He arrived early and was already well into the inspection when I arrived. He took photos of any issues and had them attached to the report. He was extremely thorough, friendly, not condescending or arrogant. I would recommend him in a heartbeat.

I arrived 15 minutes early for the first inspection, and he had already done an outside inspection, and took me around pointing out problems. We then went into the kitchen, where he started the dishwasher, so it could go through it's whole cycle while the inspection continued. We then spent well over an hour in the basement, checking the brick foundation, which needed a great deal of work, and had other problems. As he went through the house he checked every switch, socket and light; turned on every faucet, checked that hot water got to every place quickly, heating system worked, drains worked (or didn't), and fully explained everything he did and found. The second inspection was just as complete as the first, although he found less serious problems (the house is over 100 years old, after all). This time I arrived a half hour early, but again he had already checked the roof and outside of the foundation. He enters what he finds into a program on his tablet computer, which he also uses to take pictures. I was able to see what he was putting in the report as he did it, and he emailed his detailed and illustrated report pretty much as soon as he got to the office. He is very knowledgeable and able to communicate what he finds effectively. I highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Mark was referred to me by a friend who's used him several times. I used him for the first time in March to inspect an old home I had made an offer on. He took over three hours to inspect the two story home and found numerous problems, particularly with the foundation, so I cancelled the purchase. I found another house of similar age (1907), and had him inspect that. That house was in much better condition and I'm buying it. I also had a termite inspection done at each home which he arranged. The cost above is for one house; it depends on the size of the house.

He was knowledgeable and explained everything he saw to us. He didn't get frustrated with our questions and even gave us tips on how to maintain the home in the future.
Description of Work: We are in the process of purchasing our first home. Mark did a very thorough home inspection- he was there for two and a half hours! He also arranged for the wood-boring insect inspection required for the FHA mortgage.
