An oil delivery truck driver for Atlas Glen-mor hit my car and fled the scene. Fortunately, a witness was able to get the license plate number. I filed a police report and the police tracked down the company. I contacted Atlas Glen-mor to inform them that their driver had left the scene of an accident where he or she caused significant damage to my vehicle. The company was not apologetic in the least. They spent three days delaying the process, trying to haggle with the repair shop, and refusing to answer my questions about a rental car and a resolution of the driver's actions. I spent a significant amount of time dealing with the issue during the work day, and spent money on taxi cabs to and from work, but the company did not even bother to acknowledge the inappropriate, in fact criminal, behavior of its driver.

I have a service agreement with them that includes everything such as parts and labor. He did $700 worth of work including parts and labor and there was no charge. It was pretty good. I've used them for 8 years. I can call them in the middle of the night. I will absolutely continue to use them.

We have a gas-fired boiler for a steam radiator system.  The system is only a few years old. We started having problems with the boiler in November 2010.  We called AGM (Atlas Glen-mor) and they sent out a guy.  He spent some time looking at the system and concluded that it was an electrical problem, but he explained that we would have to hire an electrician separately because AGM did not have electricians on staff.  He charged us the standard price of $98.  We hired an electrician who determined that the electrical system in the boiler system was working properly.  We paid him $170.  We continued to have problems with the boiler. We called AGM again and they sent out another guy.  The second AGM guy spent a whole day cleaning and repairing the system - replaced a panel and identified a blocked vent.  He charged us $542 and told us that he was an electrician and could have done the work that we had hired the electrician for.  We called AGM to complain about the misinformation from the first guy.  AGM refunded the $98 we had paid the first guy (but not the cost of the electrician we were told to hire). In March 2011, we began having problems with the boiler again.  I could hear the fan coming on and the electrical ignition clicking, but it would take hours before it would ignite, if at all.  We called AGM and they sent a guy out.  As usual, prompt and courteous. He spent some time looking at the system but couldn't find the problem.  He charged us $98. We were fed up at this point.  We bought a couple of electrical space heaters and just suffered through the remainder of the spring.  In late fall 2011, we called another company we found on Angie's List (Sila) and they got it working the first time and it worked flawlessly for the rest of the winter.

It started out great, we moved into a house with an oil boiler.  These guys provided us with a reasonable rate for automatic oil delivery and a 1 year service contract.  When inquiring how they keep their prices so low the salesman told me that their approach is to get new customers with a low price, then raise the price in following years in hopes that customers will stay with them because of the great service they provide.  Because of our old boiler we have had a total of four technicians come out to look at our boiler this winter, each one was well qualified and provided good, timely service.  Because of the number of service calls we decided it was time to replace the 40+ year old boiler with a modern unit.  This is where the problems began.  We contact Atlas to let them know that we would be converting to a gas system, at the very mention of this the customer service rep wanted to argue with me about the advantages of oil vs. gas.  When I finally got to my account manager I found there is a $400 cancellation fee for stopping service before the contract ends.  (did we go through the entire 365 days of the contract? no.  did we go through the entire winter heating season? yes.  would we have another delivery before our contract ran out? no - the tank is already full)  When I finally realized there is no reasoning with them and I would have to pay the fee, they then decided that they wanted the opportunity to quote us on our gas conversion?  What nerve, refuse to work with me and then ask for me to buy more from you?  Needless to say, we did not have them perform the gas boiler install.
Summary:  You will get great prices to start off with, but beware of any long term relationship with this company.

Very good company.

Made an appointment with salesman Stephen Smith who coordinated the project. He was very professional, kept me informed of the progress of job. He was punctual in spite of needing to coordinate timing with two contractors for chimney work for this job. The day the job was done the workman for the company and the two subcontractors arrived at 7a and the job was complete by 7p the same day. Wonderful installation, everyone cleaned up after themselves with all contractors and workman performed in a professional manner. I checked with four other companies and this company came in with the best price.

We get billed whenever we have an oil delivery, but we also do a maintenance contract every year for our heater. When we first moved to Danvers in 1984, someone from the community group that we knew recommended them. So we used them in our first house. Then when we moved to another house in Danvers, we continued with them. They are very responsive whenever we have a problem, and they are available 24/7. I am not sure about their price, because I have not compared them.

Their oil prices are way too high.  They are about 30 cents higher than anyone else.  When I mentioned that I was going to switch oil companies, they offered to drop the prices for a one time delivery or a free oil cleaning for a year.  I was very disappointed with them.  They were willing to work with me for a payment plan, however.

For more than nine years, we were a long term customer of Atlas Glen-mor Oil Company including purchasing from Atlas heating oil delivered to our home, and annual premium oilheat service plans (most recently, costing about $425) from Atlas (and its predecessors).  Such service plans includes, without limitation, servicing the oil tank gauge and vent alarm (regulator).  In connection with such service plans, the Company performs an annual inspection and "tune-up."

On or about March 30, 2010, during a heating oil delivery at our home, Atlas? oil delivery person overfilled our oil tank.  Consequently, heating oil spilled onto our basement resulting in the Oil Spill Event described below.  We contacted Atlas promptly after detecting the Oil Spill Event.  An Atlas representative came to our home, observed the heating oil spill, and then only spread on the basement floor absorbing gravel together with absorbing paper.  During the same visit, the Atlas representative noted that the device on the top of the oil tank that regulates the amount of oil filled was old, probably faulty and so immediately replaced it. Such "regulator" was the oil tank gauge and vent alarm (the "Regulator"). In any case, the delivery person should not have commenced the heating oil delivery if he did not hear the "whistle" from the Regulator,  thus alerting him that the oil tank gauge and vent alarm may not have been operational and was malfunctioning.

The Oil Spill Event proximately caused the strong odor of oil to permeate our home. Because of excessive rain on or about March 30, 2010 and resulting minor water leakage into the Basement, the oil spill spread across and contaminated most of the basement tile floor in the room where the oil tank was located. The heating oil also became absorbed into, contaminated  and ruined furniture, built-in shelves, and wood cabinets lining the perimeter of the Oil Tank Room.   On two subsequent occasions, Atlas? Field Supervisor visited us and examined the heating oil in the Basement, took photographs, inspected some of the oil damage and recorded observations. On the second visit, he brought with him someone identified as a representative of the insurance company or adjuster for Atlas, who also inspected the basement and may have taken photographs or recorded notes. Subsequent to such visits, we received a letter from the insurance adjuster and agent for Atlas, regarding our claims arising from the Oil Spill Event. Such letter states in part that, based on their ?investigation? (without any explanation or details) Atlas was not responsible for our damages.

To remediate the direct consequences of the Oil Spill Event, we incurred (not to mention countless hours of our time) substantial reasonable and appropriate expenses that total more than $20,000 to eliminate the dangerous oil odors; to remove, store and then return our personal effects from and to the Basement (so that remedial work could be performed there); to remove, dispose and then replace the heating oil contaminated furniture, floor tiles; built in storage units and contents. In addition to these expense, we have also incurred a material disruption of our daily lives, together with trauma, distress, physical labor.   Our homeowners? insurance does not cover damages from such heating oil spills, while we believe that Atlas has or is required to have liability insurance to cover its liability for such events because of its handling of hazardous materials. Atlas is the expert on heating oil delivery and heating equipment, and homeowners like us must rely on such expertise to protect our homes from hazardous heating oil spills.

Nonetheless, after sending a detailed demand letter to Atlas, we received a response from their lawyer that stated in part: (a) there was no evidence of an overfill (despite admitting that the faulty Regulator was replaced and that there were observations of the spill by several employees and representatives of Atlas); (b) the damages were caused by water leaking and a cluttered basement (despite the fact that water alone that occurs in many basements after a heavy rain would not have caused hazardous contamination in the absence of the oil spill); and (c) Atlas was not responsible for the Oil Spill Event despite admitting that they delivered oil on the specified date and that the Regulator was replaced later on the same date.     Since most oil deliveries are made into basements that are used for storage, and since many basements have water during significant rainfalls, Atlas?s denial of liability implies that it may never be responsible for damages from its overfills if the customer is unfortunate enough to need a delivery during rainfalls.  In summary, after more than nine years of being a loyal customer of Atlas, we are told that a grossly negligent oil overfill during an oil delivery by them on a rainy day and the resulting expenses were not their fault or responsibility.  Instead, their insurance adjuster and lawyer basically blame the homeowner and the rain. So much for 100% customer satisfaction!

After many years of being a happy customer, with a yearly contract, I switched to Gas in Dec having a contract with them that expired in Dec.  They said I had one delivery still due, and charged me $300 to break my contract.  I think thats reasonable if I broke the contract at the beginning of the year, or middle, or even near the end.   However, having accepted some 30 out of 31 deliveries, this seemed ridiculous.

We got three comparable quotes, so even thought the price tag was high (yikes!), they seemed fair. Atlas Glen-Mor was responsive, thorough and professional. The two guys who installed the boiler (I think they were both named John) were great -- they worked hard all day (about 11 hours), explained everything very carefully, and were very professional. We needed a follow-up visit to skim the water in the boiler, and the service was prompt and effective. My only minor gripe is I've sometimes had to wait on hold for 10+ minutes when I've called, but I eventually get through. Maybe it's extra busy in winter time.

I called AGM because they were already serving the house when I bought it.  I decided to stay with them because they were friendly and responsive.

My oil tank is very old, possibly original to the house (60 years old), they came down the next day, did an ultra-sonic tank inspection and certified that the tank is eligible for their insurance.

They also sent a technician to perform a cleaning of my boiler and flue, he took a good hour+ to perform it it was obvious that there was soot built up from previous years.

Their price per gallon was not the lowest, but it was one of those fixed ceiling plans that also included boiler service if it needs repairs.  I think I was about $0.20/G higher than the lowest price advertised by reputable competitors I checked, at about 1000G per year that makes the price ceiling cost and service plan about $200 per year.  Considering I heard my neighbor (w/o the price ceiling) talking about $4/G oil in March I felt like my price ($3.10/G) was a bargain.

Oil delivery is always on time and the delivery person is clearly careful because he has to cross about 30" of flowers to get to my fill hook up--I'm also amazed at how they're able to estimate almost exactly when the tank is at 1/3rd full so they can fill up (particularly in spring/summer when heat use is so variable).  The delivery slip is left on a door hanger, very easy to read, they bills they send as well.  I pay online with a credit card, there are no fees to pay with the credit cards (others added a % to your bill if using a card)

I had done a little sniffing around in terms of what the going rate was. It seems to be in the ball-park and since I had done business with this company before I felt comfortable going ahead. They were friendly and they did a good job. Their price was fair. I would use them in the future.

We have a service contract with them and it is an annual contract. It is $150 and we get two checks a year. They are fantastic. Our boiler went out once in the evening. They came out very quickly and fixed it at no charge. Every service person that has come out has been extremely friendly, knowledgeable and solves the problem very quickly.

Called around for the best prices and picked Atlas Glen-Mor for one of the better prices for both oil cost and service contract. Before they delivered oil, they came to check out the tank -- I had been warned by home inspector that it might need replacement -- and sure enough it did. They gave me 5 gallons to keep my hot water going over the weekend until they could give me a new tank on Monday. Installation went smoothly and they were professional and courteous. So far so good!

I called Atlas Glen-Mor in the afternoon, since our furnace was blowing cold air, not hot, and they agreed to send a technician the same day, with a 5 hour window. Towards the end of the window they called to say the technician was tied up, and asked if it would it be okay if he came a bit later. When the technician came, he quickly diagnosed that it was a problem with a sensor in a vent fan, and checked to see whether he had the correct sensor with him. He didn't, so he offered to come back the next morning with it, which he did. Through it all, they were good about communicating when they would arrive, how much it would cost, and what was wrong with the furnace.

Atlas Glen-Mor was the heating oil company in the apartment my husband and I rented for almost two years. When we first moved in, the previous tenants had been using Belmont Oil Company. When we called them, we discovered that their price per gallon was sky-high, and that they also didn't offer any price-cap/price insurance programs. This was last summer 2008, and the oil market had been absolutely crazy, so there was no way we were signing up for a company without a price protection program. I did some shopping around and called Atlas Glen-More for a quote. They had 3 different pricing schemes to choose from, and the salesman Jim explained the ins and outs of each one in great detail over the phone. I was very being during this time so I didn't get back with Jim to firm up for a while. He was diligent about calling to check in with me every little bit, leaving me voicemails with the oil prices as of that day (this was during a volatile period when the prices were fluctuating by 40-50 cents per gallon from day to day). I really appreciated getting those updates. Finally I got my act together and called to set up service. It was smooth and easy. They have a program where their computer knows when your tank is running low, so in 2 years I never once called to order more oil--they just showed up when needed. I paid our bills online which was super-easy. We had one problem with our oil furnace (really our landlord's) during the time we were with Atlas, and they showed up at our apartment within an hour of our call. They fixed the problem, liaisoned with our landlord about the bill, and were super-friendly and professional. We've moved now, and don't have oil heat in our new house, but if we did there is no way I'd even consider going with anyone other than Atlas Glen-Mor. Our experience could not have been more positive.
