"I have looked into your concern and I am confused by your comments. Our records show that you were called on 6/26/2013 and scheduled for an estimate for 7/9/2013. Charlie was the person who came out and did an assessment for you and I have him sending out the estimate to you on 7/10/2013. I apologize for any miscommunication or confusion with this."
1. The appointment was scheduled for 8am on 6/11 a few weeks ago. At 8:15am I phoned the office and Marie said she hadn't booked it but would look it up (she sounded a bit rattled). After a few minutes she told me the Tech was caught in Tunnel traffic and would be there soon.
2. The Tech arrived at 8:45 am and didn't apologize or say anything about his lateness . Additionally he took a neighbor's deeded parking spot and when I explained that to him (in an effort to offer alternate parking) he shrugged and said they could call the Property Office if they needed to park there. We were off to a GREAT start!!!
3. I explained to him that overall the central air was working well but only with a slight whistle. He said he'd change the filter because the one in there was too tight ( I had changed the filter about two weeks ago) then he proceeded to check the inside and outside components. About 5 minutes later he came in to tell me there was no freon - then disappeared again. He came back about 35 minutes later to say that the outside unit was 'pretty banged up' ; but didn't elaborate on this statement to explain if it was due to natural wear and tear or something else. He then said I had an older layout for piping and threw some verbiage to me about sizes or types or something only he would know about it . I asked him how did I stay cool over the hot weekend if there was no freon. He said 'oh there maybe a little freon left'....and maybe the bulk of it leaked out over the weekend but basically I needed a whole new unit. Well, he lost credibility with the freon discrepancy AND not logically explaining how I could stay cool (so cool I needed a sweatshirt) if the unit was that bad and at that point I really just wanted him out. I had had ENOUGH!!!
4. All during his 'explanations' he barely made any eye contact with me..
5. When he left I turned on the central air and was still cool....but it still whistled....the original 'issue' I contacted this company about..geesh
So the background is that they installed 2 A/C units for us at a reasonable price. We did get several quotes and based on reviews on Angie's List, we decided to use them. In general, we were happy with their service other than the crew not really doing a great job cleaning up and leaving cigarette buds behind.
Now flash forward to today (not even 1 year after). We use a different provider for our cooling/heating service contracts. In order to have the 2 new units under contract, they do a check to make sure that everything is in order. Well, one of the units did not have enough freon. According to the tech, the temperature differential should be around 20 degrees and the one unit was only 10 degrees. I did verify this on the internet that 10 degrees is not enough.
So I called Cooling Unlimited and asked them if they can resolve this issue or even just check out the units to verify. Well, this is why my current rating is so low. The attitude from the salesperson (the person who originally sold me the units) was not what I call customer friendly. Trying very hard to place doubt on the other provider/tech. I don't blame him for this but his attitude again wasn't very customer orientated. What I am suppose to do as a customer - what would any customer do with something that is still under warranty? So finally he stated that he need to talk with service and get back to me. Can you guess if he has call me back yet?
Geez talk about disappointment. All I am asking is for them to check it and confirm. I even asked him - what if I get another service provider to come out and check and they find the same numbers?
I guess I'll have to get it fixed and pay out of pocket. At thsi point, I am never going to recommend others there and I regret that I did recommend them to two other families.
Mike was a super-sleuth when it came to debugging the problem of a non-functioning compressor unit (turns out his colleagues had reversed a connection).. Would I use them again? Yes I would. Would I recommend them to others? Definitely
We also were impressed by the way they handled the rebates. They were efficient and professional and we received all the rebates they promised.
While we wish they could have gotten it right the first time, we never felt like Cooling Unlimited didn't care or wouldn't get it done. They were great and we are fully satisfied. We would hired them again and can highly recommend them.
