 + -1 moreThe foreman came several days ahead and gave an estimate of the cost. I asked him if he would look at our yard and give us an estimate for pruning bushes, hemlocks, etc. He said he would but never did. The crew arrived as scheduled, cut down the tree, and removed the wood, twigs etc. In all I was satisfied except for the foreman's not returning with an estimate for other work needed in our yard.

 + -1 moreThe evaluation for services was great... we explained that we didn't have money in our budget to get all the work done that we needed done - (recently bought the house and knew that the trees hadn't been properly taken care of since the house was built in the 60s) The work was quoted in parts so that we could prioritize which trees needed addressed immediately and which ones could wait. They took into account the amount of work that I could and wanted to do myself. It was just as asked. We bought an Angie's List big deal coupon to help with the cost. We actually live out of town and rent the house, so we were afraid scheduling was going to be an issue to coordinate between ourselves, our renters and Sav-A-Tree... Sav-A-Tree had no issues pushing back the service date until the schedules worked and even honored the coupon which had an expiration date. The job was assigned to 3 professionals to perform and the arborist showed up at the job start just to make sure that all the details were communicated properly since it was the first time that we had been on site with Sav-A-Tree. The job went smooth, start to finish. Mark, Luciano, and Mike did a great job always moving, doing exactly as we pre-arranged and periodically checking to make sure that we were happy with what they had done (the 3 trees that we wanted removed, we actually only needed the tops taken off - the house and power lines were an issue for me to do it by myself - the crew made sure that the height that they were left at was okay for me to handle) They cleaned up as they went along and went back over everything when they were done. Great guys. My only wish is that they could have cost less but honestly I feel I got what I paid for and more - no complaints here - highly recommend - actually, if they did roofs too, that would be even better.

 + -1 moreIt went well. They arrived rite on time w/ several staff. Arborist was present for beginning of job to make sure staff fully aware of my wishes (arborist had visited several weeks before to determine specifically what I wanted done). Having arborist's expertise at initial consult visit + then at start of actual work was invaluable + helped me to prioritize projects + to eliminate some tasks not practical. Price seemed reasonable for extensiveness of job, including use of bucket truck. I would recommend + use them again!
Description of Work: Trimmed extensively + shaped a # of tall conifers +2 deciduous trees near my property line. The tallest of the trees (arbor vitae) was ~25-30' high, had split in half during a storm + sent large branches tumbling over fence + into neighbor's yard. Several other trees had grown over fence on other side of yard+ multiple branches were lifting section of neighbor's shed roof. SAVE-A-TREE workers extensively trimmed the arbor v. first, including taking # feet from top of tree (@my request--arborist advised against taking off from top due to abnormal "visual") + they then shaped the tree so silhouette did not look too funny. They gave me advice on how to protect damaged part of the tree (where split occurred)+ they gently strapped the 2 large trunks of tree together. They needed a "bucket" truck for the second part of job: trimming back tree branches that were lifting part of shed roof. trimmed the arborvitae including taking a # of feet off top

 + -1 moreThey came when promised to give me a quote. The main problem I had with them is that I bought a deal from Angie's list for $140 for $300 worth of tree removal. The small trees I wanted removed would not have taken more than an hour to remove and were easily accessible without need of special equipment. However, after they came out I was told the price would be $510 as that is their minimum charge for tree removal. I was quite disturbed to hear that as nothing like that was mentioned in the fine print of the deal. Since I had already spent the $140, I went ahead and gave them the job which they did professionally and quickly but I spent more money than I had wanted for this service. I feel that the minimum charge should have been spelled out clearly on the deal I found on Angie's list. I went back and reviewed the original deal carefully and did not find this information anywhere.
Description of Work: They were hired to remove 2 small Hickory trees that were leaning into a neighbors yard.

 + -1 moreIt went very well. They were initially hired to prune the trees to try to remove most of the diseased areas. They were very honest that the trees may not survive even after the pruning as they were in very poor shape. I decided that it was best to simply remove the trees which they did, also at a lower cost than the pruning would have been. They were very professional, honest and cleaned up very well.
Description of Work: Removed 2 diseased tress from my backyard.

They did a good job, but scheduling was not the best and the price even with Angie's coupon is high compare to other tree services in my area. I will go with another service next time, due to the price.

 + -1 moreThey were very good at cleaning up and were very courteous but they did not do the job. They did a very poor job. They had to come back a second time and they did not really want to. What had happened was there was a major trunk that they left in the ground and it was very unsightly. They said that they did not want to hurt their blades so I got out there with a hand saw and demonstrated how with a couple of cuts you could remove the stump and knocked the stump down the hill. They had a crew come back and they took the stump away but I had to physically do it myself rather than the company doing the job themselves. I paid $140 or $190 for every $300 worth of work and the job was worth $700 or something. I would probably not use them again.
Description of Work: I used the big deal that I purchased from SavATree Middleton in May or June for taking away a tree that had fallen down due to a hurricane.

 + -1 moreIt went just great. From Ben, the arborist visiting the property to see what needed to be done, to the team who worked hard getting all the trees and plants back in shape everything went so smoothly. The quote was good and I am very pleased and would strongly recommend.
Description of Work: Thinned out several trees and cut out dead wood. Cut on tree back to a much more manageable height. Cut back all foundation plantings around the house. Took away all cuttings etc.

Description of Work: I was solicited by Angie's List via email for a special $300 worth of tree services for $140 from SavATree in Middleton, MA . When I called AL to purchase, I was told that the price was $157. I asked what was the difference and was told by Chris that an extra person would be added to the crew. So I purchased the $157 deal via VISA credit card. I received a confirmation email with a phone number and to call at SavATree. It was a Thursday and I placed the call to the directed number and left a message. No response and had to call again Monday. The receptionist was not helpful as she couldn't seem to understand my simple request for AL special. She told me to call back tomorrow. I did and left another message. 6 days later (one day was a Sunday) I received an apologetic call from SavATree with a number of excuses. I was able to schedule a very pleasant woman to come to my home for an estimate which occurred within a few days. When I received the estimate, SavATree's prices were higher than my current landscaper so I declined the service. BTW, AL confirmed there was NO offer for $157, only an offer for $140. Thanks, Angie's List for bad info. Now I had to get the proper credit from AL for $157, On 8/2/13 I called AL and spoke to Robbie Davis in Member Service Dept. He told me the credit would be issue within a few days. No credit was issued until I called back repeatedly and then only $17 credit on 8/26/13, 24 days later! The $140 remaining had yet to be credited. WHY???? I called AL on 8/19/13 and spoke to Cassandra, Supervisor at the Help Desk. She assured me the $140 will be credited within 3 days and apologized for all of the problems and miscommunication. The $140 was finally refunded on August 19. All of this info has been taken from my notes and paperwork from AL email. NO WAY will I EVER use another Angie's List offer. NO WAY!

Description of Work: General Tree Care - III Description of Work Performed:(1) Multi-leader Maple back left corner - Perform crown reduction by 3-4' to control size, also crown thinning by 20% for improved health. Prune deadwood 1" and greater. Also deadwood nearby Rhododendron. Recycle brush and debris.

 + 1 moreOverall it was a great experience. The person who consulted with me was extremely knowledgeable and easy to talk with. He helped me understand without feeling pressured what would be the best services for my rather large yard area and older plants. He provided me with a written estimate of the work and cost. Even with the coupon it was more than I expected to pay. We were able to negotiate a price within my budget but I felt that once I disclosed my budget that was the price he quoted. It took us a while to coordinate the dates for the actual work. Once we determined a date the workers were on time and did a great job. My yard looks great and they took great care to keep me informed and remove debris.
Description of Work: They pruned tress and other bushes. They cut back over grown trees and bushes and treated trees that had min infections or pesticides. They provide me with information about my tress and other bushes and mad recommendations on care and shaping.

Some weeks later, a few other staff came over, met briefly....again some helpful information about the yard, moved in very quickly, removed the tree and left everything neat and in order. Very easy to work with, professional and good-natured.

 + -1 moreI think they are very competent. They were professional and everything. I am not very happy right now because it was expensive. There were hidden charges, which I think was inappropriate. The way the ad was run it tricks the customer to think that they are really getting a good deal and you get a discount this is not a good deal and outstanding for the treatment that I got was over $740 which was huge chunk considering that I want to retire and the Angie's list offer was $140 I think or something like that, but my minimal charge would be $500 I would have never ever taken it. I am several months away from retirement. I ended up spending way over my budget. I would not use them again.
