I stopped in The Vac Store to purchase vacuum bags for my Miele S300. The salesperson was so professional and knowledgeable I mentioned that my vacuum hadn't been serviced in a really long time, and that it had the odor of pets every time I turned it on. I have two shedding dogs. He recommended having it cleaned and explained in clear detail what they would do and how long it would likely take. I really got the sense that the salesman knew every little detail about the Miele. He was confident and articulate. I got a call 2 days later that my vacuum was good to go! I was thrilled. The pet odor is gone and I got educated about where some additional disposable filters are supposed to go. I then realized that The Vac Store sells Daikin ductless wall-mounted cooling and heating units. I have been interested in a system like this for a while. A unit was mounted in the store for display and I was given some pamphlets to read and find out more about the Daikin. The salesman also gave me the business card for The Vac Store specialist who sells and installs the units and informed me that he will do a complete home assessment and provide me with information about what unit would be best for my house. The whole experience was great!
Description of Work: I purchased my Miele at The Vac Store nearly 20 years ago and it is still going strong, but it needed to be cleaned and serviced badly. I took it to The Vac Store and they cleaned and serviced my Miele and did an incredibly good job.

The fee was to examine why a vacuum cleaner didn't work and report on whether it was worth fixing. They said the $15 fee would be doubled as a credit toward new Miele vacuum in their store if my Hoover was unfixable. They said they don't usually deal in Hoovers but they could certainly analyze why it didn't work and make a recommendation as to whether it was worth fixing.Days went by. When called, they said they needed to wait a few days for their specialist to come in for the analysis since Hoover was uncommon to them. Finally, they called to say it had a broken rewind switch mechanism and would cost close to $200 to get the part and replace. I said forget it and picked up the vac. They reiterated the offer to trade it in for new Miele, about $400. When I got home, I took the Hoover apart myself and discovered what would have been obvious had they in fact opened the vacuum and looked. One of the power lines was virtually severed, another close to being severed. I spliced the one, taped the other, and the vacuum works again. It's clear they never even opened the machine because the 3 screws that keep it closed were covered in a layer of gunky dust that had to be removed before you could insert screwdriver. Clearly, they never did the work.
Description of Work: Allegedly, taking the vacuum apart to determine why the motor wouldn't run. Then, give a report and recommendation to me as to whether it was worth fixing.
