I can't say enough good things about this company! I hired them about 8 years ago to install a central air conditioning system in our home, and then again last year to install a new, high-efficiency gas boiler for our heating system. They have come by several times over the years to perform maintenance or fix problems with the air conditioning. Jon and Artie, the owners, are extremely knowledgeable and always have been able to fix any problems that have arisen. For example, when it appeared that the compressor on our air conditioning unit had failed (likely from a power surge from the electric grid), they worked some magic on it and got it running again, saving us thousands of dollars (what a replacement would have cost). They are the most responsive contractors I have ever worked with. They answer their phones when called, or call back right away. They usually make time to come fix a problem the same day I call, even if it means coming in the late afternoon or evening. They even came over when my air conditioner quit on me the afternoon of July 3 during a heat wave, even though they were very busy and eager to start their July 4 holiday. I highly recommend them.

I had worked with another HVAC company that really disappointed me. Misdiagnosed the problem, and I wound up paying $900 in parts I did not need. And, then they didn't show for a fourth appointment so I had to start calling other companies at the last minute last night to see if I could get someone else to come look at the problem. Arthur told me that he could come by that evening and promptly showed up when he said he would. He and his partner, John, were very thorough and helped solve an additional problem that I wasn't even aware of. My issue appears to be electrical, and they may have solved it by just adjusting some wiring. There is a more expensive part that I may need - but they did not immediately suggest that I buy it. We'll wait and see if the problem shows up again. They are competent, genuine, and will not suggest extra parts or fixes that are unnecessary. I was impressed that they were willing to field a last minute call and took an appointment at 7pm and did not finish up until after 8pm. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Jonathan Ranieri arrived, assessed the situation, explained what was needed and made the appropriate repairs and fixes. He was courteous and professional during the process. He worked late to ensure everything worked properly and advised me on things I could do myself to ensure proper maintenance for the system. He made sure to show me what needed repair, the reasons why and alternatives based on short term versus long term needs. I never felt like he was recommending unnecessary repairs or services and will contact Fire and Ice for HVAC maintenance in the future,

They were able to come same day, even a bit earlier than they originally projected. Fixed my AC (new capacitor) and added Freon. Arthur explained things thoroughly and didn't sound rushed, even though I know he had a lot of other customers to get to during the heat wave. Friendly and professional.

My air conditioner stopped blowing cool air so I called Fire & Ice. On the phone, Arthur walked me through some basic troubleshooting to ensure that there were no obvious fixes. When that didn't work, they were able to squeeze me in same-day. The technician was punctual and courteous and took the time to explain to me exactly what was going on. He was quickly able to diagnose a leak and fixed it using a product called "Stop Leak"; he also topped up me up with 3-4lbs of coolant. All told, the tech was here for about an hour. While the service was pricey (I think Freon goes for $160/30lbs on Amazon, while Stop Leak is $10/can), I don't have the know-how to deal with HVAC issues myself and it was well worth it to have somebody reliable and knowledgeable deal resolve the issues for me.

Jon and his partner Artie were excellent to work with. They are quick to respond, professional, and seem to be excellent at identifying and repairing problems. I'd had ac problems for several years, had several companies come to fix the problem. None of them were successful, despite charging me significant amounts for presumed repairs. After one visit by Jon and Artie, the problem was successfully identified, and I've had the best cooling from my central air that I've had in years. I recommend them highly.

Arthur and Jon were great. They were flexible in scheduling and arrived on time. They were friendly and professional, and they were patient in explaining what they were doing as they worked with our HVAC system. They put a lot of care into their work and got our system humming beautifully!

Great name for an HVAC company! In January when my furnace hadn't been working all day and the service company I had a contract with hadn't shown up by 6 p.m., I knew I needed to get help FAST! The outside temperature was in the single digits all day and the temperature inside my house had dropped to 39 degrees! I called Fire & Ice from Angie's List. They finished another job and at 8 p.m. I was their next call! They quickly diagnosed the problem, made the necessary repairs and the furnace was working again! By the next morning the inside temperature was 63 degrees!! To prevent this from happening again, they made another appointment to come back and install a more efficient filter system. For the next scheduled appointment they showed up on time, were knowledgeable, friendly and neat. This is a business I can count on!

Arthur was professional, on time, and very thorough with this service and explanation of what he saw with my unit. I learned about it's operation, care, and would happily hire him again.

I have used Fire and Ice HVAC four times for various boiler issues and every single time they have been absolutely fantastic. They come quickly and then 4 out of 4 times they have gotten the boilers repaired. As is usually the case, issues happen in the middle of winter and people need heat and the John and Artie have kindly worked all kinds of hours including until midnight on a Friday and early early morning on a Sunday to get my boilers running again. They give great communication and are extremely reliable and I find their prices to be very competitive with other plumbing services I’ve used but with much more personal service

We used Fire & Ice HVAC when we lived in a condo in South Boston and now use them for our house in Dedham. Our first service was around March 2015. Over the years, they repaired and serviced our AC and furnace in Southie, and in Dedham they installed AC and repaired our furnace. Jon and Arthur are above and beyond! They are responsive, professional, extremely knowledgeable, careful, and friendly. Prices are competitive and, when you consider the level of service, it's really quite a deal!

I have an old gas furnace (hot air) which started failing around Thanksgiving just as the weather was getting cold. When my regular service company wouldn’t come for 10 days (unacceptable), I called Fire and Ice HVAC because of their excellent reviews on Angie’s list. Arthur quoted their rates on the phone and after I agreed, he came over within the hour. After discussing my options for repair, I decided to have a new furnace installed which they promptly did. I was impressed with Arthur and John’s knowledge and professionalism. I was not looking for a bargain but a fair price with excellent workmanship which is what they delivered. They got the necessary permits for installation and had to make numerous mods to the existing piping to make sure everything was within code. They explained everything and I couldn’t be more pleased with their work.

Perfect. They came out that evening, and had it up and running within an hour.

They were extremely professional. They made great suggestions (other alternatives to changing our our banging loud radiators) and provided reasons why they might not be able to service our unit because the boiler was connected to other units. If they could perform the job, I would absolutely consider them.

They could not fix the problem, charged me a lot of money and gave me a high estimate to replace the unit when i got it for a fraction of the price. They have been good in the price. They could have gotten the heat working.

Artie was very professional. I called them on a Saturday when my outside air conditioning unit was running loud and I could only be turned off manually outside. Artie was upfront saying that on the weekend they charge extra so he insisted that I should wait until the week. Artie got me in that Monday and could not have been more professional. He explained everything that he was doing and asked me before he did anything that required additional payment to the hourly rate. I plan on using Fire & Ice for any of my future heat & cooling needs.
