Description of Work: a small job reairing some woodwork under a window. It took two short visits to do the repair and use caulking, then prime paint the area. Giovani is a very good carpenter and the finished work looks very good. The only negative comment is that he needs to be on time or close to it when promising the time he willl come. All in all a very good job for a great price.

Description of Work: I found out this summer that working with contractors for smaller jobs is a nightmare. Angie's list needs to put a disclaimer that if you have a smaller job, any deal you purchase can be pretty much worthless if you don't have a big job to go with it. Before I go into the ordeal and why they got lower marks than I would have liked to give them, I will summarize. The carpenter Gerardo did an excellent job. He went above and beyond to do a professional job and cleaned up after himself. The painting crew did alright. On a positive note, I have a lot of plants growing right up against the porch they painted and they were very careful not to get paint on the plants. They also did minimal damage to the plants. The last time I painters to this same work, they destroyed half my plants and I was pulling up globs of paint from the soil for years to come. On the other hand. they left marks all over the windows after reglazing them and paint marks on the siding and bricks after painting the stairs railing. They scraped the old paint off that was chipping in places on the porch but did not sand before painting so you see patchy paint all over the porch. By my calculations I paid around $70/hr per person so would have expected a better job of sanding and cleanup. When I called the office to ask about how to clean the glaze residue of the windows, Giovany did come back and clean up the residue and the paint. I paid full price for the reglazing of 8 windows but I know that a few were not done. I can see the old crack marks under the paint and also there was no residue on those windows. The glazing may not have been coming off right now but it is cracked and will come off sooner than later. I didn't not make a big deal about it as I was just grateful and relieved to have most of the work finally done. The reason why I would use them again is because people with lower prices did not not show up. My $2,000 job was not worth the time for other contractors from Angie's list I had asked as well as a good friend who has his own contracting company. They were all getting bigger jobs and couldn't have cared less about mine. At the end of the day, Sunrise did show up and did finish the work. However, it was painful and very stressful for me to actually get them to show up. From reading the other reviews I suspect that my job was just on the cusp of being big enough to show up. I mean $2,000 is not peanuts. I had bought a deal with Angie's list for an handy man (Rick Kline) who kept dragging me along until he finally emailed me 3 weeks before the OH scheduled for mid-Aug (I had gotten the estimate in early June and he knew the date of the OH) to say he had hurt his foot and I should get a refund. His reviews show exactly what was going (mostly Fs for blowing people off) So if you decide to use Sunrise, you will need to have large jobs and you will need to call and call and call if you want the job done in any reasonable amount of time. Now for the painful details of what I had to do to get them to show up: I bought the deal on a Thurs and called Sunrise right away. They said they would have an estimator come out on Tue. My open house was the following Sunday (1.5 weeks away). Giovany showed up on time and I explained to him that the work would need to be done either that week or the following because of the open house. He said absolutely not a problem and he would send me the proposal on Wed and the work could start a few days later. Wed - No proposal Thurs - called him. Said he will send it. Fri - Sent proposal for $2,000. I had to discuss it with the other owner of our two family. He had just gotten a proposal for the same work for $1200. I wasn't sure that contractor would be able to do the work in time since he was a one man operation. Giovany told me he had 30 people in his company, which I am not sure is true now. I was also told that if I called on Mon with a go ahead, I could have people working by Tue. Mon- Called and said I want to go ahead. Am told that a lot of work came in over the weekend so they can't possibly have someone come the next day. Called Giovany and he said he send someone the next day. Tue - Nothing. Call him at the end of day and he promises to have someone there the next day. Each time I mentioned the fast approaching OH, he would reassure me it would get done. Wed- Crew including carpenter show up. Carpenter starts working but crew disappears. Giovany assures me that painting crew will return that afternoon. I'm elated to see the carpenter as I have been sleepless for two nights wondering if people will show up. No painting crew shows up that day. It's a bright sunny day and work is to be done outside. Thurs - Another bright sunny day. No painting crew. Call Giovany at the end of day and he tells me he'll send people on Sat. Sat it's scheduled to rain. Why not Fri (didn't ask) as I had already decided to move the OH as I knew there was no way the work was going to get done before the OH 3 days away. Fri - Another bright sunny day Sat - Pouring rain when I wake up. Call Giovanny. He tells me he was going to send the guys but it was raining and they can't paint wet wood. Promises they will be there on Sun. Sun - Bright sunny day. No painters. Mon - I wake up to the sound of scraping. Finally, they showed up and the work was finished that day.

i can't get a response!!
Description of Work: I have reached out 5 times to try and schedule a time to use my angies list big deal with this company but have gotten no response. totally unprofessional - and w ehave never had this happen before. UPDATE - I did finally get the sunrise contractor out to provide an estimate after some help from angiies list. The person who came out was late - an hour after the window they gave and promised a quote the next day which I never received. 4 weeks later they called back to try to schedule someone to come and look at the work we wanted done. They were horrendous in terms of follow up and reliability. Angies list was great about the refund though, which was nice.
