove our old oil tank.  Once the system was installed we had two problems.  The first was an odd, fog-horn like sound that occurred whenever the heat came on.  When we called to report it, the company sent a technician the same week to correct it.  The second problem was with the radiator that Cooling Unlimited installed in the kitchen.  Once it was installed it sounded like a water fountain!  We called and Kevin who sent a technician but he couldn't fix it.  It took two and a half months but Kevin kept at it, calling the manufacturer and figuring out they had installed the wrong unit.  Just this month they came and replaced the unit with the appropriate Runtal radiator and it now works perfectly.
We also were impressed by the way they handled the rebates.  They were efficient and professional and we received all the rebates they promised.
While we wish they could have gotten it right the first time, we never felt like Cooling Unlimited didn't care or wouldn't get it done.  They were great and we are fully satisfied.  We would hired them again and can highly recommend them.
