Townsend Oil & Propane

They're really OK, except for the really oppressive prices they charge. They also time their deliveries to be just before they close a (monthly) billing period, and not based on degree-day values.

Overall it turned out good. They showed up when they were supposed to and they worked all day. They were regular. They cleaned up after themselves. The sub contractors did not come and have a look at it at the time, so they didn't know what they were getting into. They weren't kind of prepared for that. It wasn't Townsend's fault. It was the sub contractors fault and I'm not sure who did that. When we did the house, the access to the shower was just nasty and they did not realize that. They came out immediately the next day and fixed it. We've had them for years for my heating and air conditioning needs. We had to get new oil tanks at one point and they did that. The oil prices are a little high but their price is pretty good. We actually had a warranty because we bought a furnace from them years ago. They gave us a good price on that. We had checked other places and they were better. They were pretty good and they communicated well. I would use their services again in the future.

Everything was going fine for a while. When I checked the latest delivery I noticed they are charging $2.95 cents a gallon. What gives me pause is that we also have a vacation home in Maine and I am paying about 50 cents a gallon less. Since we are lower in the pipe line here I think the price should be lower if anything.

Overall they are very reliable and when they say they are going to be there, they show up on time if the don't then they call, they are easy to get a hold of. They cleaned up and they are very nice.
